- You Smell So Good! After Reuniting, My Ex-Boyfriend Forcefully Took Me Back
- Chapter 12 - Mounting Pressure
“If you don’t have the strength to resist, then you just accept it!”
“Now my son has become a puppet, and you’re still standing there making sarcastic remarks!”
“Do you want Yanxiu to follow in your footsteps?”
“If you want to be a puppet in the old man’s hands, does my son have to be one too?”
“I don’t expect him to achieve anything grand, he doesn’t even have to marry that child from the Lin family.”
“I just wanted him to have someone by his side who actually cares for him.”
“Instead, he’s like a person with no life left in him.”
“How old is he? Look at the way he’s living, you can see how the rest of his life will play out already!”
Xue Yufen cried until she was breathless.
“If I had known it would turn out like this, it would have been better if he never came back at all.”
“My heart aches for him.”
“That is the son I suffered ten months of pregnancy to give birth to.”
“How could I not feel for him?”
“He used to be so happy, always smiling, even acting spoiled with me.”
“Look at him now, he’s just a piece of wood, a cold stone!”
“Liang Huaiqiu, give me back my son, give me back my son!”
“Give him back to me!”
Xue Yufen sobbed violently. Liang Huaiqiu held his wife, his own eyes reddening.
He was a weak man, his only pursuit in life had been pleading with Liang Tingzhou to let him marry Xue Yufen.
Once Xue Yufen had cried herself out, she began to feel for her husband as well.
“Those words I said… they were a bit hurtful.”
“Sigh… things aren’t easy for you either.”
She began to cry again.
“I’m just, I’m just feeling so suffocated.”
“Yanxiu gave me the cold shoulder today, and it hurts so much.”
Liang Huaiqiu held her close. “I know.”
“You know, you always say you know.”
After being married for most of their lives, Liang Huaiqiu knew how much pain his wife was in, so he coaxed her with gentle words.
The two stayed in the room for a long time before Xue Yufen finally managed to stabilize her emotions.
“Fine, children will find their own way.”
“Yanxiu is still young, and I’ve noticed that Dad’s temper has mellowed out quite a bit these past few years.”
“He clearly wanted to lose his temper at the dinner table today, but somehow he held it back.”
Liang Huaiqiu used a wet wipe to clean the tears from Xue Yufen’s face.
“Dad is getting old.”
“He mentioned feeling some chest tightness and shortness of breath a few days ago.”
“When people get old, they start thinking about family reunions.”
“I suspect he’s thinking about having a great-grandchild.”
Xue Yufen shot him a look. “Then let the children from the second and third branches provide them.”
“Aren’t those kids from the second branch always hanging around celebrities and influencers? If they let loose, there would be plenty of great-grandsons and granddaughters to go around!”
Seeing that his wife wasn’t as angry anymore, Liang Huaiqiu quickly followed her lead. “Right, I’ll find an opportunity to have a talk with them.”
Xue Yufen, still somewhat reluctant, pinched the flesh on his arm. “Hmph!”
While the mother was venting her frustration, her son was surrounded by a heavy, oppressive atmosphere.
Over the last few years, Liang Yanxiu had grown increasingly somber, rarely speaking or smiling.
His moods were unpredictable, to the point where even the assistants who saw him every single day couldn’t figure out his temperament.
For the past few days, the air pressure across the entire executive floor of the group headquarters had been incredibly low.
Inside the office, Liang Yanxiu sat behind his desk, surrounded by a circle of executives.
The sound of files being flipped echoed sharply through the room.
Han Qin checked the time repeatedly before finally gathering his courage to walk up to Liang Yanxiu, lowering his voice.
“Boss, it’s time to head home.”
Liang Yanxiu glanced at his watch and frowned, it was already an hour past clock-out time.
“Mhm, let’s call it a day.”
“Hard work, everyone.”
The executives finally breathed a sigh of relief and scrambled to leave the office.
For the past few days, Liang Yanxiu had been working like a madman, putting in overtime.
Even after finishing work, he wouldn’t leave the office.
Lately, he had been eating and sleeping at the company.
Because of this, all the staff serving under him were on edge, feeling the pressure mount significantly.
