How Can Two Scummy Alphas Fall in Love - Chapter 21.1
Chapter 21.1
Fu Fu curled her lips into a smile, nodding politely, and then followed Fu Yan out.
Along the way, the two maintained some distance until they entered the lounge and sat facing each other.
“Who are you?” Fu Yan was a smart person and immediately sensed that Fu Fu’s identity was not simple.
Fu Fu’s demeanor in front of Fu Yan completely mirrored her behavior from previous years. The way she sat on equal footing with Fu Yan clearly showed there was no status gap between them.
“I’m thirsty. Following Qin Qiao, I haven’t had a single drop of water.” Fu Fu’s implication was that she intended to chat while sipping tea and wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon.
Fu Yan raised an eyebrow and leaned back against the sofa. “You’re just a stand-in. Even if your boss behind the scenes is powerful, aren’t you afraid of me? Did the Gu family send you to seduce Qin Qiao? Or, are you someone from the Gu family?”
With only three major families remaining, and Fu Yan not having deployed any stand-ins, the only option left was the Gu family.
Han Fufu genuinely wanted some tea. She ignored Fu Yan’s question. “Ask someone to bring some water. I want it to be your person.”
“You really are arrogant, aren’t you? When did the Gu family acquire a bastard daughter named Fu?” Fu Yan looked at Fu Fu’s face, contemplated, but found it impossible. No matter how much Gu family blood ran through her, a Beta illegitimate daughter couldn’t compare to her, the heiress of a major family.
Could it be…
Impossible. Han Fufu was dead. How could this person be Han Fufu?
Or perhaps… is Fu Fu an illegitimate daughter of the Han family?
But the Han family is gone now. How could an illegitimate daughter of a fallen family have the audacity to put on airs with the Fu family heiress?
Who exactly is she!
Han Fufu leaned against the sofa and yawned. “All your guesses are wrong. Just ask your subordinate to bring some tea first. Oh, and some refreshments. I couldn’t eat anything while following Qin Qiao.”
Fu Yan looked at the woman who so closely resembled Han Fufu in both appearance and mannerisms, and decided to comply with her request first. She called her assistant, asking them to bring the items up.
She also instructed the assistant not to tell anyone that she was in this lounge, just in case Qin Qiao’s people discovered her with Qin Qiao’s little lover. That would be difficult to explain.
After Fu Yan’s assistant arrived with tea and water, and laid out several exquisite refreshments, Han Fufu was finally ready to discuss the main topic.
“Do you want the Fu family to become the head of the four major families?” Han Fufu directly put forth the tempting offer of profit.
Fu Yan was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter. “What did you say? To become the number one in the capital? That’s rich. You think you can achieve that? You, a… well… an unknown little stand-in?”
Fu Yan laughed loudly. It had been a long time since she had heard such arrogant talk. If this little stand-in was trying to pique her interest, she had definitely succeeded.
Han Fufu finished a small cake. Her stomach felt much better, and she slowly began to speak. “Fu Yan, a year ago, I asked you for help, and you said the authorities were cracking down severely and you couldn’t assist. Now, I’m offering unconditional help. Do you think I’m trying to harm you?”
Fu Yan was shocked. How could this stand-in know about what happened between her and Han Fufu back then?
Could this person really be Han Fufu herself?
Han Fufu didn’t die?
And she returned to Qin Qiao as her own stand-in?
“Han Fufu?” Fu Yan finally uttered the name.
Han Fufu smiled faintly. “Long time no see, Fu Yan.”
“You didn’t die?” Fu Yan recalled the funeral. Only a few people attended Han Fufu’s funeral, but she had definitely gone and personally watched Han Fufu’s body being buried.
“That corpse wasn’t me, but none of that matters. What matters is that I can help your Fu family become the number one family in the capital.” Han Fufu spread her hands. “Naturally, I also want to make Qin Qiao lose everything. And for myself, I only need to recover one-third of my family’s assets. I don’t need more. Just enough to leave the Han family with a good name.”
This was an extremely tempting proposition.
Although Han Fufu’s words sounded light, if this person truly was Han Fufu, then it could actually be accomplished.
“You want me to help you take revenge on Qin Qiao, but you are willing to give me all the benefits afterward, using it as a way to punish Qin Qiao.” Fu Yan was clearly aware that to gain profit, she had to take corresponding action; otherwise, it wouldn’t constitute a fair trade.
Han Fufu knew Fu Yan was smart, so she saw no need to continue misleading her and directly admitted, “Exactly. That’s the deal. After it’s done, I only take back a portion of my things; all other benefits go to you.”
Fu Yan was silent for a long time, then she smiled. “You truly did love her deeply.”
“I’m not here to talk about love. I’m only asking you, are you taking this deal or not?” Han Fufu didn’t want anyone to pick at her wounds.
Fu Yan countered, “Are you only looking for me? Why not the Gu family? The Gu family would also be very interested in your proposal.”
“Gu Xue’er is Qin Qiao’s cousin. Do you think she would help me hurt her cousin?” Han Fufu paused. “The choice is yours. If you don’t help me, I’ll do it myself.”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll expose your identity?” Fu Yan threatened.
Han Fufu’s eyes curved, completely unafraid. “They’ll just think you’re speaking nonsense… Of course, I don’t think you’ll expose my identity, and you will agree to my proposal.”
“You are a Beta now?” Fu Yan didn’t take Han Fufu’s bait.
Han Fufu frowned slightly. “I don’t have a scent gland anymore, and why are you asking?”
“I regret not getting to know you better sooner. You have the kind of personality I like.” Fu Yan said suggestively.
Han Fufu picked up the cold tea cup on the table. “Are you feeling unwell? Do you need me to help you snap out of it?”
“Alright, Fufu, I accept your proposal. It’s tempting, very tempting.” Fu Yan’s eyes darkened. “And… I do want to make a statement. Someone broke my heart.”
“If you accept, you are my friend.” Han Fufu raised her cup again. “Happy to cooperate.”
“Happy to cooperate.” Fu Yan extended her hand.
Han Fufu politely shook Fu Yan’s hand, and the two looked into each other’s eyes.
“I’m still not used to your current appearance, but I think you’re much more interesting than before.” Fu Yan held Han Fufu’s hand tightly. “I used to look down on you and Qin Qiao, two decadent scoundrels who were more successful than me. But later, I realized you weren’t quite the same as Qin Qiao.”
“Is that a compliment?” Han Fufu looked up. “Let go. We were both Alphas before. Don’t do such distasteful things.”
“Fine, my apologies.” Fu Yan let go, running her fingers through the stray hairs near her ear. “But I just realized, you are particularly captivating.”
“Stop creeping me out, Fu Yan.” Han Fufu adjusted her clothing. “I’m leaving. Contact me later.”
Just as Han Fufu was about to leave, Fu Yan suddenly grew serious. “Be careful of the Gu family.”
Han Fufu knew she had been away from Qin Qiao for too long and couldn’t stay any longer, or she would have definitely discussed the Gu family with Fu Yan.
After all, she had her own doubts.
Back at Qin Qiao’s side, Qin Qiao predictably asked her where she had been for so long.
Han Fufu could only pretend to be unwell. “Stomach ache. I stayed in the restroom until I felt better.”
“Unwell? Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Let’s go, I’ll take you to the hospital.” Qin Qiao grabbed Fu Fu’s hand.
Han Fufu shook her head. “No need. I’m fine now. CEO Qin, don’t you still have socializing to do?”
“Nothing is more important than your health.” Qin Qiao glanced around, making sure there were no more necessary conversations. She pulled her little assistant’s hand and started walking out. “Come on, if you’re not feeling well, go back and rest.”
Han Fufu couldn’t refuse and had to leave the event early with Qin Qiao.
Once in Qin Qiao’s exclusive car, the driver received instructions and started driving. A light rain had begun outside. With the windows closed, the back of the car was completely sealed.
Qin Qiao suddenly smelled a very familiar scent—an Alpha’s pheromone. In the crowded atmosphere of the wine party, where many pheromones mingled, she hadn’t noticed that Fu Fu was carrying the scent of another Alpha.
“You!” Qin Qiao recognized it; it was Fu Yan’s pheromone. She grabbed Han Fufu’s hand. “Who did you meet in the restroom just now?”
Han Fufu, now without a scent gland, couldn’t smell the pheromone clinging to her. “CEO Qin, what’s wrong?”
“You better not be hiding anything from me.” Qin Qiao narrowed her eyes. “Don’t think that just because you look seventy percent like Fufu, I’ll go easy on you. If you dare betray me, I will lock you up.”
Han Fufu recoiled slightly. “CEO Qin, I… I only ran into CEO Fu in the restroom.”
“It was Fu Yan.” Qin Qiao asked again, “What did you do? Why are you exclusively carrying her scent?”
“She said…” Han Fufu lied without batting an eyelid. “She said I look a lot like Han… your former…”
“What else did she say?” Qin Qiao frowned.
Han Fufu continued, “CEO Fu mentioned your former partner to me. I… I didn’t mean to listen, but she insisted I stay until she finished talking.”
“She probably doesn’t know anything about Fufu and me. Just pretend you never heard it.” Qin Qiao turned her head toward the window. “Don’t meet her in private again. That woman is not easy to deal with.”
“Yes, understood.”
“Also.” Qin Qiao looked at her sideways. “Starting today, you will live with me. I don’t trust you to be alone.”
What?
Han Fufu thought she had misheard.
Living together? A person like Qin Qiao would actually suggest living together?
Han Fufu realized that cohabiting would be detrimental to her plans and would make many things inconvenient.
“CEO Qin, I… I prefer to live alone.” Han Fufu knew Qin Qiao was a very dominating person, and her refusal was likely futile, but she wanted to try.
“No.” Qin Qiao was absolutely firm.
Han Fufu thought it over and came up with an idea. She decided to test it.
“I… I can live with you, but I’d like to be alone on weekends to clear my head.” Han Fufu pretended to be pitiful. “I was a very solitary person growing up. You know I grew up without parents. There was a time when I had serious psychological problems. If I’m suppressed for too long and can’t release my emotions, I might… do something drastic.”
A year ago, Qin Qiao had personally witnessed one “Han Fufu” burn to death in a fire. She would certainly not want to see a second “Han Fufu” suffer any mishap now.
Sure enough, Qin Qiao’s expression changed. She hesitated, but ultimately compromised. “Alright. I’ll give you time off to be alone and clear your mind, but remember, I absolutely forbid you from interacting with any other Alphas.”
“Understood, CEO Qin.” Han Fufu agreed verbally, but her eyes were like a deep, unfathomable pool.
