Help! Please Take the Heroine Away [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 19
Xie Mingyao leaned against the dining room doorway, quietly watching Ye Qingyu come and go as she served breakfast.
This information gave Xie Mingyao the feeling of being struck by lightning. With a dazed expression, she asked her system, “System, what’s going on? Why is the female lead in my bed?”
She instinctively glanced down at her own clothes, completely intact. Good, nothing beyond the boundaries had happened. Although she did have some feelings for the female lead, she still couldn’t quite accept the idea of anything happening secretly between them.
The system, recalling the events of the previous night, couldn’t help but wipe its face with its wing. But telling the truth was out of the question: “Last night, the female lead came to bring you clothes, but you clung to her and refused to let go.”
Xie Mingyao rubbed her face sheepishly. “Then why didn’t you wake me up?”
The system choked for a moment, thinking that if it had woken her up, the truth might have been exposed. It could only reply vaguely, “I was afraid it would stunt your growth.”
Xie Mingyao chuckled dryly, but her mind was already racing.
The system was clearly hiding something from her and if it was hiding something, it definitely involved the female lead. If it was hiding something about the female lead, then it must also concern her. That was why the system was keeping its mouth shut. So, last night, something else must have happened something unmentionable.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Xie Mingyao nudged Ye Qingyu’s leg with her toe. “Ye Qingyu, who said you could sleep in my bed?”
Ye Qingyu, who had stayed up late last night holding Xie Mingyao before finally falling asleep, felt like she hadn’t slept long before being rudely awakened. But the voice in her ears quickly brought her to full alertness.
She opened her eyes, sat up in bed, and saw Xie Mingyao’s expression of anger and disdain. Her heart tightened slightly.
Did Xie Mingyao really dislike her that much? Just sharing a bed was enough to earn such contempt? Ye Qingyu pressed her lips together, suppressing the emotions in her chest, and said softly, “Last night, I came to bring you something, and you wouldn’t let go of me.”
Hearing this explanation, Xie Mingyao felt a rare twinge of guilt. But as a young mistress, how could she ever admit fault? She slipped on her slippers and headed toward the bathroom, muttering as she twisted the truth, “As if I’d cling to you and refuse to let go. You just wanted to sleep in my bed and made up an excuse. Since it’s your first time, I’ll let it slide this time.”
At first, her voice was weak, but as she spoke, she grew more and more confident. Ye Qingyu naturally noticed this and let out a soft laugh, thinking that the young mistress right now was a bit like a kitten fleeing in defeat.
After returning to her own room to freshen up, Ye Qingyu went downstairs to the kitchen.
The servants were just about to prepare breakfast, but Ye Qingyu volunteered to take over. Under their guidance, she clumsily managed to cook the meal. By the time Xie Mingyao came downstairs, she happened to see Ye Qingyu, wearing an apron, carrying breakfast to the dining table.
Sunlight streamed in waves, filling the dining room with the aroma of food. The usually cool and distant girl, now in a soft pink apron, had her long black hair tied up, with a few loose strands framing her forehead. The sharp edges of her demeanor had softened, giving her a gentler, more graceful aura.
A beautiful person was pleasing to the eye no matter what they did. Combined with the soft morning light spilling in, it was easy to feel relaxed, completely immersed in the sight of such breathtaking beauty.
Xie Mingyao leaned against the restaurant doorway, quietly watching Ye Qingyu bustling in and out with breakfast, when a fleeting illusion of serene domestic bliss crossed her mind.
But such tranquility was soon shattered by Xie Mingyao herself. She sauntered toward the dining table and remarked, “Oh, the model student is making breakfast for me, huh?”
“Do you like it?” Ye Qingyu’s expression remained unchanged as she set down the plate in her hands, her tone calm.
Yet with just those words, she effortlessly transformed Xie Mingyao’s sarcasm into an intimate banter between lovers. Xie Mingyao, displeased, pulled out a chair and leaned back, casting a sidelong glance at the assortment of breakfast dishes on the table before scoffing, “You made this?”
At that moment, the maid emerged from the kitchen, beaming as she praised, “Yes, Miss! You wouldn’t believe it, your classmate here has a real talent for cooking. I just gave her a few pointers, and she nailed it on the first try. It’s delicious too!”
“Tsk, tsk. With talent like that, maybe you should just become a full-time chef. What’s the point of going to school?” Xie Mingyao clicked her tongue mockingly.
The maid awkwardly placed a small bowl on the table, glancing uncertainly between Xie Mingyao and Ye Qingyu, unsure how to react.
She had assumed Xie Mingyao allowed Ye Qingyu to work as a maid at home to ease her financial burden and that the two got along well. But judging by these remarks, they seemed more like oil and water no, wait, it was more like her young mistress harbored some one-sided dissatisfaction toward Ye Qingyu.
If only she hadn’t spoken up!
Catching the maid’s anxious look, Ye Qingyu subtly shook her head. The maid quickly retreated to the kitchen, and only then did Ye Qingyu speak again, “Try it first and see if it’s good.”
The girl seated at the table wasn’t wearing her school uniform but a white, strappy dress that flowed like a fairy’s gown. Even with her striking features, the ethereal outfit suited her beautifully.
Her delicate brows and eyes carried an air of spoiled arrogance as she commanded, “Feed me.”
Ye Qingyu froze for a moment before lowering her gaze. She picked up her chopsticks, plucked a crystal dumpling, and brought it to Xie Mingyao’s lips. Xie Mingyao blinked in surprise.
[The female lead didn’t resist at all.]
System: [She’s biding her time.]
Xie Mingyao mused, who’s to say she isn’t enjoying it?
After taking a bite, Xie Mingyao like a pampered, highborn cat, offered a leisurely critique, “It’s passable. Still miles behind a five-star hotel chef, though.”
Ye Qingyu said nothing, but inwardly, she sighed deeply. The young mistress’s palate was so refined, it seemed she’d have to work hard on her cooking skills in the future.
After all, to win someone’s heart, you must first capture their stomach.
Xie Mingyao didn’t ask Ye Qingyu to keep feeding her being hand-fed wasn’t exactly comfortable anyway. Ye Qingyu tactfully retreated to the kitchen, eating quietly there, not daring to sit at the dining table with Xie Mingyao for fear of being criticized and sent away.
After breakfast, Xie Mingyao went upstairs to change into her school uniform.
Though their school was a prestigious private institution, the founder, a figure of considerable influence had decreed that all students, regardless of status, must wear the uniform. Even someone as domineering as the original hostess wouldn’t dare defy this rule, though she had tailored hers for a better fit.
By the time Xie Mingyao came downstairs, Ye Qingyu had already changed and was waiting by the door.
The girl carried a backpack on her shoulders, her spine straight as a rod. From a distance, she exuded an air of cool elegance like a handful of snow from a mountain peak or a piece of translucent glass.
The two of them sat quietly in the car as the driver navigated smoothly. By the time they arrived at the school, it was just before class, and many other students were also getting out of their cars.
School rules prohibited private vehicles from entering the campus, so Xie Mingyao, like everyone else, got out at the gate.
Both were well-known figures at school, and when the other students saw Ye Qingyu step out of the same car as Xie Mingyao, whispers immediately spread.
Walking behind Xie Mingyao, Ye Qingyu pretended not to hear, her eyes downcast, her expression calm as she followed her toward the school building. But before they had gone far, hurried footsteps approached from behind Zhou Ruohan and Wang Yuzhen quickly caught up.
“Mingyao-jie, why are you so early today?” Zhou Ruohan slung an arm over Xie Mingyao’s shoulder, her tone cheerful.
Ye Qingyu glanced up, her ink-dark eyes lingering on Zhou Ruohan’s hand resting on Xie Mingyao’s shoulder. A ripple of something flickered in her otherwise indifferent gaze.
The usually arrogant and aloof young miss didn’t push the overly familiar girl away, allowing herself to be half-embraced.
Xie Mingyao arched a brow and drawled, “A dog climbed onto my bed this morning and scared me awake, so I got up early.”
Her tone was deliberately provocative, likening a living person to a dog, and she even shot a pointed glance at Ye Qingyu, who stood slightly behind her. The implication was unmistakable.
Ye Qingyu remained silent, offering no rebuttal. Only then did Zhou Ruohan and Wang Yuzhen turn and notice her presence.
Zhou Ruohan nudged Xie Mingyao curiously and whispered, “What’s going on? I heard people say she rode here with you, but I thought it was just a rumor.”
“Oh, her? She’s my servant now,” Xie Mingyao declared, her face lighting up with glee, utterly unconcerned about the subject of her words standing right there. “From now on, if I say east, she can’t go west. If I tell her to do something, she has to do it. She even has to serve me, washing up, bathing me, taking off my shoes, cleaning my feet.”
Damn, even foot-washing?
Zhou Ruohan turned back to look at Ye Qingyu in surprise, but the cold-faced girl showed no reaction, as if the humiliation wasn’t directed at her. For a moment, Zhou Ruohan’s expression turned complicated.
Having spent enough time with Xie Mingyao, Zhou Ruohan knew she wasn’t the kind of person rotten to the core. Born into privilege, surrounded by sycophants, it was only natural for her to be a little domineering after all, many in their social circle were the same.
But Xie Mingyao usually just looked down on those from lesser backgrounds; she didn’t go out of her way to mock or bully anyone. Yet Ye Qingyu had the misfortune of catching Zhou Yanfeng’s attention.
Xie Mingyao adored Zhou Yanfeng to the bone. Even if Ye Qingyu kept her distance, Xie Mingyao wouldn’t let her off the hook.
Still, no matter how much Zhou Ruohan pitied Ye Qingyu, she wouldn’t speak up for her. She was Xie Mingyao’s person naturally, she had to stand on Xie Mingyao’s side. There was no room for betrayal.
Wang Yuzhen’s face lit up with delight. She laughed heartily and patted Xie Mingyao on the shoulder, saying, “Really? If the students at school found out, they’d probably despise her fiercely. Mingyao, does she really do whatever you say?”
“Of course! Last night she even bathed me,” Xie Mingyao boasted smugly. “And this morning, she made me breakfast.”
Hearing this, Wang Yuzhen felt a wave of disappointment. She had thought Xie Mingyao had done something truly humiliating, but it turned out to be just ordinary tasks like helping with a bath and cooking.
What kind of humiliation was this?!
Frustration welled up inside Wang Yuzhen, and a surge of malice overtook her. Unable to hold back, she said, “Mingyao, you’re just too soft-hearted. Making her bark like a dog and crawl on all fours, that’s real humiliation. I refuse to believe she’d still have the nerve to keep attending school or showing her face around Brother Zhou after that.”
