- Chapter 29 - Ye Qingyu pinched her chin, her thumb leisurely caressing her full lips
So, it was Ye Qingyu’s company, no wonder the response had been so quick.
Xie Mingyao pressed her lips together, struggling to accept it. The poor school beauty she used to bully at will had now become a company owner. There was no way she could work under her, especially after what had happened that night a few days ago. Wasn’t this like a lamb walking into a tiger’s den?
At the thought, Xie Mingyao lost all desire to speak and turned to leave.
“Wait.” Ye Qingyu’s cool, subdued voice came from behind.
Xie Mingyao paused mid-step and turned to look at her, trying hard to maintain her haughty, superior demeanor. “What?”
“Didn’t you come here to apply for a job? Why are you running?” Ye Qingyu closed the proposal on the desk and set it aside, leaning back in her chair, her icy gaze fixed intently on Xie Mingyao.
Xie Mingyao lifted her chin slightly. “I’m not coming to work at your company. Don’t think you’re so great just because you own a business.”
With that, she turned to leave again.
“Thirty thousand a month.”
Xie Mingyao didn’t stop walking.
“Fifty thousand.”
Her hand on the doorknob hesitated, but she still didn’t turn around.
“One hundred thousand. Be my secretary.”
This time, Xie Mingyao was thoroughly tempted. A hundred thousand a month? For someone like her, who graduated from a no-name university and had zero work experience, where else could she find a fool willing to pay her that much?
Thinking this, Xie Mingyao turned to look at said fool and bargained, “I studied design. I want to be a designer, not your assistant.”
She wasn’t stupid. Whether Ye Qingyu genuinely liked her or was scheming to get revenge, as long as she didn’t let herself be swayed, even if she were a lamb in a tiger’s den, nothing would really happen.
Ye Qingyu raised an eyebrow and tapped the desk leisurely with her fingertip. After a long pause, she finally spoke. “First, pour me a cup of coffee.”
She hadn’t even started working yet, and already she was being bossed around!
Xie Mingyao glared at Ye Qingyu. Good thing she wasn’t her assistant otherwise, she’d probably be ordered around nonstop.
Still, if pouring a cup of coffee could land her such a sweet deal, only an idiot would refuse.
With that in mind, Xie Mingyao straightened her back and strode confidently to the break room, only to freeze in place when she got there.
The company’s benefits were pretty good. The break room had a small fridge stocked with all kinds of drinks and snacks, and the counter was lined with ingredients for mixing juices and other beverages.
Xie Mingyao searched for a while before finding the coffee beans. Back home, her servants had always hand-ground and brewed her coffee, she’d never done it herself. After some thought, she pulled out her phone and looked it up, clumsily managing to brew a cup.
Afraid it might taste bad, she took a stealthy sip, scalding hot and sour.
Bleh!!
She rinsed her mouth, realizing this wouldn’t do. What if Ye Qingyu used it as an excuse to pick on her?
Her gaze landed on the water dispenser nearby, and her eyes lit up. She poured out half the coffee and added some water. It was still a bit sour, but better than before just a little diluted overall.
Xie Mingyao carried the coffee to the desk and set it down. Ye Qingyu took a sip, her expression shifting oddly before she smirked and asked, “Does it taste good?”
“I’ve tried it, it’s delicious,” Xie Mingyao spoke with a hint of guilt.
Ye Qingyu’s lips curled slightly as she beckoned with a finger, “Come here.”
Xie Mingyao stood frozen in place.
“Don’t you want to go to the design department?”
At those words, Xie Mingyao reluctantly stepped forward, shooting her a fierce glare as if warning her not to try anything untoward.
The amusement in Ye Qingyu’s eyes deepened. The moment Xie Mingyao reached her, she grabbed her wrist and pulled her down with a slight force, forcing Xie Mingyao to sit in her lap.
A jolt of electricity seemed to run through Xie Mingyao’s entire body.
She froze for a moment, thinking, This woman is really something!
Her ears flushed crimson, and she hurriedly tried to stand up. But Ye Qingyu didn’t give her the chance, firmly wrapping an arm around her from behind and pulling her close. Her lips brushed against Xie Mingyao’s ear as she murmured lazily, “Don’t move.”
Xie Mingyao refused to listen and tried to stand again.
“If you keep squirming, we’ll revisit what happened that night,” Ye Qingyu whispered before capturing her snow-white earlobe between her lips, gently sucking and teasing.
The flush on Xie Mingyao’s ears spread down to her neck. Her body stiffened like stone, and she truly didn’t dare move again.
Seeing her obedient and still, Ye Qingyu’s lowered eyes darkened with an unreadable emotion. A faint, wicked smile played at the corners of her lips.
Seizing the opportunity, her slender fingers picked up the coffee cup from the table. After taking a sip, she turned Xie Mingyao’s face toward her and pressed their lips together.
The tangy coffee flowed slowly into Xie Mingyao’s mouth. Her almond-shaped eyes widened slightly, and she instinctively clamped her lips shut to resist while trying to push Ye Qingyu away.
Ye Qingyu set the cup down and pressed a palm against the back of Xie Mingyao’s head, preventing her escape.
By the time she was released, Xie Mingyao was left breathless and weak, slumped against Ye Qingyu’s chest.
Ye Qingyu gazed down at the woman in her arms.
The corners of Xie Mingyao’s eyes were tinged pink, her gaze soft and damp. The swollen redness from the previous day’s kisses had just faded, but this new kiss had left her lips flushed and puffy again, glistening with moisture under the sunlight like tender jelly so mesmerizing it was almost hypnotic.
“Was it good?” a husky voice murmured by her ear.
Xie Mingyao wiped her mouth angrily, glaring at her but still refusing to back down. “It was good.”
Ye Qingyu arched a brow and took another sip. Seeing her lean in again, Xie Mingyao tried to bolt first, but Ye Qingyu anticipated it, trapping her in her embrace once more.
Warm coffee trickled from Ye Qingyu’s lips, filling every corner of Xie Mingyao’s mouth. Only after the entire cup was emptied did Ye Qingyu finally release her.
Xie Mingyao sprang up as if her seat were electrified, her oval eyes fixed on Ye Qingyu soft and misty from the kisses. “You’re shameless!” she fumed.
Ye Qingyu’s lips curved as she rose from the chair. Xie Mingyao startled and turned to flee, but she didn’t get far before being pinned against the desk.
Xie Mingyao braced her hands against Ye Qingyu’s shoulders, while Ye Qingyu pressed her knee firmly against Xie Mingyao’s thigh. They were so close that Xie Mingyao had to lean back just to keep their faces from touching.
“W-what are you doing?” Xie Mingyao stammered nervously.
Ye Qingyu pinched her chin, her thumb leisurely caressing the plump lips beneath her fingers. Her dark eyes grew increasingly profound, her breath turning both ambiguous and scorching. Her clear, cool voice carried a hint of huskiness as she spoke deliberately, “What do you think?”
Xie Mingyao glared at her fiercely.
How could she possibly know? She wasn’t a mind reader!
Ye Qingyu chuckled before pressing her lips against Xie Mingyao’s once more dominant and unyielding. Xie Mingyao flustered, panicked, and tried desperately to push her away.
“Be my assistant,” Ye Qingyu said, pulling back with a light laugh.
Xie Mingyao’s chest rose and fell rapidly, her almond-shaped eyes glistening with unshed tears. She gritted her teeth in frustration.
Scheming businesswoman!
Just moments ago, she had claimed that spilling coffee would send her straight to the design department. Now, she was coercing her into being an assistant through entirely different means. Shameless!
As if reading her thoughts, Ye Qingyu lowered her head and murmured meaningfully, “I only said I’d consider it. I never agreed.”
“Devious,” Xie Mingyao hissed under her breath.
Ye Qingyu’s amused voice whispered by her ear, “So, do you agree?”
Xie Mingyao glared at her, refusing to speak, her defiance clear. Unfazed, Ye Qingyu didn’t mind kissing her a few more times, leaving Xie Mingyao’s lips swollen and tender.
“Do you enjoy being kissed by me that much?” Ye Qingyu studied Xie Mingyao for a long moment before asking with a smile.
Xie Mingyao was momentarily stunned.
How utterly shameless! Refusing to agree had somehow twisted into wanting to be kissed in her mind.
The system fumed: [The female lead is absolutely shameless!]
Previously, it had felt like a motherly concern, but now it seemed more like the indignation of a mother-in-law.
Xie Mingyao inwardly cheered, I love this kind of female lead! but outwardly, she seethed with anger. “You’re the one who enjoys it! Don’t think you can make me submit like this.”
“Then should I try another method?” Ye Qingyu’s thumb brushed lightly over the teardrop mole at the corner of Xie Mingyao’s eye.
Though her words were vague, the wicked amusement in her gaze made her intentions unmistakable. Xie Mingyao’s expression shifted, and she shook her head nervously. “You wouldn’t dare!”
The woman before her tightened an arm around her slender waist, her cool lips grazing Xie Mingyao’s ear as she murmured, “Guess whether I dare or not, A’Yao. It’s just being my assistant, I won’t bully you. How about 150,000 a month?”
Her voice was crisp and melodious. If not for the fear of electric shocks, Xie Mingyao would have caved instantly. She turned her head away, avoiding Ye Qingyu’s lips and the warm breath against her skin, struggling to put distance between them.
“I still refuse.”
“200,000.”
Xie Mingyao: “??”
“250,000.”
Xie Mingyao was dumbfounded. Was she trying to bury her in money? She wanted to agree, but she couldn’t break character.
Seeing her persistent silence, Ye Qingyu sighed softly. Xie Mingyao thought she was about to give up and internally screamed, No! Keep pushing! Threaten me with more kisses, don’t let me go!
Just then, a knock sounded at the office door. Xie Mingyao tensed immediately, shoving at Ye Qingyu with both hands. “Someone’s coming.”
A faint smile curled Ye Qingyu’s lips as she kissed her once more, pinning her resisting hands behind her back. In a low voice, she murmured, “The door isn’t locked. Anyone could walk in at any moment, A’Yao.”
Xie Mingyao’s breathing grew increasingly rapid. If someone were to walk in now, within a minute, gossip about them would spread like wildfire throughout the entire company.
She still had to work here, after all. While she didn’t mind being the one dishing out gossip, she absolutely refused to become the center of it!
Xie Mingyao said nervously, “Let go of me, aren’t you afraid of being seen?”
Not only was Ye Qingyu unafraid, she was more than happy for the whole world to know that Xie Mingyao belonged to her.
Ye Qingyu gently nipped her soft ear, her voice low and husky. “I’m not afraid.”
The person outside spoke again, and Xie Mingyao’s heart nearly leapt out of her chest. Her fingers clenched involuntarily as she blurted out, “Fine, fine! I’ll agree! So what if it’s just being an assistant? But don’t you dare bully me!”
Ye Qingyu chuckled, lightly pinching her cheek, her tone tender. “Miss Xie, how could I ever dare to bully you?”
Xie Mingyao’s face burned instantly. The way Ye Qingyu looked at her and touched her was so intimate it was unbearable. The moment Ye Qingyu released her, she wanted to bolt but then she suddenly remembered something.
If someone walked in now, they’d definitely see her current state and might even guess what they’d been up to in the office.
After all, they’d been in here for so long without letting anyone in.
If word got out, she’d never be able to show her face again. With that thought, as soon as Ye Qingyu called for the person to enter and the sound of the doorknob turning echoed, Xie Mingyao quickly scanned the room and ducked under the desk.
Seated in her office chair, Ye Qingyu blinked in surprise, glancing down at Xie Mingyao curled up in a ball. Hearing footsteps approaching and noticing Ye Qingyu still staring at her, Xie Mingyao panicked and tugged at her pants, signaling her to stop looking.
A faint smirk curled Ye Qingyu’s lips as she lifted her gaze to the newcomer. “Secretary Lin, do you need something?”
Secretary Lin placed a file on the desk and said respectfully, “This document requires your review and signature.”
Ye Qingyu took the file and began reading it leisurely. Standing before the desk, Secretary Lin’s eyes lingered on the CEO’s slightly swollen lips.
This was exactly like last time, two days ago, when there had also been a scratch on her neck and face. The entire company had been speculating whether the CEO had a boyfriend and a rather passionate one at that.
So, had something been going on in the office just now?
Lost in thought, Secretary Lin instinctively glanced around the room but saw no one else. Had she guessed wrong?
Just as she was pondering this, Ye Qingyu finished reviewing the document and picked up the fountain pen from the desk, removing the cap. But her fingers slipped, and the cap fell to the floor with a soft clatter, right at Secretary Lin’s feet.
Secretary Lin bent down to pick it up.
Though the space beneath the desk was mostly concealed, there was still a small gap between it and the floor. Xie Mingyao’s heart pounded so hard she thought it might burst.
Please don’t see me, please don’t see me.
Xie Mingyao silently prayed, watching the scene unfold. Meanwhile, Ye Qingyu lowered one hand and gently ruffled her hair.
Xie Mingyao glared at her. From this angle, she could clearly see the faint smirk on Ye Qingyu’s lips, proof that she was doing this on purpose. Gritting her teeth in frustration, Xie Mingyao thought, Oh, so you want to mess with me like this? Fine. Two can play at that game. I’ll get my revenge!
