Chapter 5: The Movie Queen’s Little Butterfly (05)
Movie Queen Lin made an unexpected appearance, and she was even in her unreleased film costume and makeup!
The staff of V-Video were dumbstruck. It took them a good while to react, followed by a surge of ecstasy as if they had been struck by a jackpot.
Unfortunately, the interview time was nearly up. The crew members left with their cameras, constantly looking back, appearing as though they wished they could stuff Movie Queen Lin into their pockets and take her with them.
Once the cameras had completely left, Jian Yixin finally asked Lin Qinglu, “Why did Teacher Lin come over?”
Lin Qinglu leaned against the edge of the table, her legs crossed. Beneath the qipao, a narrow glimpse of snowy white skin was faintly visible.
She didn’t look at Jian Yixin; instead, she lifted her fan to her eyes, inspecting the hollowed patterns on the thin wood. Her voice grew even lazier:
“I had nothing to do after finishing my scenes, so I came over to take a look.”
Jian Yixin subconsciously recalled Liu Lele’s previous reminder and realized, “Were you afraid we would make a mistake?”
“I didn’t embarrass you, did I?” Jian Yixin pursed her lips and smiled.
Embarrass? What embarrass?
Lin Qinglu thought back for a moment before remembering she had casually said something similar.
Lin Qinglu made a clicking sound with her tongue: “No.”
Jian Yixin felt relieved: “That’s good then.”
Making the mission target satisfied with her professional quality was also part of building a good relationship.
Lin Qinglu felt inexplicably a bit happier. She thought for a moment and said, “No need to worry. Even if my people perform poorly, they wouldn’t dare release it.”
After all, Lin Qinglu’s fans could tear the production team apart with their bare hands.
It wasn’t that no media dared to publish negative news about Lin Qinglu, but for a lighthearted, low-budget program like V-Video, there was no need to look for trouble.
Jian Yixin suddenly burst out laughing.
Lin Qinglu was a bit confused by her laughter: “What is it?”
Did she say something wrong?
“Nothing,” Jian Yixin said with a smile, her eyes curving into little crescents.
She was reminded of what Liu Lele had said. These girls’ way of speaking was truly too cute.
The Movie Queen never expected that her proud, triumphant, and extremely confident statement would be interpreted as “cute.”
Whenever Jian Yixin smiled, Lin Qinglu found it easy to lose her train of thought.
Song Pianqian’s face was beautiful, but Lin Qinglu was used to beauties; no one’s features could usually make her obsessed.
However, when this woman smiled, a wave of gentleness flowed over like water. It was delicate, quiet, and mixed with a faint tingling sensation.
Lin Qinglu suddenly twisted her waist and walked straight ahead, her velvet-gloved hand gripping the doorknob.
The door opened, and the light from inside and outside intertwined. Under the light, Lin Qinglu turned her face, looking as if she were covered by a layer of misty gauze.
“Come out. There will be afternoon tea soon.”
Jian Yixin followed her out of the lounge, only then realizing why the crew had afternoon tea again.
It turned out that Ye Zixuan had too many “NG”s today, slowing down the work progress, so she was providing treats for everyone.
Ye Zixuan’s assistant was delivering milk tea and grass jelly one by one. When she reached Jian Yixin, the latter politely refused.
She hadn’t done much; rather, she had spent the afternoon admiring Lin Qinglu crushing Ye Zixuan. There was no need to take this small favor.
The assistant insisted that it benefit the entire crew. Jian Yixin pushed back twice, which caught the attention of Ye Zixuan, who was talking to Shen Yu nearby.
“Pianqian, is it?” Ye Zixuan called out the original body’s name in a soft, gentle voice. “Please take it. I’m treating you to milk tea.”
After saying that, she gave a playful smile.
Jian Yixin waved her hand and said, “Really, it’s fine.”
“Everyone has one.” Ye Zixuan’s tone softened, almost like she was acting spoiled.
Jian Yixin caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye; behind Ye Zixuan, Shen Yu’s face had turned black.
Jian Yixin’s lips curved. Just as she was about to say something, a lazy call came from behind:
“Song Pianqian.” Jian Yixin turned around.
Lin Qinglu was leaning on her royal blue sofa, pointing at the grass jelly beside her: “Do you want some?”
Whether she wanted to eat it or not didn’t matter, but in front of the female lead and the second male lead, she had to give her own “SSS-level” target some face.
Since the distance was too far, Jian Yixin didn’t reply loudly. Instead, she nodded to show her stance, turned back, and said to Ye Zixuan, “I’m going to Teacher Lin’s side. You guys chat.”
Ye Zixuan watched Song Pianqian walk away before sitting back down next to Shen Yu. She clenched her hands, looking dejected, and whispered, “Look, A-Yu. Even though it’s something I bought… the ones she wants to… give, she’ll take. But she doesn’t want mine.”
Shen Yu: “…”
This was the first time he had seen his “Little Grass” so despondent. His first reaction wasn’t heartache, but a genuine desire to ask:
Why are you so enthusiastic toward that woman Song Pianqian??
But what else could Shen Yu say?
In the end, his “love brain” as a supporting male lead overrode everything. As he looked at Ye Zixuan’s profile—while she was at her most psychologically vulnerable after being suppressed by Lin Qinglu all day—he said:
“Little Grass, every time I see you in such pain, I think… it would be better if she wasn’t in the entertainment industry.”
Shen Yu’s words were pointed. A flash went through Ye Zixuan’s eyes.
She paused, then lifted her head with a pure expression:
“A-Yu, don’t say such things. Even though I really am upset…” She forced a smile, looking fragile yet strong. “It’s okay. I’ll just keep working hard.”
“You really are too kind.” Shen Yu’s eyes darkened as he gazed at the girl he vowed to protect. The retreat he had felt earlier was replaced by a quietly reignited resolve.
For Little Grass, and for himself.
Thinking this, he looked toward Lin Qinglu in the distance with a veiled, cold gaze.
Lin Qinglu was in a very good mood. As soon as she beckoned, Song Pianqian came over—looking especially obedient.
At this moment, she seemed to have forgotten that she was a Movie Queen, the woman at the top of the crew’s food chain, and that a tiny dance double wouldn’t dare disobey her.
Once the little double arrived, she pointed at the grass jelly: “Here, eat.”
Jian Yixin was in a bit of a dilemma; she didn’t particularly like sweets. Moreover, whether based on her own soul or the original host’s upbringing, she didn’t have the habit of eating casually in such a setting.
But the current situation was hard to refuse. Jian Yixin scanned the room and saw that aside from Lin Qinglu, everyone else was eating or drinking. She immediately said:
“Is Teacher Lin not eating?”
Lin Qinglu was stunned: “No.”
She hadn’t done her magazine shoot yet. How could she dare eat sweets? If she gained even a sliver of weight, Luo Chun would nag her for three days and three nights.
Jian Yixin smiled: “Then I’ll stay with Teacher Lin.”
