Exiled with a Useless Skill 'Gacha', but It Turns Out to Be a Legendary Pull That Only Summons Gods - All I Get Are Beautiful Goddess! - Chapter 14
We had conquered the uncharted dungeon, the “Sage’s Labyrinth,” and triumphantly returned to the frontier city of Frontier.
As we passed through the city gates, a crowd of people who had been eagerly awaiting our return greeted us.
Fellow adventurers, guild staff, and ordinary citizens alike.
They welcomed us with wild enthusiasm, treating us like heroes.
“Kai! You did it!”
Even Gordon, the guildmaster, clapped me on the shoulder with a beaming smile.
His hand felt gentler than usual.
Though I felt a bit embarrassed, I was genuinely happy to feel the warmth of the people in this city.
Amidst the celebratory mood, a messenger arrived from the royal capital.
The man stepped out of an extravagant carriage bearing the royal crest, approached me, and respectfully presented a sealed letter.
“Lord Kai Astel, an invitation from His Majesty the King.”
The guild fell silent.
An invitation addressed personally to me from the king.
The contents urged me to participate in a martial tournament held as part of the Arklight Kingdom’s founding anniversary celebrations.
Back at our residence, we gathered to discuss the invitation.
“This is a trap, Master,” Minerva said, her eyes sharp behind her glasses.
“The royal family and nobles won’t simply overlook your extraordinary power. This tournament is nothing more than a spectacle, a way to measure your strength in public and then bring you under the royal family’s control.”
Her analysis was probably correct.
Participating would undoubtedly drag me into troublesome political schemes.
Refusing might be the wiser choice.
“No, I’ll participate.”
But I decided to go.
I understood Minerva’s warning, of course.
“I can’t hide in the frontier forever. This is the perfect opportunity to show off my strength our strength to those who exiled me, fair and square.”
This was my own battle.
A small act of revenge against those who mocked me on the day I was exiled.
And, I added with a grin,
“The grand prize ‘the right to have any one wish granted’ is pretty tempting too.”
I had a wish I wanted fulfilled.
A wish to keep living freely with these companions of mine.
The goddesses silently supported my decision.
“A perfect opportunity to demonstrate my lord’s valor. My spear shall lead you to victory,” Brynhildr declared, burning with fighting spirit.
“If this is what you’ve decided, Kai, I’ll follow you anywhere. But please, don’t get hurt,” Freyja said, ever concerned for my well-being.
“Good grief. Master is more battle-hungry than I expected. But it’s not a bad decision. I’ll gather all the data you need to win,” Minerva said with a shrug, though her eyes were filled with determination.
Even Hestia poked her head out of the workshop and cheered, “Make sure to show off the divine weapons I made for you!”
With my companions’ support, I resolved to head for the royal capital.
That wretched city I had fled from when I was exiled.
This time, I would walk with my head held high.
To return as a triumphant hero.
But along the way, I would reunite with a fated adversary in an unexpected form.
As if my past was making one final stand, it rose to block my path.
