Bai Youxi suddenly fainted right in the middle of the dining room.

Without any warning, she fell straight to the floor, unresponsive no matter how Ren Niannian called her name.

Bai Youxi felt her vision go black and then lost consciousness. When she opened her eyes again, she could hear Shen Jiangxu on the phone in the living room, his usually clear and gentle voice distinctly serious.

“…Yes, the pheromones are out of control.”

Before Bai Youxi could look for her, a small, sobbing face appeared before her. Before Bai Youxi could speak, Niannian burst into tears, “Mommy, Little Bai is awake!”

Shen Jiangxu glanced over, said a few more words, then hung up the phone and walked over, leaning against the doorway. “How are you feeling? The ambulance will be here soon.”

All the meridians in her body felt like a parched riverbed, full of painful cracks. The slightest movement from Bai Youxi would trigger new fissures, the pain so intense it left her mind numb.

She reached for the back of her neck the inhibitor patch had been replaced with a new one, but her pheromones were still surging out violently.

In the air, the faint fragrance of Shen Jiangxu seemed even more noticeable.

Bai Youxi tried hard to hold her breath, but managed a wry smile and shook her head. “It should just be my rut period starting. I don’t need to go to the hospital.”

“Yes, an S-class rut period.”

His pinewood grey eyes rested on her, cool and indifferent.

Bai Youxi lowered her eyes. “I’m sorry.”

She had been too accustomed and taken too much for granted.

Shen Jiangxu didn’t speak.

Niannian grabbed Bai Youxi’s hand, which was wiping away her tears, and sniffled, “Little Bai, don’t be afraid of the doctor. We’ll go get treated, and everything will be fine once you’re cured.”

Her voice was very soft, as if scratching at Bai Youxi’s heart, making her feel strange. Awkwardly, she chose to obey.

Shen Jiangxu only unzipped part of it and then stopped, first pulling down the mask covering Bai Youxi’s face.

Just as Bai Youxi was wondering why, Shen Jiangxu slightly stood on her tiptoes, leaning close to Bai Youxi’s ear, her breath like an orchid.

Bai Youxi did not remove the protective suit. She buried her head and walked out of the isolation consultation room, her steps hurried and stumbling.

She was going to find the doctor.

Bai Youxi then remembered something and quickly looked over. “How did I get in the car?”

Bai Youxi wasn’t talking about that. “I need to get out of the car. I have something to do.”

Shen Jiangxu stepped on the gas. “Go back to the hospital? What are you going to do?”

Bai Youxi clamped her mouth shut. She didn’t want to tell Shen Jiangxu.

She wanted to get her gland removed.

She would never admit that merely being in the same room as Shen Jiangxu made her desire threaten to completely consume her.
