As the unloved illegitimate second daughter of the Wei family, Wei Yinxia is reduced to a pawn, forced to take the place of her sister, who is already married, to fulfill an engagement with the young heir of the An family.
However, on the day of the engagement, An Jing, the adopted daughter who has managed the An family for years, furiously tears up the marriage contract and kicks her uncooperative younger brother out.

Shortly after the broken engagement, An Jing suffers a gunshot wound at a dance hall and is taken home by her lover, a songstress, to be carefully nursed. On this night, the beautiful but disfigured songstress reveals her true face: she is none other than the Wei family’s second daughter, Wei Yinxia, the very woman An Jing had repeatedly humiliated.
In bed, An Jing holds the tear-streaked Wei Yinxia and coos, “If I had known it was you at the engagement banquet, I wouldn’t have stopped it.”
Having survived, An Jing decides to help Wei Yinxia and her brother get married.
But after An Jing tries to set them up, Wei Yinxia brazenly shifts her affections. She hugs, kisses, and sleeps with her new beloved, making rapid progress.
“Ah Jing, I only want to be your woman, and I only want to marry you as my wife.”
If only Wei Yinxia hadn’t been seen joyfully walking with the An family’s enemy to a hotel while she herself was in exile, An Jing would have believed that line for a lifetime.

In a basement, the ruined An Jing roughly tears open Wei Yinxia’s cheongsam.
Wei Yinxia is terrified by the sudden violation. She raises a hand to her chest, her face filled with panic.
An Jing scoffs, “Didn’t Miss Ying boss actively seduce me? Did I misunderstand? Or is Miss Ying boss not used to being touched by a woman?”
Wei Yinxia lowers her hand. “Whether I’m used to it or not, wouldn’t Mr. An boss know if you test it out?”
