- Help! Please Take the Heroine Away [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 2 - The soft touch on the petals startled her, causing her eyes to widen slightly in surprise.
Xie Mingyao stood in front of Ye Qingyu, chewing on a stick of candy cigarette, while the other three girls positioned themselves behind her, lending an air of intimidation.
Her slender figure cast a long shadow over the pages of Ye Qingyu’s book, blocking the light above her head. Ye Qingyu paused mid-turn of a page, slowly lifting her gaze.
The first thing that met her eyes was a pair of straight, long, and fair legs. Her gaze traveled upward to the pleated skirt that barely covered the upper thighs. The skirt was still swaying slightly from Xie Mingyao’s movement, and from Ye Qingyu’s angle, she could faintly catch a glimpse of green beneath.
Further up was a white, cinched-waist blouse that perfectly outlined her slender figure.
Such a thin waist, such fair legs, and such a fresh shade of green.
For a moment, Ye Qingyu’s expression stiffened.
She quickly averted her gaze upward, landing on an exceptionally beautiful face.
Her features were delicate and striking, yet not overly seductive. Her hair was braided into small plaits cascading over her shoulders, and her light makeup accentuated an aura of wealth from head to toe.
However, the way she chewed on the candy cigarette gave off the vibe of a delinquent.
The three girls standing behind her, equally rough in demeanor, looked at Ye Qingyu with disdain and hostility clearly here to pick a fight.
Ye Qingyu pressed her lips together slightly, lowered her eyes, closed the book on her lap, and stood up. Her expression was cool as she met Xie Mingyao’s gaze, her tone indifferent. “Can I help you?”
The moment Ye Qingyu lifted her head, Xie Mingyao drew in a sharp breath.
The female lead was truly stunning.
Her skin was as fair as snow, her beauty ethereal and refined. Her delicate, cold features gave off the untouchable aura of a flower atop a high peak.
Xie Mingyao’s eyes instantly lit up. System, I think I can do this!
The system was puzzled. Do what?
Xie Mingyao grinned strangely. I can last till the end now.
The system: ??
In the days to come, the system would come to fully understand the meaning behind her words.
Feeling newly motivated, Xie Mingyao maintained a cold expression, tilting her chin up slightly as she spoke in an icy tone. “Ye Qingyu?”
Her words carried an unmistakable challenge, instantly ratcheting up the tension. The surrounding spectators buzzed with excitement.
Ye Qingyu remained unruffled, her demeanor calm. “Yes.”
“What kind of attitude is that? When our Mingyao speaks to you, you better show some respect!” Wang Yuzhen snapped, stepping forward and shoving Ye Qingyu roughly.
Ye Qingyu frowned slightly and sidestepped the push.
Wang Yuzhen’s face darkened at the miss, her pride wounded. “Who said you could dodge?!”
Ignoring Wang Yuzhen’s bluster, Ye Qingyu turned her gaze back to Xie Mingyao, her voice steady. “What do you want with me?”
Oh, clever. She can tell at a glance that I’m the leader here.
Ye Qingyu gave her a brief glance and was about to speak when Tang Yan couldn’t hold back either. Flipping her hair over her shoulder, she sneered, “We’re here to settle a score, of course! How dare you seduce our Mingyao’s fiancé!”
For a fleeting moment, confusion flickered in Ye Qingyu’s eyes, but it quickly faded back into indifference. “I don’t know who this ‘fiancé’ is, and I certainly didn’t seduce him.”
“No seduction? Wasn’t it you who pretended to bump into Yanfeng yesterday and got entangled with him?” Xie Mingyao curled her lips in a half-smile, tilting her chin slightly with an air of casual disdain.
The girl standing half a head taller than Xie Mingyao lowered her gaze, her pupils dark as ink, lashes like crow feathers casting shadows downward. When she looked at someone this way, it carried an icy aloofness.
Despite her frosty demeanor, even though some at school knew Ye Qingyu had neither money nor connections, many still found her intimidating, as if she exuded an oppressive aura that made it hard to breathe.
Yet Xie Mingyao remained unfazed, her delicate features brimming with arrogance. The crimson tear mole beneath the corner of her eye quivered slightly as she raised her gaze, making her appear stunningly vibrant.
Ye Qingyu’s eyes lingered on that vermilion tear mole. After a moment of silence, she replied calmly, “It was just an accident. He bumped into me and was apologizing.”
“Who’d believe that? Everyone knows it’s just one of those tired tricks you girls use,” Zhou Ruohan sneered.
Ye Qingyu kept her gaze fixed steadily on Xie Mingyao, her tone sincere. “I swear to heaven, if I seduced him, may I be struck dead by a car.”
Her words plunged the surroundings into silence.
Though no one truly believed in such oaths, the sheer severity of Ye Qingyu’s vow was unprecedented. Was she really unafraid of tempting fate?
Xie Mingyao was momentarily stunned.
For a second, she froze, the candy cigarette between her lips nearly dropping to the ground before she snapped back to reality.
Xie Mingyao stepped forward, pinching the cigarette between her fingers, her pale pink fingertip poking Ye Qingyu’s chest.
The moment she made contact, she paused.
Her aim had been off, her fingertip met unexpected softness.
Xie Mingyao stiffened instantly. Without even looking, she knew exactly where her unwelcome touch had landed. She could clearly feel Ye Qingyu’s body tense in response.
The girl stared wordlessly at Xie Mingyao, her dark, fathomless eyes sending a chill down one’s spine.
Gritting her teeth, Xie Mingyao shifted her finger slightly and defiantly poked again, issuing an imperious command: “Fine, I’ll believe you for now. From now on, stay away from my fiancé when you see him. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
With that, the group arrived in a flurry and left just as dramatically.
The girls who had been eagerly anticipating Xie Mingyao tearing into Ye Qingyu were left disappointed. They had hoped for a confrontation that might ruin that fox-like face of hers.
Once they left the field, Zhou Ruohan approached Xie Mingyao in confusion. “Mingyao-jie, why didn’t you just beat her up? Why let her off so easily?”
Wang Yuzhen chimed in, “Yeah, Mingyao-jie! She’s been using that vixen face to seduce guys all over school. She was definitely lying to you just now. What if she keeps approaching him?”
“Are you trying to tell me how to handle things?” Xie Mingyao arched a brow, casting a light but pointed glance at Wang Yuzhen.
If Zhou Ruohan was genuinely concerned for her, then Wang Yuzhen was only looking out for herself.
Xie Mingyao recalled from the records that later on, after the female lead rose to power, not only did the original antagonist face retribution, but Wang Yuzhen, one of the lackeys, also met her downfall.
At that time, Wang Yuzhen had tried to explain to the female lead that she had only bullied her under duress, but the female lead saw right through her.
It turned out that back in school, Wang Yuzhen had set her sights on a marriage alliance target who ended up falling for Ye Qingyu. When Wang Yuzhen saw the boy pestering Ye Qingyu, she was consumed by jealousy and hatred. Yet, she didn’t dare confront Ye Qingyu openly, nor did she want anyone to know her true feelings. After discovering Zhou Yanfeng’s interest in Ye Qingyu, she immediately informed the original host and continuously incited her to target Ye Qingyu.
Wang Yuzhen froze for a moment, staring at Xie Mingyao in disbelief.
Xie Mingyao had already crunched down the candy cigarette in her hand, swallowing it without paying Wang Yuzhen any mind as she continued walking ahead.
An awkward expression flashed across Wang Yuzhen’s face, and she didn’t dare say another word, trailing behind resentfully. Inwardly, she cursed, This idiot, how did she suddenly become so sharp today? Tang Yan, walking beside her, patted her shoulder lightly and gave her a meaningful look before quickly catching up.
By the time they returned to the classroom, class had long since started. The teacher at the podium was already accustomed to students arriving late or not paying attention. Xie Mingyao didn’t even bother to announce her arrival, striding confidently into the room and taking her seat while the teacher pretended not to notice.
To avoid acting out of character, Xie Mingyao couldn’t listen to the lesson or study. Instead, she simply pulled out her phone and started playing games.
When morning classes ended, Xie Mingyao got up to head to lunch.
Mingde High School covered a vast area and was slightly remote, making it far from many students’ homes. The school cafeteria served excellent food, so most students ate there, only the particularly picky ones had meals delivered from home.
In the past, Xie Mingyao always ate with Zhou Yanfeng. To avoid intruding on their “couple time,” Wang Yuzhen and the others never tagged along.
At the classroom door, Xie Mingyao craned her neck to look around but didn’t spot Zhou Yanfeng. Frowning slightly, she grabbed a male student who was close to Zhou Yanfeng.
“Where’s Yanfeng?”
The boy she pulled aside looked nervous, his gaze flickering uncertainly as he stammered, unsure how to respond.
Sensing something amiss, Xie Mingyao’s striking features turned icy as she threatened fiercely, “If you don’t tell me, I’ll tell your parents you bullied me!”
“Mingyao-jie, Brother Zhou… he went to the cafeteria…” As soon as he finished speaking, the boy yanked his arm back and bolted as if afraid Xie Mingyao would hold him accountable.
Xie Mingyao clicked her tongue in annoyance.
Was she some kind of monster? Why was he so scared of her?
Well, she was a monster at least in the eyes of many students at this school.
Grumbling to herself, Xie Mingyao headed to the cafeteria. After scanning the room, she quickly spotted Zhou Yanfeng.
The male lead of this world was undeniably handsome, with sharp, deep-set features and a tall, straight nose like a dashing actor from a TV drama. But Xie Mingyao wasn’t particularly interested. Her gaze soon shifted to Ye Qingyu, who was sitting across from Zhou Yanfeng.
The girl sat by the window, facing Xie Mingyao’s direction, her eyes downcast as she ate quietly.
Pale sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting her flawless jade-like face in a warm glow, softening her usual aloof expression like the first snow under sunlight. For a moment, Xie Mingyao was mesmerized.
After a long pause, the corners of her lips curled up, and she strode over to their table. Looping her arm through Zhou Yanfeng’s, she cooed in a sweet yet bold voice, “Yanfeng, why didn’t you wait for me to come to the cafeteria today? I waited for you at the classroom door for so long.”
Yet the moment Ye Qingyu looked up at her, her brow twitched almost imperceptibly.
Earlier in the indoor gym, after Xie Mingyao had confronted her and left, Ye Qingyu had already gathered bits and pieces about Xie Mingyao’s background from the whispers of her classmates. She was well aware of her temper.
She had just made that vow in the morning, and now she was seen having lunch with Zhou Yanfeng. This young mistress probably wouldn’t let her off easily again.
Ye Qingyu pressed her lips together, feeling rather irritated.
Zhou Yanfeng was startled and instinctively looked at Ye Qingyu. He jerked his arm away from Xie Mingyao’s grip as if electrocuted, frowning impatiently. “We have no relationship whatsoever. Why must I have lunch with you?”
Such cold, heartless words stunned Xie Mingyao for a moment. She gazed at Zhou Yanfeng, heartbroken. “We have a childhood betrothal. How can you say we have no relationship?”
After a pause, as if suddenly realizing something, she bit her lower lip lightly and glared resentfully at Ye Qingyu, angrily demanding, “It’s because of her, isn’t it? Ye Qingyu, you just said this morning that you and Yanfeng have nothing to do with each other, and now you’re having lunch with him in the cafeteria!”
Ye Qingyu sighed softly and stood up, picking up her tray to leave. Her voice was cool, like snowmelt from a mountain peak. “He sat down on his own. I’ll leave now.”
Xie Mingyao wasn’t about to let her go so easily. She grabbed Ye Qingyu’s arm and yanked hard.
The sudden movement caused Ye Qingyu’s tray to clatter to the floor. Off-balance, she stumbled straight into Xie Mingyao. Xie Mingyao, unable to steady herself against a girl of similar weight, tilted sideways and crashed onto the dining table.
Xie Mingyao winced as her side hit the edge of the table, but she barely registered the pain. The soft sensation on her lips shocked her, her eyes widening in disbelief as she stared at Ye Qingyu, now mere inches away.
Everything around them seemed to fade into the distance…
