- You Smell So Good! After Reuniting, My Ex-Boyfriend Forcefully Took Me Back
- Chapter 15 - Smells So Good
Facing the expectant father who still looked quite young, the doctor was uncharacteristically gentle. He broke everything down, explaining and reassuring Fang Zhiyou that Guoguo was perfectly fine.
Fang Zhiyou finally let out a slow breath, the heart that had been hanging in his throat all along finally settling back into his chest.
As he carried Fang Leyun out of the consultation room, Fang Zhiyou finally remembered the perpetrator standing beside him.
He looked up. “Sir, you don’t need to worry, I…”
The moment he saw Liang Yanxiu clearly, the smile on Fang Zhiyou’s face froze and then slowly faded away.
After a long silence, he managed a strained, awkward smile. “Mr. Liang, it’s you.”
Liang Yanxiu had finally been acknowledged.
“What a coincidence, Mr. Fang.”
Fang Zhiyou didn’t know what to say, so he carried Guoguo in silence toward the elevators.
“I wasn’t looking at the road while driving,” Liang Yanxiu said. “If Guoguo has any issues later on, you can contact me anytime. I will take full responsibility.”
Inside the elevator, Liang Yanxiu tucked a business card into Fang Zhiyou’s pocket.
Fang Zhiyou looked down. His face was expressionless at first, but eventually, he gave a small, faint smile.
“Alright.”
Fang Zhiyou had come in a hurry and had taken a taxi. Now that it was time to leave, he stood at the hospital entrance with Grandma Zhang, holding Guoguo.
He waited for a ride-hail for a long time, but no one accepted the order. Even after he added a tip, the screen remained blank. It was likely because of a road closure near the hospital.
For a moment, Fang Zhiyou was at a loss for what to do.
Liang Yanxiu had been watching from across the street for a while. He saw Fang Zhiyou and Grandma Zhang just standing there at the hospital entrance, waiting aimlessly.
Finally, he drove up to them and rolled down the window.
“Do you need a ride back?”
Fang Zhiyou shook his head. “No thank you, goodbye Mr. Liang.”
Liang Yanxiu glanced at the child in his arms. “Get in. I’m heading that way anyway. The wind is picking up, and even if you can handle it, Guoguo can’t.”
The moment Guoguo was mentioned, Fang Zhiyou relented.
After a long moment of hesitation and internal struggle, he gritted his teeth and helped Grandma Zhang into the car.
Throughout the drive, Grandma Zhang gave directions back to the neighborhood while Fang Zhiyou sat there quietly, not saying a single word.
Once they reached the building, Grandma Zhang took Fang Leyun upstairs first. Just as Fang Zhiyou stepped out of the car, Liang Yanxiu stopped him.
“Mr. Fang.”
Fang Zhiyou paused. “Is there something else, Mr. Liang?”
Liang Yanxiu looked at him. “I can’t help but feel that Mr. Fang looks very familiar. Have we met before?”
Fang Zhiyou blinked, then shook his head.
“Mr. Liang, you must have the wrong person. I only moved to the Imperial Capital this year. Perhaps I just have a common face and you’ve mistaken me for someone else.”
A flash of regret crossed Liang Yanxiu’s eyes. “Ah, then it seems my memory has failed me.”
Fang Zhiyou didn’t want to continue the conversation. “Goodbye, Mr. Liang.”
With that, he turned and walked quickly into the building.
Liang Yanxiu leaned against his car, watching Fang Zhiyou’s back disappear around the corner.
He took a breath. There was a faint, almost imperceptible scent of magnolia in the air.
He looked down, his gaze darkening.
Logically, an Omega who wasn’t in heat and was properly wearing an isolation patch shouldn’t be emitting pheromones.
Yet, he could smell it.
It was a very familiar scent.
One he liked.
Walking upstairs feeling somewhat dazed, Fang Zhiyou reached his front door just as the door across from him opened.
Grandma Zhang set Fang Leyun down, and the little boy toddled over to Fang Zhiyou.
Grandma Zhang glanced at Fang Zhiyou. “Come here, I have something to ask you.”
Fang Zhiyou sighed and carried Guoguo inside.
“Guoguo, go to the bedroom and look for your yarn puppy.”
Once she had sent Fang Leyun away, Grandma Zhang sat across from Fang Zhiyou, looking quite ready for an interrogation.
“Is that Guoguo’s father?”
Fang Zhiyou remained silent for a long time before shaking his head. “No.”
“Do you think I’m blind, or that everyone else is? Guoguo looks exactly like that young man. I was in such a rush earlier that I didn’t realize it, but on the way back, I noticed something was off.”
Fang Zhiyou remained stubborn. “No, Guoguo’s father passed away.”
“Really?”
Seeing how serious he looked, Grandma Zhang’s resolve began to waver.
Fang Zhiyou nodded. “No, Grandma. Guoguo and Mr. Liang do look very similar, and I was also very surprised when I saw him just now. But Guoguo’s father is definitely dead. I saw it with my own eyes.”
Grandma Zhang didn’t want to bring up Fang Zhiyou’s painful past. After a long silence, she let out a sigh.
“Fine. I really thought that boy was the father. If it really were that heartless man, I’d break his legs!”
Fang Zhiyou suddenly burst into laughter.
