Give Her a Chance to Flirt! - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
She spoke politely: “Care for some tea?”
Lin Jiu then moved over from the Lin family’s side.
When Yu Yihan mentioned tea, she truly meant inviting Lin Jiu to drink tea.
Having just finished her business social activities, she felt a bit lazy. After calling someone to serve some tea snacks, she went over to the pearwood shelf to pick out tea leaves herself.
She originally intended to grab Enshi Yulu, but remembering the guest she was hosting, her wrist turned, and as if possessed by some mysterious force, she picked up a tin of prized Mingqian Longjing.
This tin of Mingqian Longjing was one Yu Yihan kept in the tea manor for her personal consumption.
Longjing No. 43, first pick, one bud and two leaves. The leaves were slender, emitting a clear, tranquil orchid fragrance—a top-grade specialty that was hard to come by.
Yu Yihan loved tea. Among green, red, white, oolong, yellow, and black teas, the Yu family excelled most in green tea. Influenced by her environment, Yu Yihan had the deepest affection for green tea, with a particular preference for Longjing.
Earlier, while hosting guests, she hadn’t touched this tin of Longjing, opting instead to brew Wuling Chun.
It wasn’t that she begrudged a pinch of tea leaves, but rather she felt it was a pity to let someone who didn’t understand Longjing drink it.
Now, looking at the expectant Lin Jiu and then at the Mingqian Longjing in her hand, Yu Yihan’s movements held a trace of hesitation.
However, regret did not align with Yu Yihan’s habits. She sighed silently. Just as she was about to take out the dry tea, a phone call came in. She glanced at it, set aside the tea-making for the moment, and answered the phone.
Lin Jiu, who hadn’t realized she’d been quietly snubbed by Yu Yihan, was waiting eagerly for her tea, only to see Yu Yihan get caught up in an endless phone call.
It felt very much like a child eager to go home and watch cartoons while the adult stayed downstairs chatting with a neighbor until the sun went down.
Lin Jiu sat obediently, waiting for the boiling water in the glass pitcher to cool to the appropriate temperature.
She was so bored she started absentmindedly picking at her fingers, but Yu Yihan’s business call only grew more intense.
It seemed a project manager had made a mistake. Yu Yihan’s tone gradually became stern. The trace of friendliness she had when inviting her for afternoon tea vanished, replaced by a cold elegance that could only be described as biting.
Coincidentally, Zhao Chun, who had been left behind at the Lin family tea manor, sent a message:
“Are you still at the Yu family tea manor?”
“Yeah.”
“Can I come over?”
“Up to you.”
Three minutes later, Zhao Chun messaged:
“Sister, I walked to the door of the tea room, heard Yu Yihan’s voice scolding someone, and my legs went weak on the spot. I’m going home first, you’re on your own—no, I mean, have fun playing with her, mwah!”
“.”
That’s it?
Lin Jiu set down her phone, glanced at Yu Yihan’s figure a few meters away, and then reached out to test the temperature of the glass tea sea.
She could accurately perceive that the water temperature was exactly $85°C$, the most suitable temperature for brewing green tea.
Looking again at Yu Yihan, who was still immersed in work, Lin Jiu understood the principle that if you want something done right, you do it yourself—
Besides, as expected of a fellow “Longjing tea spirit,” this tin of tea leaves was just sitting there, yet Lin Jiu felt as if she could hear it crying out, “Come and brew me.”
Why did that sound so strange?
Lin Jiu cleared the weird, saucy thoughts from her mind. She let out a soft breath, her expression becoming much more solemn as she lifted the glass tea sea.
Longjing is best brewed using the “middle-drop method.” Lin Jiu took two glass cups—the best for observing the posture of the tea leaves and the perfect match for green tea. She first poured about one-third of the hot water into the glasses.
At the same time, the faint sound of the pouring water reached Yu Yihan’s ears. She startled and immediately turned back toward the source of the sound:
“Wait—”
The protest, not yet uttered, died between Yu Yihan’s lips the moment she saw the scene before her.
Identical amounts of hot water had been poured into the two glass cups. Lin Jiu poured out the tea; the brown-rice-colored leaves rolled lightly onto her fair palm before being divided evenly into two portions and dropped into the cups.
It was normal for Lin Jiu to know how to brew tea, but the image before her gave Yu Yihan an indescribable feeling.
It was as if Lin Jiu was meant to be sitting right there, preparing and tasting tea with leisurely ease.
The soulless utensils and tea seemed to become docile in her hands, responding to her every subtle touch, allowing themselves to be summoned and driven by her.
She coexisted with them in such harmony that Yu Yihan felt making a sound would be an intrusion.
Under Yu Yihan’s gaze, the dry tea leaves unfurled in the hot water like withered wood meeting spring, gradually revealing their graceful, soft forms. A醉ing orchid fragrance gently wafted through the air.
Once the leaves had spread, Lin Jiu lifted the tea sea higher. The stream from the spout was thin, slowly injecting hot water into the same spot as before. The tea leaves tumbled back and forth under the force of the stream, allowing the tea flavor to radiate in all directions.
A pot of tea was brewed.
The ink orchid in the corner hadn’t reached its blooming period, yet the room was already filled with orchid fragrance.
Lin Jiu set down the tea sea, placing one cup in front of herself and handing the other to Yu Yihan’s seat.
The brewing process had put her in a great mood. Only when she was about to pick up her cup did she remember Yu Yihan was there. She looked up to find that Yu Yihan had finished her call at some point and was watching her.
“Please enjoy.”
Lin Jiu felt a bit bashful as she said it—using Yu Yihan’s tea leaves to treat her to tea; she really was a little “clever ghost.”
Presumably, great achievers don’t sweat the small stuff; Yu Yihan didn’t seem to care at all. She walked over quickly and picked up the tea cup without a word.
Man, did her throat get that dry from the phone call?
Lin Jiu thought sympathetically.
However, she soon stopped overthinking, as her attention was captured by the clear tea liquor in her hand.
The faint orchid fragrance was too alluring. Lin Jiu lowered her head to take a sip, slowly savoring that heart-refreshing sweetness. Just as she swallowed, she heard Yu Yihan say:
“Today’s tea… the orchid fragrance is very strong.”
Lin Jiu’s swallowing motion paused, then she said nonchalantly:
“Is that so? Probably because the quality of Sister Yu’s tea leaves is quite good.”
Lin Jiu gripped the glass cup tightly and took a sip of tea to calm her nerves.
The power of the “Green Tea Spirit” was starting to show. Any tea leaves that passed through her hands would see a boost in quality, let alone those she brewed personally.
She hadn’t brewed tea for anyone else before and had been negligent on this point.
However, the fact that Yu Yihan could sense it meant her perception of tea was quite high, no less than an old master at a tea factory.
While drinking, she glanced up at Yu Yihan’s expression.
Yu Yihan seemed to be in a good mood. Her eyes were filled with the satisfaction of being soothed by the Longjing tea, and her lips were moistened by the liquid. Consequently, the charm usually suppressed under layers of formal wear seized the opportunity to slip out.
Lin Jiu was so captivated by this unique “big sister” charm that she couldn’t look away, and accidentally got caught red-handed.
Yu Yihan leaned half-way into her chair, propping up her cheek lazily:
“Is that so? Perhaps.”
She was certain the tea in her hand had become more perfect.
Whether it was the fragrance, the color, or the taste, everything had improved by a level, allowing Yu Yihan to taste a flavor she had never experienced before.
But strangely, she had watched Lin Jiu’s entire brewing process just now. One could say Lin Jiu used the “best brewing method” everyone had summarized over the years; logically, it should have been identical to tea she brewed herself.
Where was the issue? The water temperature?
Yu Yihan decided to try it again herself later.
Years of habit allowed her to hide her amazement and surprise well. She looked again at Lin Jiu, who sat across from her and had allowed her to drink a Longjing that could be called perfect; this time, she looked much more pleasing to the eye.
Yu Yihan was born with shimmering “peach blossom eyes.” Once the light in her eyes softened, there were thousands of tender, affectionate nuances—so soulful that one would want to cover them with a hand for fear of losing one’s mind.
“…”
Lin Jiu’s legs, pressed together, rubbed slightly.
Oh no.
What happened? Yu Yihan suddenly looked so gentle. Lin Jiu thought with a racing heart.
She immediately chatted with the system to distract herself:
“I understand why everyone is afraid of Yu Yihan now.”
The system originally wanted to continue playing dead, but it perked up the moment it heard something bad about Yu Yihan.
“Tell me?”
“Others are afraid of making Yu Yihan angry, afraid of her losing her temper and being scary.”
Lin Jiu sighed faintly:
“I’m afraid that Sister Yu’s current appearance will charm me into jumping straight into the river of love—and I haven’t put on my swimsuit or goggles yet. I’ll be drowned in the river of love by Sister.”
She finished: “Actually, not wearing them is fine too. Maybe Sister prefers it with—”
“…Put your clothes back on! No one is allowed to be scandalous in front of the Jinjiang system!”
“.”
“Why aren’t you drinking?”
Yu Yihan’s inquiry came slowly.
Her voice had a cold texture, and her pacing was slightly slow, creating a unique and pleasant rhythm that lightly tapped on the eardrum. It made one involuntarily hold their breath and listen closely to what she said.
Lin Jiu used the motion of tucking her hair to rub her itching ear.
Who could withstand this!
If this continued, she really wouldn’t be able to hold out.
Yu Yihan seemed to hear her inner thoughts, or perhaps because the cup of tea had reached the bottom, the charming aura about her seemed to retract into her body with the last sip of tea, and she became serious and abstinent once more.
The topic also shifted from happy tea-drinking to:
“How is your preparation work for the Hongran Project going?”
The topic jumped so fast that Lin Jiu couldn’t help but make the sound of a “rookie dog”:
“Huh? What?”
Yu Yihan glanced at her: “If you have any questions, you can contact…”
She remembered that Lin Jiu, as a person with no official duties, didn’t have her assistant’s contact information. Her eyes caught the Longjing on the table again, so she took out her phone and opened a QR code:
“Add me as a friend.”
Lin Jiu immediately cooperated perfectly and scanned the QR code, marveling at how life truly had its ups and downs.
Who would believe it if told that Yu Yihan took the initiative to add her as a friend? Who would dare?
Friend added successfully.
On the left, Yu Yihan entered the remark: Mingqian Longjing.
Confirm. Lock screen.
On the right, Lin Jiu immediately hid her Friend Circle—full of clubbing, drinking, drag racing, and “Versailles literature”—from Yu Yihan.
Finally, the two looked at each other and smiled. Everything was peaceful and harmonious.
After adding her as a friend, Yu Yihan set off back to the company. Lin Jiu was about to leave the tea manor when she remembered she hadn’t replied to Zhao Chun’s message.
And Zhao Chun had asked her a moment ago:
“Kiddo, how was the experience of drinking tea with Big Boss Yu?”
Lin Jiu glanced at the chat history above, where Zhao Chun’s comment “my legs went weak on the spot from fear” was clearly visible.
She quickly found inspiration for a saucy remark and typed out the reply in one go.
On the other side, Zhao Chun was out having fun. Hearing the notification, she clicked to look.
Lin Jiu: My legs went weak, too.
