Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 50
The private jet touched down at the airport, where the welcoming party for Bai Shuixi had already arrived and was coordinating with the flight crew.
The cabin door slowly opened, and two bodyguards emerged first, scanning their surroundings to ensure everything was safe before quickly descending the steps to take their positions on either side. Following them were Bai Shuixi, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Xia You, and the visibly defeated Li Wei.
Li Wei trailed behind, her entire body radiating exhaustion as if she had been drained of all energy.
She had already revealed everything she could, there was nothing left of value to extract. Li Wei now understood just how ruthless those who casually moved eight or nine-figure sums could be, how they could devour a person without leaving even bones behind. She had practically sworn on her life that everything she said was true.
Negotiating with Bai Shuixi was pure torment.
She had no idea how Bai Shuixi’s competitors could stand her.
“By the way, Ms. Li, would you like to ride with me? I can arrange a room for you as well.”
Just as Li Wei’s mind began to drift, Bai Shuixi, who had been walking ahead suddenly stopped and turned back to look at her with an indifferent expression.
“After all, staying close would make it easier for you to update me on progress,” Bai Shuixi said with a faint, mocking smile. “You shared quite a few interesting details earlier… and in return, I won’t go back on what I promised.”
Hearing Bai Shuixi’s voice, Xia You also paused and glanced over from a short distance away, her expression far from pleased.
“…No, thank you,” Li Wei replied stiffly, her gaze flickering over Xia You with bitter complexity before she quickly looked away, her face pale. “I have some friends in Hong Kong I can reach out to. As for our agreement… I trust Ms. Bai won’t break her word.”
Only an idiot would willingly stay by Bai Shuixi’s side.
She had no desire to be interrogated and manipulated again, nor did she want to unwittingly become Bai Shuixi’s pawn.
Hong Kong’s situation was far too complicated, filled with powerful figures she couldn’t afford to cross. It was better not to get involved.
Bai Shuixi wasn’t surprised by Li Wei’s refusal. She merely smiled faintly, her expression cool and slightly derisive, before turning to one of the bodyguards. “Arrange a car for Ms. Li.”
Li Wei: “Uh, no!”
She instinctively tried to decline, but Bai Shuixi seemed to have no time to listen, casually issuing the order before ducking into the waiting car without a second thought for Li Wei’s opinion.
Li Wei: “……”
Xia You had already gotten into the car first and was now sulking by the small built-in fridge, curled into an unhappy ball with her elbows on her knees, propping up her chin as she glared at nothing in particular.
Bai Shuixi found it amusing as she slid in beside her, reaching past Xia You to retrieve a low-alcohol beverage from the fridge and handing it over with indulgent resignation. “What’s wrong?”
Xia You had been frowning in irritation when Bai Shuixi suddenly leaned in, catching her off guard. All she registered was the warmth of Bai Shuixi’s body, carrying the cool, damp breeze of Hong Kong, and the faint scent of perfume that enveloped her.
The way Bai Shuixi’s arm reached past her felt like the ghost of an embrace, just a fleeting touch, but enough to extinguish the simmering anger in Xia You’s chest like a candle snuffed by the wind, leaving only a wisp of dissipating smoke.
“What are you doing?” Xia You muttered, reluctantly accepting the drink but not drinking it, her voice quiet.
Bai Shuixi’s eyes curved slightly at the corners, a hint of amusement sparkling within, yet her voice carried a pitiful whine: “It’s nothing… I just noticed you ignoring me… What, has sister grown bored of me now that you’ve had your way? Are you tired of me already?”
As she spoke, Bai Shuixi leaned her body against Xia You, her hands sneakily finding their way to Xia You’s waist playing the victim while simultaneously stirring up mischief.
“……”
Xia You froze for a moment, but in that brief hesitation, the seemingly slender and delicate Bai Shuixi had already wrapped herself around her, those cool fingertips now tracing slow circles at her waist.
Xia You couldn’t stand this woman who loved to act spoiled while turning the tables. Pushing Bai Shuixi away with a mix of frustration and reluctant tenderness, she said irritably:
“I’m just angry and resentful. Li Wei has done so many despicable things, completely unscrupulous. Not only can we not make her pay, but why are we even helping her?”
Bai Shuixi chuckled, unhurried: “What makes you think she won’t pay the price?”
Xia You paused, looking at Bai Shuixi: “Huh?”
“This really is just a side benefit,” Bai Shuixi inched closer to Xia You, nestling against the warm, soft Omega with natural ease, crossing her legs as she smiled faintly. “Rescuing Zhou Wanwan was just a secondary goal. The main thing is handling some internal company matters.”
After a moment’s thought, Bai Shuixi improvised: “Well… you know how Xu Chuan has always wanted control of the company? She’s usually very cautious, leaving no openings. I figured this would be a good chance to provoke her into action so I can catch her in a mistake and have her removed.”
“Coming to Hong Kong also conveniently allows me to visit some renowned directors here, making future collaborations easier.”
“As for rescuing Zhou Wanwan… that really was just because the opportunity presented itself. Besides, I do need to pry some information out of Li Wei’s mouth.”
“?” Xia You frowned. “What information could she give you? Haven’t you already found Fang Shangzhe?”
“How else can we make her pay without getting that information?” Bai Shuixi pinched Xia You’s fingertips lightly, giving her a playful wink.
Xia You froze, finally understanding: “You’re planning to let them both return to the mainland before.”
“Shh,” Bai Shuixi teased, pressing a finger to Xia You’s lips, “Let’s keep this between us. Things might not go so smoothly later.”
“Ah…” Xia You murmured softly, looking slightly confused. “Is it… possible something might go wrong at the company? But can’t you just talk directly to Director Xin? Isn’t Tianyin fully controlled by the Bai Group?”
Bai Shuixi laughed: “No matter who holds the shares, you can’t just fire employees without cause they have contracts. Besides, Xu Chuan has been with Tianyin for years. Removing her abruptly would hurt employee morale… She needs to make the first mistake herself.”
Xia You didn’t quite understand the intricacies of corporate management and blinked. “Oh…”
Bai Shuixi found her adorable as she secretly puzzled over it. After a moment of contemplation, another thought suddenly occurred to her.
The smile on Bai Shuixi’s face faded slightly as she lowered her lashes and spoke quietly, “This matter won’t be easy to handle. There might be some twists and turns along the way… If Li Wei comes begging to you when she’s utterly destitute… would you soften your heart?”
“What are you talking about?” Xia You gave Bai Shuixi a surprised look. “I don’t want anything to do with her now. If it weren’t for your plan, I wouldn’t even be here.”
Bai Shuixi paused, then suddenly laughed and moved closer to embrace Xia You, whispering coquettishly, “Alright then, thank you for enduring this for me, sister. I love you the most.”
Xia You’s face turned slightly red as she stole a glance at Bai Shuixi’s expression. “Really?”
“Of course,” Bai Shuixi replied, looking out the window without noticing Xia You’s gaze. “Since we’re here, let’s enjoy the winter in Hong Kong properly.”
Unlike the dry cold of G City, Hong Kong’s winter felt more crowded. If one deliberately walked two blocks back, they could even see those old, characteristic buildings full of Hong Kong charm.
The extended Rolls-Royce sent to pick them up drove straight into the hotel. With attendants and assistants handling everything, Bai Shuixi and Xia You only needed to follow the guidance.
Standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows of the presidential suite, Xia You gazed down at the view of Victoria Harbour, absentmindedly watching the birds take off and land while keeping half her attention on Bai Shuixi, who sat on the circular sofa behind her.
Bai Shuixi had a glass of soda water in front of her as she spoke on the phone with the renowned director who had some ‘past history’ with Zhou Wanwan.
They were conversing in Cantonese, which Xia You couldn’t fully understand, but she guessed Bai Shuixi was discussing collaboration. The director seemed quite interested, engaging in a lively back-and-forth with Bai Shuixi, at least showing enthusiasm without any airs.
However, the situation seemed to shift later.
Just as Xia You was growing bored from not understanding the conversation, she caught words like ‘actress’ and ‘Zhou Wanwan,’ immediately perking up her ears.
“Director Cheng means to say you’ve never met this actress Zhou Wanwan?” Bai Shuixi’s voice carried a light, amused tone, her unhurried cadence laced with her usual aloof arrogance.
Whatever response came from the other end, Bai Shuixi let out a mocking chuckle, listening half-heartedly before glancing at the lines on her palm. “Hmm, that’s rather strange. I heard you and this top-tier starlet shared quite a fateful connection, only the ending was regrettably abrupt, leaving people eager for a reunion.”
After that, Bai Shuixi fell silent for a long while, likely listening to the director’s explanation.
A few seconds later, she raised a brow slightly, her face full of disdain as she said with feigned sincerity, “What? All of that was just rumors? How heartless of those spreading such gossip.”
Standing by the window, Xia You couldn’t grasp the full context, but judging by Bai Shuixi’s expression, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being sarcastic…
“Alright, I understand. I hope our next meeting will be just as pleasant,” Bai Shuixi added before hanging up.
“How did it go?” Seeing Bai Shuixi rise and walk toward her, Xia You naturally opened her arms for an embrace.
“Not very smoothly,” Bai Shuixi moved closer to Xia You, wrapping an arm around her waist, and smiled slightly as she held her while gazing at Victoria Harbour.
“That guy outright denies knowing Zhou Wanwan… Honestly, he’s been caught by Hong Kong media so many times, yet he still dares to deny it.”
“Mhm… mhm,” Xia You paused mid-nod and turned to look at Bai Shuixi. “How did you know Zhou Wanwan was photographed by Hong Kong media? There hasn’t been any news about her online for a long time.”
“Well…” Bai Shuixi stiffened for a moment. “We’re in the same circle, after all. Someone tipped me off.”
“Oh, I see.” Xia You asked casually without giving it much thought and instead continued, “So what do we do now that the other party won’t admit it?”
Bai Shuixi looked out the window at the vast, emerald-green scenery and gently stroked Xia You’s hair.
“Hmm, it’s fine. Very few things go smoothly from start to finish. If it’s not easy to handle right now, we can just wait a bit.
The restaurant downstairs seems pretty good. Why don’t we try it? Later, we can also take a stroll through the old streets outside.”
Xia You’s eyes instantly lit up, her gaze full of anticipation as she looked at Bai Shuixi.
“Do you like this plan that much?” Bai Shuixi asked, a little surprised.
“Mainly… it depends on who I’m with,” Xia You averted her eyes and asked softly, “Does this count as a date?”
Bai Shuixi was taken aback for a moment before breaking into a smile. “Of course it does. A strange city, just the two of us, this is definitely a date.”
In a direction Bai Shuixi couldn’t see, Xia You’s expression brightened, her gentle eyes brimming with quiet joy. Realizing Bai Shuixi was beside her, she quickly pressed her lips together slightly to conceal her excitement.
“Then let’s get going?” Bai Shuixi walked to the sofa, picked up the jacket casually draped there, and smiled at Xia You, extending her hand.
Xia You’s lips curved into a smile as she walked over and took Bai Shuixi’s hand.
As one of Hong Kong’s most renowned hotels, it boasted not one but three Michelin three-star restaurants, each with distinct flavors. Bai Shuixi chose the one that looked most familiar and led Xia You inside.
The restaurant was elegantly and quietly arranged, with just the right amount of space between booths, private yet not overly sparse.
Soft lighting cascaded from above, illuminating crystal decorations that cast shimmering, dancing reflections. These scattered lights fell on Xia You’s gemstone earrings, creating a dazzling, mesmerizing glow.
“What’s wrong?”
Xia You, who had been cutting into the grilled fish on her plate with a knife and fork, sensed Bai Shuixi’s gaze and looked up.
Bai Shuixi paused, her line of sight suddenly shifting in an odd way.
Sometimes, moments of affection come entirely unexpected. Seeing Xia You lift her head and smile at her, her gentle, beautiful eyes especially captivating, Bai Shuixi’s heartbeat instantly lost its rhythm.
“Did something happen?” Xia You asked again, her eyes filled with a hint of confusion as she smiled at Bai Shuixi.
Bai Shuixi was silent for a moment before lowering her gaze with a faint smile. Secretly committing Xia You’s expression to memory, she took a sip of champagne and said softly, “Nothing. I just think you look especially beautiful today.”
Xia You blinked, then immediately understood. Laughing, she went back to cutting her fish. “Teasing me again, are you?”
Bai Shuixi didn’t argue, merely savoring the lingering taste of champagne on her lips as the corners of her mouth curved slightly.
Dinner concluded in a leisurely, warm atmosphere as Hong Kong’s night slowly descended. Holding Xia You’s hand, Bai Shuixi rose and passed through the lounge area. Through the one-way glass curtain wall, she caught sight of the gradually illuminating streetlights and suddenly made an abrupt suggestion: “Sister, shall we go shopping?”
“Shopping?” Xia You looked at Bai Shuixi in surprise.
“Yeah,” Bai Shuixi smiled, stepping aside to reveal the dazzling nightscape behind her. “Look, shall we go?”
Xia You glanced outside, her eyes lighting up: “Let’s go!”
Shopping was indeed an option, but Xia You’s preferences clearly differed from most people’s.
While others visiting Hong Kong typically sought out glamorous, indulgent spots to enjoy activities forbidden on the mainland, Xia You bypassed all those places. She seemed only interested in exploring Hong Kong’s old streets.
With two bodyguards trailing behind, Bai Shuixi was pulled along by Xia You all the way to Temple Street.
The night market was in full swing, its old-fashioned architectural style reminiscent of classic Hong Kong films. Stalls lined the roadside, bustling with lively, down-to-earth energy.
“You like it here?” Bai Shuixi asked in surprise, eyeing the stalls laden with various trinkets.
“Yes, it’s so interesting,” Xia You said, gripping Bai Shuixi’s hand, her eyes bright as she pointed to a stall selling masks. “Look over there! That one seems really nice.”
“…” Bai Shuixi glanced at the array of peculiar masks and couldn’t help but chuckle. Though she didn’t quite understand the appeal, she was willing to indulge Xia You, casually waving off the bodyguards with a hand behind her back.
Having bodyguards in a place like this felt far too out of place, no matter how you looked at it.
Taking their cue from their employer, the bodyguards kept a discreet distance, trailing the pair from afar.
Bai Shuixi and Xia You melted into the crowd, joining other tourists in examining the novel little curios. At first, Bai Shuixi was somewhat awkward, unaccustomed to such crowded spaces, often frowning and trying to avoid the press of people.
As more and more visitors flocked to the night market, Bai Shuixi found herself unable to dodge the throng and was accidentally jostled right in front of Xia You.
The proximity was too close. Instinctively, Bai Shuixi tightened her arm around Xia You’s waist, pulling the warm body firmly against her.
It was purely reflexive, an unintended coincidence. But the moment she felt Xia You’s breath against the skin of her neck, Bai Shuixi’s heart softened, and suddenly, she didn’t mind the crowded environment so much.
