Embracing My Wife - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Honey in My Heart
Xu Anran would always remember the first time she met Gu Nanbei.
Outside, a light drizzle was falling. She ran to her dorm with a book over her head. As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw a person standing in the narrow hallway.
Her chestnut-brown, wavy hair was dripping with sparkling raindrops that clung to her sharp chin, outlining a beautiful silhouette. She was wearing a long, white shirt that was so wet it clung to her, highlighting her graceful figure.
She was full and alluring, like a flower on a branch with dewdrops clinging to it.
Perhaps sensing the gaze from the doorway, her beautiful, willow-like eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she lifted her eyes.
This was the first time Xu Anran and Gu Nanbei met each other’s gaze.
In that one look, Xu Anran learned what it meant to be captivated, what it meant to have a heart flutter, or what it meant to fall in love at first sight.
As for what Gu Nanbei felt, that remained unknown.
Because Xu Anran wasn’t familiar with Gu Nanbei, she didn’t have the courage to ask and could only wonder to herself.
Perhaps she just thought the girl without an umbrella in the rain looked a bit disheveled.
Xu Anran was a very shy girl who also knew how to control her emotions. Even though she was captivated by the beautiful and alluring peach in front of her, she pretended as if nothing had happened.
Xu Anran carefully walked past Gu Nanbei. Despite her caution, she still made contact with Gu Nanbei’s body.
God knew how narrow the dorm hallway was.
She swore she didn’t do it on purpose!
Although Gu Nanbei’s shirt was soaked, her skin was hot. With just a momentary touch, Xu Anran felt the blood in her body begin to boil.
She greedily wanted to touch her again, just one more time.
But she didn’t do anything that would cross the line.
First, she was truly timid, and second, she saw Gu Nanbei’s fingers clenched tightly into fists, her arm tensed, as if she were angry about something.
Xu Anran could feel that something bad was about to happen.
Sure enough, as soon as she sat down, she heard a loud bang. The dorm door was kicked open.
At that moment, the air seemed to freeze.
Xu Anran secretly moved a little and glanced sideways. She saw her beautiful and fashion-forward roommate standing at the doorway, her smile slowly freezing from a look of defiance to a look of panic.
“Nanbei, why are you here?” Her roommate moved her lips, trying to force a smile, but as she took one step forward, her arm was wrapped up by someone.
There was another girl next to her.
The girl looked sweetly at her. “Xiaoxiao, who’s that? Is she your sister?”
The roommate tried to push the girl’s hand away, but the girl held on tightly, even tilting her chin up at Gu Nanbei as if she were showing off.
The roommate became more flustered and pushed a few more times. The girl began to cry softly, her tone a little whiny. “Xiaoxiao, who is she? What’s wrong with you!”
The awkward situation lasted for a long time.
In the end, it was Gu Nanbei who resolved it.
She didn’t say a word. She just turned around and looked at Xu Anran. Her previously clenched fingers slowly relaxed, and she squinted slightly. “Could I borrow your towel?”
Xu Anran wasn’t dumbfounded or surprised.
Instead, she quickly took down a brand-new towel and handed it to her, reminding her softly, “I haven’t used this one.”
Gu Nanbei nodded and went into the bathroom.
She took Xu Anran’s towel.
Xu Anran held her pen, pretending to write.
In her heart, she was thinking.
Will she give the towel back to me later?
