Flash Marriage with a Seductive Beautiful Omega After Being Dumped/Having the Engagement Broken - Chapter 60.1
Her food, housing, and expenses were all provided by Shen Jiangxu. If she spent money to buy a gift, it would be equivalent to using Shen Jiangxu’s money to buy a gift for Shen Jiangxu’s birthday.
It felt far too strange.
After some thought, Bai Youxi decided to start with Shen Jiangxu’s passions.
Even though she didn’t seem to be an active classical dancer currently, Shen Jiangxu taught at the university. Bai Youxi figured she must love classical dance deeply.
Aside from that one video, she hadn’t actually seen Shen Jiangxu dance, so with a touch of imagination, Bai Youxi had worked on the 3D modeling.
Except for the basic components, every part of the music box was designed by Bai Youxi herself. After numerous revisions and adjustments, and sourcing parts from several different custom shops to assemble, the final version was what Shen Jiangxu saw now.
However, she didn’t know if Shen Jiangxu would like it, and she still felt quite apprehensive.
Taking in her expression, Shen Jiangxu simply picked up the music box and held it close to her face as if to inspect it closely. “Why are there no facial features?”
As she spoke, her pine-smoke gray eyes turned toward her.
That gaze was incredibly soft, yet it felt as if it landed directly in the depths of Bai Youxi’s heart, making her blurt out the truth. “I couldn’t make them as beautiful as Sister’s.”
Before even considering the precision issues at this scale, Bai Youxi had sat in front of her computer looking from every angle, unable to add features to the model.
Shen Jiangxu was simply too beautiful, especially those eyes.
She truly felt she couldn’t replicate Shen Jiangxu’s beauty and would never be satisfied with the model, so she chose to omit that part.
As it turned out, her decision was correct.
Knowing her own limits, Bai Youxi hadn’t tried to make the music box, a largely decorative item, too big, the finished product was only about the size of a palm.
Even without detailed facial features, that 7-8cm figure, which she had gone back and forth between many shops to custom order, was the result of careful selection to ensure the precision was sufficient in every other aspect.
If she had added even smaller facial features, she feared she wouldn’t have made it in time for Shen Jiangxu’s birthday.
Hearing Shen Jiangxu ask this now, even though Bai Youxi spoke the truth about not being able to match her beauty, her heart remained uneasy.
But before she could worry for long, Shen Jiangxu spoke. “No, it’s very beautiful.”
She added, “And the noodles? I want to eat them.”
Bai Youxi was stunned for a second, glancing at the cake on the coffee table.
Shen Jiangxu didn’t seem to notice. She moved the music box to one hand, let Niannian help her put the ring on a finger of her other hand, and then took Niannian’s hand as she stood up.
“Let’s go. Cook them now.”
Bai Youxi was already nervous about her cooking skills, being watched intently by Shen Jiangxu and Niannian only made her more fumbling.
She knew how to cook to some extent and had spent her idle days learning, but her skills were average. Even when strictly following tutorials, the results always felt like they were missing something.
So, she hadn’t originally intended to make noodles, especially since she didn’t know how to pull them.
But after much hesitation, Bai Youxi had tried kneading dough and practicing several times when Shen Jiangxu and Niannian weren’t around. With enough practice, she saw some results.
At the very least, the noodles on the cutting board were pulled from a single piece of dough. Even if the thickness was somewhat uneven, the overall appearance was passable.
However, while her pulling technique was decent, doing it right in front of Shen Jiangxu made her so nervous that she completely forgot the steps she had memorized.
In her flustered state, Bai Youxi couldn’t suppress her inner anxiety. By the time she finished the noodles and placed the bowl in front of Shen Jiangxu, that anxiety had reached its peak.
The unease bred a strong lack of confidence, making Bai Youxi regret it at the last second. She wanted to stop Shen Jiangxu from picking up her chopsticks.
But Shen Jiangxu already had her chopsticks ready and pulled the bowl closer.
Bai Youxi couldn’t exactly take the bowl back from Shen Jiangxu’s hands, so she could only say, “Sister, if it doesn’t taste good, just spit it out.”
Shen Jiangxu gave her a strange look but didn’t reply. She simply lifted the noodles to her mouth. Only after truly tasting them did she look up at her again. “It’s delicious.”
There seemed to be a hint of lightheartedness hidden in her soft voice.
The expression on Bai Youxi’s face didn’t look like she believed it at all, but Niannian, on the other hand, was extremely convinced. Sitting to the side, she blinked at Shen Jiangxu’s bowl. “Mama, can I have a taste?”
Shen Jiangxu fed Niannian a bite directly. Niannian’s eyes suddenly lit up, and she nodded repeatedly at Bai Youxi in apparent approval.
Bai Youxi’s expression turned to confusion until Shen Jiangxu pulled her arm, signaling for her to lean down so she could feed her a bite personally.
The distance between the two was suddenly closed. Bai Youxi stared blankly at the sincerity in Shen Jiangxu’s eyes and unconsciously looked away.
Even so, being fed personally was still a bit embarrassing.
But Shen Jiangxu didn’t care. She lifted the bowl and gently picked up some noodles, bringing them to her lips. “Ah..”
The same tone she used to coax Niannian.
Bai Youxi’s face instantly flushed hot. Ignoring her embarrassment, she quickly took a bite.
Since it was made from a single long noodle, even though Shen Jiangxu and Niannian had bitten off portions, the part in the bowl hadn’t completely separated. Bai Youxi had to bite it off herself.
This was something she hadn’t thought about before opening her mouth. She only realized it once the noodles were in her mouth, putting her in a difficult spot.
She looked from the bowl to Shen Jiangxu, only to find Shen Jiangxu staring straight at her. After catching her gaze, Shen Jiangxu gave a slight nod as if understanding perfectly. “Just bite it off. I don’t mind.”
Clearly, there was a faint trace of teasing in those pine-smoke gray eyes.
Bai Youxi’s face was likely crimson by now. She nodded, quickly bit through the noodle, and stopped meeting Shen Jiangxu’s eyes, straightening up to focus on the taste.
The noodles were smooth and chewy, the broth was fresh and perfectly salted, and with the crisp greens, it seemed… it appeared… it actually was quite good.
No, it was actually a bowl of noodles that exceeded her usual cooking level.
It was likely a delicate balance she had stumbled upon in her frantic state.
Bai Youxi’s heart returned to her chest along with the swallowed noodles, she finally felt at ease.
Seeing her expression, Shen Jiangxu could tell how she felt and asked directly, “How is it?”
It was a strange question to ask the person who cooked the meal, but the cook smiled and admitted it earnestly.
The rest of the meal went without a hitch. Shen Jiangxu said she didn’t mind and she truly didn’t, eating every bit of the noodles bite by bite. She barely touched any of the table full of dishes Auntie Tong had prepared, even though they were all her favorites.
Shen Jiangxu didn’t have a large appetite, and Bai Youxi had tried to keep the portion small when making the noodles.
But anyone could see that Shen Jiangxu was saving room for the noodles Bai Youxi had made.
Bai Youxi was moved to tears. The doubt she had pushed to the back of her mind earlier returned inopportunely, making her inexplicably firm in her thoughts.
Thus, later that night after coaxing Niannian to sleep and providing the necessary comfort, Bai Youxi caught hold of Shen Jiangxu as she was getting up to leave.
“Did something happen after you got off work today, Sister?”
Bai Youxi was trying to be as tactful as possible, but she was also afraid that if she were too vague, Shen Jiangxu would just gloss over her unhappiness.
Sure enough, Shen Jiangxu stared at her for a while before finally turning her gaze away to speak.
“It’s nothing. I just met with some family.”
