Qin Yu looked into Xia Jin’s eyes and said earnestly, “I guess this little bird eventually flew away. It chose to take its family out into the world to make its own fortune and later discovered many precious treasures, sharing a lot of them with the handsome man as repayment.”

After speaking, Qin Yu added his commentary: “A remarkable little bird that knows how to repay kindness.”

Xia Jin smiled. “Yes, that’s how the story goes. The little bird had its own thoughts. It was grateful to the handsome man, but that’s all it was, gratitude.”

“By the way, a little reminder for you two,” Xia Jin glanced at the two girls from her company, “don’t lose yourselves over a man.”

The production team eagerly clapped in sycophantic agreement.

Xu Lingqing laughed. “I think a worthy partner wouldn’t let you lose yourself. He’d choose to let you go for the sake of your future.”

As she spoke, Xu Lingqing deliberately or perhaps not cast a glance at Shen Du.

It had to be said that Xu Lingqing was incredibly sharp. Based on just half a day of interaction, she had pieced together the dynamics between Xia Jin and the other three.

Shen Du met Xu Lingqing’s gaze expressionlessly before smiling faintly. “But what if I could give her a better future?”

Jiang Qingli finally tore his gaze away from the table full of dishes Xia Jin had prepared and finally said something useful.

Shen Du stared at the plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes for a long time without speaking.

Director Zhang chimed in, “Now that Teacher Xia has finished her story, even though we’re all eating together, the members of Teacher Qin’s team still have to taste the dishes they made themselves!”

Qin Yu glanced at the unappetizing-looking dishes and shrugged indifferently.

Guan Yunshi, however, frowned, clearly displeased with the arrangement.

“Brother Yu, maybe you should just skip it!” she cooed, her voice dripping with concern.

Qin Yu gave her a cool look. “No need. I’ll just eat whatever.”

His tone was distant and indifferent, as if Guan Yunshi were nothing more than a stranger.

Guan Yunshi’s smile froze, a flicker of hurt flashing in her eyes.

Xia Jin observed all this and couldn’t help but shake her head.

This girl really never learns her lesson!

Qin Yu picked up his chopsticks, took a bite of tomato, and immediately frowned.

“How does it taste?” Director Zhang couldn’t resist asking.

Jiang Qingli cautiously took a bite and also made a face as if he could barely swallow it.

Ke Yun outright spat it out.

Only Qin Yu kept a straight face as he swallowed, as if he weren’t eating a culinary disaster but a perfectly normal dish.

“It’s passable. At least Jiang Qingli had some conscience, he only used half a bag of salt instead of a whole one to poison us,” he remarked flatly.

Guan Yunshi looked at Qin Yu, her eyes filled with heartache.

She quickly poured a glass of water and set it in front of him. “Brother Yu, drink some water quickly, or your throat will hurt later.”

Qin Yu glanced at the offered cup but said nothing.

“I just remembered something I need to take care of,” Qin Yu set down his chopsticks and stood up. “I’ll go make a call first.”

Before leaving, however, he picked up the water glass Xia Jin had been drinking from earlier and downed the remaining water in one gulp.

Under the astonished gazes of everyone, he walked away with complete composure.

Guan Yunshi’s face instantly turned deathly pale. She gripped her chopsticks so tightly her knuckles turned white.

Xia Jin calmly picked up her chopsticks and continued eating her meal, as if everything around her had nothing to do with her.

The dining room was filled only with the sounds of eating, and the atmosphere was somewhat awkward.

This time, Qin Yu directly called Old Master Qin.

Without hesitation, Qin Yu blurted out, “Grandpa, your granddaughter-in-law is jealous of Guan Yunshi and is now planning to remarry and take my child with her!”

Upon hearing this, Old Master Qin flew into a rage, “What?! Absolutely not! How dare that Guan girl bully my granddaughter-in-law and great-grandson!”

“You’d better believe it, so hurry up and have a word with the Guan family. Tell Guan Yunshi not to come looking for me anymore, or it won’t be good for your granddaughter-in-law’s pregnancy!”

“Alright, alright!” Old Master Qin couldn’t stop grinning at the mention of his great-grandson. “By the way! Since your wife is already pregnant, when are you two holding the wedding?”

“Huh? What? Grandpa, the signal’s bad here, I’ll hang up now. Don’t forget to talk to the Guan family, Guan Yunshi is still right next to your granddaughter-in-law, making her angry!”

Just as Qin Yu walked back into the dining room with his phone, Guan Yunshi’s phone rang.

This time, it was her father calling. Guan Yunshi smiled apologetically at everyone, “Excuse me, I need to take this call.”

Stepping outside, she answered the phone, only to hear her father say, “Xiao Shi, you should come home.”

“Xiao Shi! Come home!” Her father’s tone grew stern. “A daughter of the Guan family does not interfere in other people’s relationships. I’ve already asked your brother to pick you up.”

Before Guan Yunshi could refuse, her father hung up.

Suppressing her frustration, Guan Yunshi told the production team that she had urgent matters to attend to and needed to leave.

Director Zhang, understanding the situation perfectly, allowed her to go handle her affairs.

It was obvious to everyone that Qin Yu had no interest in Guan Yunshi.

Before leaving, Guan Yunshi shot Xia Jin a fierce glare, her eyes brimming with resentment.

Xia Jin raised an eyebrow, refusing to indulge her, and immediately tapped Qin Yu’s shoulder to tattle, “Your sister just glared at me!”

Qin Yu placed a piece of braised pork in Xia Jin’s bowl, “Nonsense. I’m an only child.”

Guan Yunshi walked to the manor’s entrance to wait for Guan Jiayou. Suddenly, she couldn’t hold back her sobs.

She had been pampered and adored since childhood and had never experienced such humiliation before.

She couldn’t understand why Qin Yu would treat her this way.

She loved him so much, she was willing to do anything for him.

Why couldn’t he see how much she cared?

Just then, a car pulled up at the manor’s entrance. Guan Yunshi quickly wiped away her tears and composed herself as if nothing had happened.

Ye Tiyan and Xia Zhixue stepped out of the car, chatting and laughing, appearing very close.

Xia Zhixue noticed Guan Yunshi. She had always wanted to befriend the Guan family’s eldest daughter but never found the opportunity.

She never expected to run into Guan Yunshi while filming the show.

So, Xia Zhixue linked arms with Ye Tiyan and approached her, “Miss Guan, hello! I’m Xia Zhixue. I’ve been wanting to chat with you since the last banquet, but I never got the chance.”

Guan Yunshi was in a bad mood at the moment and didn’t feel like engaging with Xia Zhixue, so she merely nodded perfunctorily.

Xia Zhixue suddenly noticed the tear stains at the corners of Guan Yunshi’s eyes. She recalled the rumors that Guan Yunshi had long harbored feelings for Qin Yu.
