Everyone I Flirted With Says They Won’t Let Me Go (Quick Transmigration) - Chapter 16
After the incident when Zhao Yi brought Xia Chengyu to the villa that day, Gu Chengxi spent a long time coaxing Xia Chengxi before finally managing to bring him back. Whatever requests Xia Chengxi made, Gu Chengxi accepted them all without question.
“Brother, do you know how to ski?”
Gu Chengxi glanced up at him before lowering his head back into a pile of documents. “Yes, why?”
“Let’s go skiing someday.”
Gu Chengxi looked skeptical. “You know how?”
“Of course!”
Gu Chengxi had a plan in mind and calmly nodded in agreement.
Early the next morning, Xia Chengxi was half-dragged, half-carried by Gu Chengxi onto a plane. Xia Chengxi had been having trouble sleeping lately, so Gu Chengxi, concerned for him, slipped a sleeping pill into his water. He slept through the entire flight abroad.
By the time Xia Chengxi was woken up, it was already dark outside. Bundled up tightly by Gu Chengxi, he was half-embraced as they disembarked and headed to one of Gu Chengxi’s estates in the area.
The estate was nestled at the foot of one of the Alpine mountain ranges. In winter, it was a skiing paradise.
Stepping out of the car, they were greeted by layers of peaks stretching into the distance. Majestic snow-capped mountains stood tall and grand, with a vast expanse of white everywhere. Walking on the accumulated snow, it crunched underfoot with every step.
Xia Chengxi, unbothered by the cold and rarely having seen so much thick snow, was overjoyed and played to his heart’s content. However, Gu Chengxi didn’t indulge him for long. After letting him play in the snow for a little while, he brought him into the estate, where the servants had long been prepared.
Seeing that Xia Chengxi showed no signs of fatigue, Gu Chengxi chuckled and said, “Alright, settle down. You need to adjust to the time difference first. Tomorrow, I’ll take you skiing.”
Xia Chengxi tugged at him. “Brother, sleep with me.”
“You’re this old and still need me to sleep with you?”
“Will you or not?”
Gu Chengxi promptly got into bed. “Fine!”
Day by day, only about a month remained of their year together. During this last month, Xia Chengxi was determined to cherish every single day, minute, and second with Gu Chengxi, refusing to waste any of it.
After a full night’s sleep, Xia Chengxi, for once, didn’t linger in bed. He washed up early, slipped under the covers, and straddled Gu Chengxi’s waist, acting mischievously.
Gu Chengxi opened his eyes and looked at him with amusement. In one swift motion, he flipped Xia Chengxi over, pinning him beneath him, and tugged off his clothes, rubbing against him.
“Starting a fire first thing in the morning? Do you not want to go out today?”
Xia Chengxi played coy. “I’m just trying to wake you up. But if you want to spend the whole day in the room with me, go ahead.”
Gu Chengxi was both exasperated and amused. He pinched the tender flesh on Xia Chengxi’s inner thigh and bit his lip fiercely, sweeping through the inside of his mouth. “I’ll let you off for today. But outside, you can’t be willful. You have to listen to me, understand?”
Xia Chengxi patted his chest confidently. “Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
The estate was not far from the Alps, just over half an hour’s drive away. After dawdling for a while, the two finally set off, arriving at the skiing spot well into the afternoon, around two or three o’clock.
This was a private ski resort, with Gu Chengxi’s bodyguards discreetly stationed around. Xia Chengxi, gazing at the endless snowy mountains, geared up with his skiing equipment and stood to the side, taunting Gu Chengxi, “Brother, let’s have a race.”
Although skiing wasn’t Gu Chengxi’s specialty, he was quite skilled at it. Being challenged by Xia Chengxi left him both amused and exasperated.
“Fine, a race. What happens if you lose?”
“If I lose, I’ll do all the work myself.”
Gu Chengxi raised an eyebrow, surprised that the usually shy-in-bed Xia Chengxi would propose such a bet. Without hesitation, he agreed, “Deal.”
Xia Chengxi brazenly asked, “What if you lose?”
“What do you want?”
Xia Chengxi stared at him and sneered, word by word, “I want to top you.”
Young but ambitious, fearless of anything.
Gu Chengxi wouldn’t scold him for that. He’d praise him.
“Xia Xia, I admire your lofty ambitions. For that alone, I’ll take this bet with you today.”
Without further ado, Xia Chengxi pulled down his goggles, gripped his ski poles, and leaned forward, ready to go. “Bro, let’s go. I’m definitely going to win you!”
With a whoosh, the two shot down the steep slope. The wind whistled past their ears as Xia Chengxi raced freely down the slope, his spirited demeanor bordering on arrogance. He even taunted Gu Chengxi several times to speed up.
His skilled movements and control over his speed were clearly those of an experienced skier.
But Xia Xia hadn’t left Jiang Cheng in ten years. How had he learned to ski like this?
Gu Chengxi grew suspicious.
As he pondered, the finish line came into view. Gu Chengxi had been trailing not far behind Xia Chengxi the entire time. With a sudden burst of speed, Xia Chengxi accelerated, but Gu Chengxi swerved to his right, executing a sharp turn and an unexpected burst of speed that overtook Xia Chengxi.
Glancing back, Gu Chengxi curled his lips into a smirk, as if saying, “Just messing with you.”
They reached the finish line just five seconds apart. Xia Chengxi pulled off his goggles dejectedly, plopping onto the ground to catch his breath. Gu Chengxi didn’t hold back his praise. “Xia Xia, you were amazing. Your skiing skills are top-notch. Who taught you?”
Xia Chengxi pouted and gazed into the distance. “None of your business. I lost fair and square.”
Gu Chengxi reached out to pull him up. “Are you angry?”
“Do I seem that petty?”
Xia Chengxi stood up, and bodyguards immediately stepped forward to take their skiing gear.
“Tired?”
“Bro, you’re underestimating me. It was just one slope, and not even that steep. I could easily ski down further.”
Gu Chengxi frowned as he looked down the steeper slopes below, clearly disapproving. After all, beyond this point, there would be no one from his team around.
“With your skills, going further down.”
Xia Chengxi shot him a sidelong glance. “Didn’t you just say my skills were top-notch?”
After a moment’s thought, Gu Chengxi decided not to spoil his fun. He figured that as long as he kept an eye on him, nothing should go wrong.
He summoned a bodyguard and gave some instructions. Xia Chengxi continued skiing down, with Gu Chengxi following at a leisurely pace. Xia Chengxi was fast and steady, taunting Gu Chengxi to speed up again. Reluctantly, Gu Chengxi accelerated to keep up.
They were having so much fun that they had strayed far from the mountaintop. But just as they reached the end of the slope, an accident happened.
For some reason, Xia Chengxi, who had been skiing smoothly, suddenly lost his balance and stumbled. Gu Chengxi, who had been watching him closely, felt his heart leap in fear. Instinctively, he shouted, “Xia Xia, stop now!”
The slope grew steeper, and Xia Chengxi couldn’t stop in time. The ski on his left foot shattered instantly, and he tumbled head over heels down the steep slope.
“Xia Xia!”
Gu Chengxi’s eyes widened in horror. Without a second thought, he sped forward, threw away his ski poles, and lunged at Xia Chengxi, wrapping his arms tightly around him as they both rolled down the steep slope together.
The two tumbled for what felt like an eternity before finally coming to a stop. Dizzy and disoriented, Xia Chengxi lay sprawled in the snow, struggling to get up. After a long moment, he lifted his head and saw Gu Chengxi lying motionless not far away.
Crawling on all fours, Xia Chengxi made his way to Gu Chengxi’s side and checked his breathing, letting out a sigh of relief.
Looking around, all he could see was an endless expanse of white. The sky was nearing dusk, and there was no telling when the bodyguards would arrive.
The mountain at night was even more perilous. For now, their only option was to find shelter.
Xia Chengxi tried with great effort to help Gu Chengxi up, but given his own slight frame and the toll the fall had taken, he simply couldn’t manage it. Just as he was about to drag Gu Chengxi by his upper body, Gu Chengxi opened his eyes.
Overjoyed and relieved, Xia Chengxi exclaimed, “Brother, you’re awake! Are you hurt anywhere?”
Gu Chengxi pressed a hand to his forehead, his gaze dazed as he looked at Xia Chengxi. His brow was furrowed tightly, clearly in discomfort.
Panicked, Xia Chengxi asked, “Brother, are you injured? Is it serious? Does it hurt badly?”
After falling from such a height and still protecting him…
“I’m fine,” Gu Chengxi said nonchalantly, teasing him. “It’s just that you’re too heavy. You made my chest ache.”
He pulled a communication device from his pocket, but it was already broken. “Let’s find a place to rest for a while. Rescue should be here soon.”
Nearby, a large rock jutted out from the slope, covered in a thick layer of snow. The two made their way over and sat leaning against the rock wall.
“Brother, do you think we’ll die here?” Xia Chengxi asked.
Gu Chengxi gently touched his forehead. “Don’t talk nonsense. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Xia Chengxi leaned against him. “If I hadn’t insisted on coming skiing, none of this would’ve happened. Brother, do you think I’m annoying and troublesome?”
Gu Chengxi kissed his forehead. “It’s not your fault. I agreed to come skiing too. I’m the one who failed to protect you.”
Resting his head on Gu Chengxi’s shoulder, Xia Chengxi said optimistically, “But look, Brother, the snowscape here is actually quite beautiful.”
Gu Chengxi wrapped his arms around him. “It is beautiful. If you like it, we can come here often in the future, alright?”
“Mm.”
Xia Chengxi’s head began to spin. He hadn’t noticed it earlier, but now that he was sitting still, he felt increasingly drowsy. His vision blurred, and he tilted his head before passing out.
Thinking he had fallen asleep, Gu Chengxi took off his coat and wrapped it tightly around him, holding him close. He didn’t dare sleep himself, keeping his eyes fixed on the sky, afraid of missing something.
A long time passed before the sound of a helicopter finally echoed through the sky. In the mountains, shouting was too risky, so Gu Chengxi could only wave his arms to signal. But from high above, his small figure was nearly impossible to spot. The helicopter couldn’t fly too low either, as the rotor’s noise could trigger an avalanche.
This was their only chance. If the rescuers didn’t find them here, it was unlikely the helicopter would return to this area anytime soon.
Without changing his expression, Gu Chengxi brought his wrist to his mouth and bit down.
At that moment, Twelve, who was urgently scanning the area from the helicopter, seemed to spot something in the distance.
Using binoculars, he saw a conspicuous SOS signal.
“Over there! Hurry!”
Several bodyguards rappelled down from the helicopter. Twelve sent their location to the rescue team, then followed the bodyguards down and rushed toward Gu Chengxi.
When they reached him, the bodyguards froze in shock. Gu Chengxi was rigidly slumped against the rocky wall, eyes tightly shut, motionless yet standing firm like a mountain.
The wounds on his hands were gruesome and horrifying, clearly bitten open by force. Perhaps fearing the wounds would clot, he had gnawed so deeply that tooth marks were visible on the exposed bones. A few ice crystals had formed around the injuries, and a small amount of blood still trickled down his wrist, staining large patches of the snow on the ground.
The white snow on the rocks was now dyed a stark crimson. A large “SOS,” written in Gu Chengxi’s blood, stood out vividly and painfully.
“Quick, notify the rescue team!”
The bodyguards efficiently stopped Gu Chengxi’s bleeding, loaded both him and Xia Chengxi onto the helicopter, and flew toward the rescue point.
Xia Chengxi’s injuries weren’t severe. Just some bruises from tumbling down the mountain and a mild concussion. He regained consciousness quickly.
But Gu Chengxi was in critical condition from blood loss alone, not to mention a broken rib and a concussion.
In the intensive care unit, doctors worked frantically. After waking, Xia Chengxi sat outside the ward, unable to hide his distress. Twelve approached him. “Young Master Xia, you need to focus on your own recovery now.”
Xia Chengxi took a deep breath and smiled bitterly. “I understand.”
The ward door swung open as the doctors finally relaxed. While Twelve was still speaking with them, Xia Chengxi rushed inside. His eyes stung at the sight of Gu Chengxi’s pale face on the hospital bed, and tears suddenly streamed down his cheeks.
Sitting by the bed, Xia Chengxi gently stroked Gu Chengxi’s battered hand, choking up too much to speak.
[Little Green Hat, will my brother die?]
The system replied gloomily, [I’m not sure. But if he doesn’t wake up, you’re finished.]
As long as he wakes up, nothing else matters.
Xia Chengxi kept vigil by the bedside for three or four days, but Gu Chengxi showed no signs of waking. The doctors said that although his life had been saved, the severe blood loss had deprived his brain of oxygen, and whether he would regain consciousness remained unknown.
Hearing this, Xia Chengxi nearly lost his temper and had to be restrained by Twelve.
Over the following days, Xia Chengxi leaned close to Gu Chengxi’s ear every day, talking to him.
“Brother, if you don’t wake up soon, I’m done for.”
“If you don’t wake up, I’ll run off with Chu Ran!”
“If you stay asleep, I’ll stop loving you.”
But Gu Chengxi on the bed remained unresponsive.
Leaning over the bedside, Xia Chengxi grew even more terrified. He didn’t care about sincerity points—he just wanted Gu Chengxi to wake up and live.
He’d do anything, as long as Gu Chengxi woke up!
Feeling a hand gently stroking the back of his head, Xia Chengxi jolted upright and stared in disbelief at Gu Chengxi, who had opened his eyes.
Gu Chengxi gave a weak smile. “What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to see me awake?”
Xia Chengxi pressed his cheek against Gu Chengxi’s hand, a scalding tear falling as he sobbed, “No, I’m very happy.”
“What a silly fool.”
