- Chapter 4 - Swiftly Wrapped Around Xie Mingyao's Wrist
Xie Mingyao pressed her lips together, snatched the phone from Wang Yuzhen’s hand, and looked at her coolly. “We’re all girls. This is going too far.”
At this point, Ye Qingyu hadn’t yet become completely entangled with Zhou Yanfeng, and Xie Mingyao wasn’t in a position to treat Ye Qingyu as harshly as she would later.
So even if Xie Mingyao disliked Ye Qingyu now, she couldn’t just stand by and watch a girl be ruined. After all, though the original owner of her body was domineering at school, she never truly bullied anyone.
Sure enough, the system remained silent, proof that she had guessed right.
Xie Mingyao let out a quiet sigh of relief and ignored Wang Yuzhen, kicking open the private room door with a cold command: “Stop!”
Outside of class, Xie Mingyao dressed flamboyantly. Her fiery red halter dress accentuated her curvaceous figure, making her skin appear even more luminous, like polished jade.
Though she wore no makeup, her delicate features were striking, especially the teardrop mole beneath the corner of her eye, which looked particularly alluring under the dim corridor lights.
Her hair, usually tied into a small braid, now cascaded in loose waves. Around her neck, ears, and wrists gleamed an expensive set of diamond jewelry, exuding an air of effortless luxury.
The sight of Xie Mingyao this stunning, bewitching woman made everyone in the private room suck in a sharp breath, their gazes fixed on her.
Yet, the opulence of her jewelry made it clear she was someone of wealth and status. Though some might have harbored other thoughts, no one dared act recklessly.
“Beautiful, who are you here to see?” The balding, beer-bellied man slowly stood up, eyeing Xie Mingyao up and down with a forced smile.
Xie Mingyao didn’t even glance at them. Her gaze settled on the disheveled Ye Qingyu, her exquisite features radiating arrogance as she declared imperiously, “This person, I’m taking her. You, come with me.”
Without waiting for their consent, she turned to leave.
The balding man’s expression darkened. “Miss, this isn’t right,” he said sternly. “Barging in here to take someone you’re really disrespecting Wang Li!”
Wang Li was a minor figure of some renown in Haicheng, and most people knew his name. But Xie Mingyao, who spent her days idling around, had never heard of some obscure company’s Wang Li.
She turned back, looking at him with disdain. “Never heard of you. And it’s not ‘taking’, she was always mine.”
Ye Qingyu’s long lashes fluttered slightly. She lifted her eyes, staring at Xie Mingyao in astonishment.
The girl was radiant, her usual arrogance oddly comforting in this moment.
Though she didn’t know why Xie Mingyao was here or why she was helping her, Ye Qingyu was deeply grateful.
“She’s a waitress here, not some bought woman. How is she ‘yours’?” Wang Li’s face twisted with anger at Xie Mingyao’s dismissiveness, and he sneered, no longer caring about offending her.
“Are you mine or not?” Xie Mingyao tilted her chin up proudly.
Ye Qingyu lowered her eyes and murmured, “Yours.”
“Good. Let’s go. This place reeks, disgusting.” Xie Mingyao nodded in satisfaction and turned to stride out, her tone imperious.
“Stop right there!” Wang Li roared.
Xie Mingyao grew impatient, her beautiful eyes icy as she glared at Wang Li, her tone haughty and cold. “You dare block me? Do you even know who I am? I’m Xie Mingyao, the heiress of the Xie Group! Who the hell do you think you are?”
The moment her words fell, the room fell silent. Everyone stared at her in disbelief, inwardly relieved they hadn’t done anything to provoke her earlier.
The Xie Group was the wealthiest family in Haicheng, and their influence was anything but ordinary.
“Exactly! How dare you offend our Mingyao-jie? You must have a death wish!” Wang Yuzhen chimed in, puffing herself up with arrogance.
She was terrified that these people might not believe Xie Mingyao and do something reckless. If that happened, as the one who had brought Xie Mingyao here, she’d be in deep trouble especially since this wasn’t something that could be easily investigated.
The group exchanged uneasy glances but ultimately decided to believe Xie Mingyao. They stepped aside, letting Ye Qingyu leave.
After all, they could always verify later. If Xie Mingyao was lying, the truth would come out eventually. With their connections, how hard could it be to track someone down?
Once they left the bar, Xie Mingyao dismissed Wang Yuzhen. Wang Yuzhen glanced back at Ye Qingyu, who stood unharmed behind Xie Mingyao, biting her lower lip to suppress the resentment in her eyes before turning away.
There would be plenty of time later. She refused to believe that Xie Mingyao would keep helping Ye Qingyu once Zhou Yanfeng got involved with her. By then, Xie Mingyao would become the sharpest blade against her.
Even at night, Haicheng in midsummer was sweltering.
Standing outside the bar, Xie Mingyao frowned slightly, lifting a slender, pale finger to tilt Ye Qingyu’s chin, scrutinizing her. “You really are quite pretty. No wonder those guys took an interest in you.”
Ye Qingyu’s fair complexion was tinged with a faint flush, as if dusted with rouge. Her expression remained cold, but her dark eyes were slightly unfocused.
Yet she was so composed that Xie Mingyao didn’t notice a thing.
Ye Qingyu lowered her gaze, her inky eyes dark and intense as they fixed on Xie Mingyao.
The girl before her was dazzlingly beautiful tempting, even. The teardrop mole beneath the corner of her eye shifted with her expressions, mesmerizing. Her full, crimson lips resembled budding rose petals, the slight pout of her cupid’s bow almost begging to be kissed.
And those fingers, slightly cooler than her own skin, pressed against her jaw, sending waves of comfort through her. Ye Qingyu knew that if she lingered any longer, she wouldn’t be able to hold back.
There had to be something in those drinks.
Suppressing the urge to lean into the touch, Ye Qingyu spoke in a low, hoarse voice, “Thank you for saving me. I’ll be going now.”
Xie Mingyao was stunned. By the time she snapped out of it, Ye Qingyu had already reached the mouth of an alley. Furious, she stomped after her in her high heels, grabbing Ye Qingyu’s arm. “What kind of attitude is that? I just saved you, and you think a half-hearted ‘thank you’ is enough? Do you think I’m, ah!”
Before she could finish, she was yanked violently into the dark alley, her back slamming against the hard wall. Pain and shock made her cry out.
Under the dim moonlight, the girl’s crimson eyes burned with fury. Beads of sweat dotted her forehead, her usually cool expression twisted with restraint as if she was barely holding something back.
Xie Mingyao looked up and was startled by those terrifying eyes. But as the young lady of the Xie family, she had never suffered such humiliation before. Completely oblivious to the danger, she angrily shouted, “What are you doing? Have you lost your mind? You! you, you, you.”
Before she could finish her tirade, Xie Mingyao felt Ye Qingyu’s gaze grow increasingly terrifying, like a starving wolf eyeing a piece of meat.
A chill ran down Xie Mingyao’s spine, and her voice gradually faded until it was barely audible. She looked utterly pathetic.
Fortunately, no one else was around, or Xie Mingyao would never have shown such cowardice, she had her pride to uphold.
“W-what’s wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell? I-I’ll go get a doctor,” Xie Mingyao stammered, pressing herself against the wall as if wishing she could melt into it.
The girl’s eyes were slightly unfocused, her cheeks growing redder by the second. Her cold, dark pupils seemed to cage a beast on the verge of breaking free.
Xie Mingyao swallowed nervously, stammering excuses while tentatively pushing against Ye Qingyu with both hands.
The system had already detected what was wrong with the female lead and hurriedly said, The drink she had earlier was spiked. She needs to go to the hospital.
Xie Mingyao suddenly understood and nodded in agreement. I can see that, but my character is supposed to be a spoiled, clueless young lady. Even though I’m a bit wild, I’ve never been to places like this, so I wouldn’t know what’s wrong with her. If I send her to the hospital right away, wouldn’t that break character?
The system thought this made sense. Then handle it as you see fit.
It didn’t sense any danger at all because it had no idea its host was actually into women.
The moment her fingertips touched Ye Qingyu’s body, Xie Mingyao found her wrists swiftly pinned above her head. Her almond-shaped eyes widened in panic. “H-hey, what are you doing? Have you lost your mind? Let me go right now! I’m the Xie family’s young lady! If you dare hit me, I’ll make sure you can’t survive in A City!”
Her plump, crimson lips moved incessantly in Ye Qingyu’s line of sight, as if tempting her to kiss them.
But this clueless young lady had no idea how irresistible she was to Ye Qingyu in this state. She struggled fiercely while continuing to hurl threats and curses.
If Ye Qingyu had been sober, such threats might have worked. But now, she had reached her limit.
Annoyed by the incessant noise and the squirming beneath her, Ye Qingyu roughly yanked off the tie around her collar and swiftly bound Xie Mingyao’s wrists with it.
Xie Mingyao froze. She looked up, dumbfounded, at the suddenly domineering Ye Qingyu, feeling as though she had become an entirely different person.
It was just too.
Xie Mingyao’s heart pounded wildly, her pinned hands curling nervously, her palms slick with sweat.
Ye Qingyu leaned down.
The next moment, Xie Mingyao felt her lips being captured in a kiss. Warm breath fanned across her face as Ye Qingyu’s delicate features loomed closer.
Her cool, elegant eyes were tinged with a faint red, her dark, glass-like pupils unfocused yet mesmerizing.
Xie Mingyao’s breathing hitched.
Then, the system screamed, Ahhh! Why is the female lead kissing you?! Push her away now!!
Xie Mingyao tried to stay calm. In this situation, does gender even matter?
The system found this reasoning quite logical and didn’t overthink it, but still urged: 【Bite her. The pain will snap her out of it.】
Xie Mingyao lowered her eyes slightly, masking the emotions within them.
She couldn’t rush this, she had to take it step by step, or the system would catch on.
With that in mind, Xie Mingyao bit down lightly on Ye Qingyu’s lip. The sharp sting jolted Ye Qingyu slightly awake. She gently licked the blood from her lips, her unfocused gaze sharpening a little as she stared heavily at Xie Mingyao.
“Let go of me now,” Xie Mingyao demanded, her stunning face flushed with anger.
Ye Qingyu stared at Xie Mingyao’s blood-stained lips, as if recalling what had just happened, and felt a pang of awkwardness. Just as she was about to untie the necktie binding Xie Mingyao’s wrist, footsteps suddenly echoed from the mouth of the alley.
