The day Su Mingran died was the exact same day the Su family’s foster son, Qi Xinghe, was officially added to the family genealogy.
As Su Mingran lay on his hospital bed attached to an IV, the television was filled with news about Qi Xinghe:

No one knew that the real second son of the Su family was Su Mingran. No one even knew it was Su Mingran’s birthday.
Reflecting on his life, Su Mingran found it utterly desolate. He was the biological second son, kidnapped at age seven and finally returned home at thirteen but everything had changed. His place had been taken by the foster son, Qi Xinghe. His parents were indifferent, his brother favored the outsider, his sister looked down on him, and even his childhood friend, Gu Pei the only one who once cared now loved Qi Xinghe.
In pain and despair, Su Mingran pulled out his IV and used his last bit of strength to crawl to the hospital rooftop. He called his brother. The phone rang for a long time before Su Mo answered impatiently: “What do you want now?”
Su Mingran paused, then smiled. “Brother, do you hate me that much? Do you wish you’d never see me again?” Su Mo replied coldly: “Yes. So stop calling me.”
Su Mingran hung up and jumped.
When he opened his eyes again, he found he hadn’t died. Having survived, Su Mingran decided he would never return to the Su family. Life there was too bitter, and he refused to repeat the past. This time, he only wanted to stay far away from them.
But then, they all started to regret it.
Watching his grief-stricken parents, his siblings desperately trying to compensate him, and Gu Pei begging for a fresh start, Su Mingran said coldly: “It’s too late.”
