Five Years of Studying Medicine, Three Years of Flirting With Guys - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Monday at the hospital was undoubtedly overcrowded. Tang Linsheng, clutching steamed buns and tea eggs in his hands, dashed toward the elevator hall and squeezed through the closing elevator doors.
When the elevator reached the eighth floor and the doors opened, a crowd of people was standing outside. Tang Linsheng repeatedly said “Excuse me” as he struggled to push his way out through the people trying to enter.
“Whew—” He exhaled in relief and hurriedly ran toward the cardiovascular internal medicine department on the west side.
He was reporting to a new department today; he had to arrive early to leave a good impression on the senior doctors!
“Good morning, Head Nurse!” As Tang Linsheng rushed toward the men’s locker room, he happened to run into the Head Nurse coming out of the women’s locker room next door. He braked immediately, flashed a well-behaved smile, and greeted her politely.
The Head Nurse glanced at him, said nothing, nodded, and walked away.
Looking at the Head Nurse with her short hair and steady, brisk pace radiating a valiant and heroic aura he couldn’t help but marvel: As expected of a teacher at the professor level; her temperament is truly different.
Looking up again, it was already 7:15 AM. Only fifteen minutes left until work started! He glanced at the spicy vermicelli bun and tea egg in his hand, quickly pulled his staff magnetic card from his trouser pocket, and swiped it at the men’s locker room door.
With a “beep,” he pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Straight ahead from the entrance of the men’s locker room was a row of lockers. Behind the lockers were the toilets, and to the right was a row of bunk beds for staff on duty to sleep.
He hurriedly opened his locker, tossed everything in his hands onto the empty top shelf, took out his hanging clothes and pants to set them aside, and leaned against the locker to start changing his trousers. Fortunately, it was early September and he wasn’t wearing much; changing clothes in winter would have taken even more time.
However, the more anxious Tang Linsheng felt, the more his hands refused to cooperate. The zipper on his jeans suddenly seemed stuck and wouldn’t pull down at all!
It’s over, it’s over! If I’m late on my first day in the new department, I’m toast!
While he was focused entirely on struggling with his zipper, he heard the sound of someone showering behind him. He felt a bit of joy in his heart turns out someone else was as late as him! This “brother” even had the leisure to take a shower; he was truly impressive.
“Zzzzip—”
The zipper finally opened!
He quickly pulled his pants down, only to feel a damp aura approaching him. Looking up, his eyes were met with a stretch of fair, bare skin. With every movement, the abdominal muscles became tighter and firmer, their lines flowing smoothly. Tang Linsheng froze, quietly swallowing his saliva. He couldn’t tell if he was nervous or apprehensive, but his eyes uncontrollably flickered downward.
Mama mia, there are even two such beautiful mermaid lines (Apollo’s belt)!!
He quietly touched his own abdomen. Great he only had “one” muscle, a soft piece of flesh without any shape.
The other person had likely just finished showering, so he was only wearing a bathrobe. The front was wide open, clearly revealing well-defined abdominal muscles and the sexy mermaid lines that started from the anterior superior iliac spine and disappeared into the bathrobe.
Tang Linsheng blinked quickly and hurried to take off his pants, intending to change to the side, only to see the other person getting closer and closer until he was directly blocking him with his body.
Was he… was he being… “wall-slammed” (kabedon)?!
He hurriedly looked up, wanting to ask the man to step aside for a moment to give him some space. Because they were so close, Tang Linsheng had to shrink back a bit. Looking up at the other man’s chin, he said, “Excuse me, please let me through.”
“I’m sorry.” The male voice was steady and magnetic, with a touch of apology in its gentle tone.
The man put on his clothes and looked down at Tang Linsheng with a slightly embarrassed smile.
Tang Linsheng hadn’t even put on his own white trousers yet. When he looked up and saw the man’s full face, he couldn’t help but rub his eyes, his heart filled with disbelief!
He’s back?!
The man smiled at him, then turned toward the mirror to shed his bathrobe and briskly put on a white shirt. Two fair, slender hands moved between the shirt buttons, finishing them all in no time.
“You, you, you, you… you… you!!” The man approached again. Tang Linsheng’s heart rate suddenly accelerated; he could even hear the “thump-thump” sound of his heart in his ears. He closed his eyes, the palms of his hands and soles of his feet involuntarily heating up. He stuttered for a long time but could only manage one word.
“Excuse me, let me grab my pants.”
The man soon moved away from him. Tang Linsheng watched as he pulled his trousers on; those two long, powerful legs were now encased in dark suit pants. He blushed at the sight, and coming to his senses, immediately put his own pants aside, grabbed his white trousers and white lab coat, and went to the side to get dressed.
As he dressed, he couldn’t stop his eyes from drifting toward the other man.
It really felt like he was back! That face, that height, that physique it was definitely the Senior (Xuezhang)!
It was just that the Senior’s temperament had changed a bit; he had become steadier and gentler. Tang Linsheng remembered that back in university, other than smiling during class presentations, the Senior usually had an expressionless face. The aura around him was cold enough to make the “bees and butterflies” (pursuers) keep their distance.
But… he looked through the mirror at the person putting on the lab coat and wearing gold-rimmed round glasses, thinking: The Senior isn’t smiling now, either. That smile just now… does it mean he still remembers me!
Tang Linsheng’s heart began to race with excitement. He was just about to step forward to speak when the other man turned around and said with a polite but distant smile, “Morning. I’m heading out first.”
This… was clearly a sign that he didn’t remember him!
Seeing that the man didn’t even give him a second glance before turning to leave, Tang Linsheng’s heart sank, and his initial excitement vanished instantly. He put on his white lab coat and looked at the tightly closed locker door next to his own, feeling a bit dejected as he pinned his chest badge.
Tang Linsheng, why don’t you use your brain! Back in university, the Senior didn’t even know you! Did you really expect him to be gifted enough to know your name and greet you warmly six years later?
He scolded himself inwardly. Noticing there were only five minutes left until the 7:30 AM start time, he quickly grabbed his breakfast to leave. Before heading out, he checked his chest badge one last time to make sure it was straight, and with that glance, he realized something was wrong!
He had the wrong badge!
Taking a closer look, the name on the badge clearly read “Tang Linsheng” (唐霖晟) in three large characters. He let out an “ah,” and hurriedly ran out.
The old man at the hospital gate’s duty station must have given him the wrong badge this morning! Even though he had confirmed several times whether it was “Tang Linsheng,” he hadn’t expected the old man to be illiterate seeing a “Lin” with a “Lin” inside it, the man thought it was correct.
Fortunately, the Senior hadn’t walked far. He hurried to catch up and called out from behind.
“Senior… Tang Linsheng! This is your chest badge!”
Tang Linsheng turned around and looked at the person standing before him. The other was about half a head shorter than him, with hair a color leaning toward ash-brown. The ends were slightly curled, resting softly on his head, making him look very gentle. The fair face still had a bit of “baby fat” on the cheeks. With a wide smile, the boy held out the chest card.
He took the ID badge and asked, “Tang Linsheng?”
Tang Linsheng nodded. “Yes, this is your chest card! It belongs to Tang Linsheng.”
Tang Linsheng suddenly burst into laughter, a faint smile appearing in his eyes behind the glasses. “I mean, is your name Tang Linsheng? ‘Lin’ as in double-wood, and ‘Sheng’ as in life?”
Seeing the Senior’s smile, Tang Linsheng dazed for a moment and nodded woodenly. “Yes… My name is Tang Linsheng. ‘Lin’ as in double-wood, ‘Sheng’ as in life.”
The other man’s well-defined hand reached out with a badge. “Then I think this one should be yours.”
Tang Linsheng looked down; the badge indeed had his name on it.
“The duty room mixed up our names.” Looking at the dazed expression of the boy with the baby-fat face, Tang Linsheng suddenly found this fair and tender boy quite cute. “With the same name, we are truly destined.”
Tang Linsheng’s face heated up. Not knowing what to say for a moment, he could only give a silly smile.
“It’s about time. Shall we go to the shift handover together?” Tang Linsheng looked up at the clock in the hallway and extended an invitation to this “little friend” who shared his name.
