Everyone I Flirted With Says They Won’t Let Me Go (Quick Transmigration) - Chapter 1
In the bar, the air was thick with the red glow of lights and the scent of alcohol. The heavy, chaotic beat of metal music, the clinking of glasses, and the unrestrained laughter of men and women cut through the dance floor, enveloping the entire space in a frenzied atmosphere.
Xia Chengxi sat in a corner, completely indifferent to the wild crowd around him and the many covetous, admiring glances directed his way. His dark, luminous eyes were fixed on the glass he was swirling in his hand.
The ice cubes clinked rhythmically against the sides of the glass. His fingers were slender and well-defined, the joints tinged with a faint reddish hue, making them exceptionally attractive.
He had been sitting there for over three hours and had already turned away fifty-six people attempting to strike up a conversation. Glancing down at his wristwatch, he noted it was almost ten o’clock. If the person he was waiting for didn’t show up soon, he would leave.
After repeatedly rejecting numerous advances, the hopeful suitors hesitated to approach further, silently speculating about who Xia Chengxi might be waiting for.
“Sir, may I buy you a drink?”
Xia Chengxi looked up at the man who was feigning composure, though his hand trembled slightly as he held his glass, and his Adam’s apple bobbed nervously with each hurried swallow.
Faced with the man’s attempt to flirt, Xia Chengxi seemed somewhat troubled. Tilting his head with a smile, he replied apologetically, “I’m afraid my answer might disappoint you.”
His voice was crisp and melodious, carrying an indescribable allure.
The man’s heart skipped a beat. Those few words alone stirred something within him, causing his pulse to race and his emotions to waver. His Adam’s apple convulsed violently as he rasped, “N-no problem. Enjoy your evening.”
The rejection was expected.
The surrounding onlookers didn’t know whether to feel relieved or regretful.
Observing the myriad emotions flickering across the faces of those around him, Xia Chengxi toyed with his glass, his interest waning. It was all so dull.
He raised the glass and downed its contents in one go.
He drank too hastily, and a trickle of the crimson liquid traced a path from the corner of his lips down to his jaw. A large patch of his white shirt was soaked through, revealing a hint of what lay beneath—teasing, yet not overtly provocative.
Sensing the sudden shift in the atmosphere, Xia Chengxi set the glass down and lazily sank back into the sofa. His gaze shifted to the bar’s entrance, where he spotted a tall, slender figure standing there. He frowned disdainfully.
[Second target character, Chu Ran, has appeared. Sincerity level: zero.]
The man at the entrance was dressed in an impeccably tailored suit, looking refined and composed. After scanning the room, he casually found a quiet spot and sat down.
Xia Chengxi’s brow furrowed abruptly.
Not long ago, Xia Chengxi had encountered an accident and died. Forced to bind with a system after his death, he now had to obtain one hundred percent sincerity from target characters in each world. Having already died once, he naturally didn’t refuse this opportunity. However, the system was utterly shameless, even its name reeked of melodrama.
The system was called the “Green Hat System.”
In this world, Xia Chengxi was an orphan. He had known the first target character, Gu Chengxi, for four months and successfully raised Gu Chengxi’s sincerity level to over ninety percent. But that was still far from enough.
To accumulate the energy needed to proceed to the next world, he required at least two full sincerity levels, meaning he had to win over at least two targets.
Once he filled the progress bar, he would be reborn.
But this world seemed a bit complicated because Xia Chengxi had fallen in love with the first target, Gu Chengxi. And now, he had to face the second target character of this world: Chu Ran.
Xia Chengxi gave Chu Ran a thorough once-over, his entire demeanor radiating an icy aloofness that kept others at bay. After a long pause, Xia snorted disdainfully, [He’s not as handsome as my husband.]
[Are you blind?]
[Not as rich as my husband, either.]
[The Chu family’s assets span the globe, with influence in both legitimate and underworld circles. Chu Ran is the second son of the Chu family—his net worth is incalculable. What’s more, he and the original Xia Chengxi grew up together as childhood friends.]
[Childhood friends? How so?]
[Xia Chengxi was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. Chu Ran, as the illegitimate son of the Chu family, lived with Xia Chengxi in the same orphanage, relying on each other until he was ten. After that, the Chu family took him away, and the orphanage vanished without a trace.]
Xia Chengxi stroked his chin, [So, Xia Chengxi and Chu Ran forged a deep bond of camaraderie from childhood?]
[All these years, Chu Ran never stopped searching for Xia Chengxi. Though he’s had a string of lovers, every single one of them resembled Xia Chengxi.]
Xia Chengxi picked up a glass from nearby and strode toward Chu Ran. Those who had been discreetly watching him quickly made way.
Xia Chengxi smiled, [What a pity. Meeting me is bound to break his heart and shatter his lungs.]
The bar was bathed in multicolored lights, and from a distance, the details were unclear. But as Xia drew closer, he realized Chu Ran was indeed strikingly handsome—with deep-set features and an aura that effortlessly overshadowed every other fly and mosquito in the bar.
Yet, he seemed far too detached.
“Mind if I sit here?”
Chu Ran gave a faint smile but said nothing.
Xia Chengxi couldn’t decipher the meaning behind that smile.
Was it a yes or a no?
He stood there, waiting for a reply.
“Xia Chengxi, Gu Chengxi’s regular lover. It’s exactly 10 p.m. Are you here to drink with me? Or to hit on me? Or perhaps for a one-night stand?”
Xia Chengxi raised an eyebrow. “I just wanted to share a drink and maybe become friends.”
“I don’t need more friends.” Chu Ran gestured toward the door with his eyes. “If there’s nothing else, you can leave.”
[Little Green Hat, this target is tough—too composed. I’m not a fan.]
[Your husband is an eternal iceberg, and you still managed to melt him. Keep at it! Where there’s a will, there’s a way—you’re the best!]
[…Got it. Now scram.]
Xia Chengxi curved his lips into a smile, revealing a glimpse of pearly white teeth that accentuated his flawless face, causing the glasses of the bar’s lingering admirers to clatter to the floor.
“Right now, Gu Chengxi and I are business partners. You’re appealing, but unfortunately, I can’t touch you.” Chu Ran downed his drink, ice cubes and all.
So that’s how it is.
Xia Chengxi blinked. “I just thought you looked familiar and wanted to chat for a bit.”
Just then, Xia Chengxi’s phone vibrated—a call from Gu Chengxi.
Xia held the phone, conflicted, letting it ring for a long time without answering.
Chu Ran looked at him with a faint, ambiguous smile. “Not going to pick up?”
Xia Chengxi pressed his lips together and stood. “Sorry, I need to take this call.”
From where he stood, Chu Ran could see Xia Chengxi’s expression as he answered the phone—one of clear impatience and profound weariness.
Watching the young man’s demeanor, a flicker of suspicion crossed Chu Ran’s brow. He took out his phone, lit the screen, and gazed at the lock screen wallpaper—a photo of two people together. One of them, a carefree and innocent youth, looked exactly like Xia Chengxi.
Outside the bar, the young man on the phone wore an expression of extreme annoyance, yet his tone and words were gentle and soft, almost intoxicatingly so.
“Brother, when are you coming back? I miss you so much.”
A deep voice came from the other end of the phone, laced with laughter and boundless affection. “I’ll be back in a couple of days. Has Xia Xia been good at home? Where are you now?”
“I’m having dinner with classmates, and later we’re going to sing karaoke.”
“I’ll send someone to pay for you later.”
“No need, I have money.”
“Then come home early. I’ve prepared a surprise for you at home.”
“Okay, bye, brother!”
System: [Two-faced and utterly shameless.]
Xia Chengxi hung up the phone. [Of course, I treat my lover and strangers differently. Is there a problem? My husband said he prepared a surprise for me, so I’m heading home now.]
[No problem, Actor Xia. Do whatever makes you comfortable. It’s ten o’clock, and I should be going. I’ll leave the rest to you. Hurry up and flirt around, be promiscuous, and charm Chu Ran to win his 100% sincerity, mwah!]
[…]
Xia Chengxi took a deep breath and walked back into the bar. Chu Ran’s seat was already empty, with a note tucked under the glass bearing a string of phone numbers.
Xia Chengxi showed no sign of joy, casually slipping the note into his pocket before turning and leaving the bar.
The villa was brightly lit. As Xia Chengxi opened the door, he spotted someone lounging lazily on the sofa. Seeing that the person hadn’t even taken off his shoes, Xia Chengxi dashed over and threw himself into his arms.
“Brother?” Xia Chengxi clung to him, a stark contrast to his cold and aloof demeanor at the bar. Now, he had completely shed the day’s pretense. His fair cheeks were flushed, and his bright eyes sparkled with joy, even excitement. “Didn’t you say you’d be back in a couple of days? Why are you here today?”
Gu Chengxi wrapped his arms around Xia Chengxi’s back. His aloof and intimidating features carried the authoritative chill of someone long accustomed to power, but facing his beloved, his expression was filled with tenderness.
Noticing the fine fuzz on Xia Chengxi’s pink ear, Gu Chengxi gently nibbled and teased it, causing Xia Chengxi’s waist to go weak instantly.
“I missed you, so I came back.”
His voice, deep and seductive, rose and fell with a captivating rhythm.
Xia Chengxi leaned against Gu Chengxi’s chest, feeling the powerful muscles beneath the expensive suit. He couldn’t resist reaching to unbutton Gu Chengxi’s shirt.
Gu Chengxi caught his mischievous hands. “Didn’t you say you were having dinner and singing with classmates? Why are you back so soon?”
Xia Chengxi lied without batting an eye. “I came back as soon as I heard you had a gift for me.”
Gu Chengxi patted his bottom threateningly. “Still not going to tell me the truth?”
The authority in his narrowed eyes nearly made Xia Chengxi crumble.
He looked at Gu Chengxi sincerely, a bright smile on his face. “Brother, I’m not lying.”
“But the bodyguard said you were at the bar all night and even initiated a conversation with someone.” Gu Chengxi tightened his embrace. “With Chu Ran, no less?”
Xia Chengxi buried his face in the crook of Gu Chengxi’s neck, refusing to let go. Annoyed, he bit down but couldn’t bring himself to do it hard, leaving only a faint mark. Muffled, he said, “You had someone follow me.”
Gu Chengxi soothed him, indulging his whims. “I just wanted to protect you.”
Xia Chengxi stayed silent.
“Alright, tell me about what happened tonight.”
“I barely spoke to him. I didn’t even have a drink with him.”
“Feeling wronged?” Gu Chengxi noticed the person in his arms remained silent. His calloused thumb brushed against Xia Chengxi’s delicate lips. “Didn’t Xia Xia say she loves me the most? Then why were you initiating conversations with him? Were you planning to ignore my call earlier?”
“No!” Pressed against a sensitive spot by Gu Chengxi, Xia Chengxi’s entire body thrummed with restless desire. “I just missed you so much. You’ve been away for so long.”
Gu Chengxi lifted her with one arm while grabbing the red wine from the coffee table with the other. “It seems I’ve truly neglected my Xia Xia. But you still lied to me, didn’t you? Since that little mouth can’t tell the truth and you enjoy drinking so much, tonight I’ll drink with you until you’re thoroughly intoxicated—enough to keep you in bed for days.”
A shiver ran through Xia Chengxi’s body. A passionate night awaited—she could hardly wait!
