- Chapter 97 - on a holy night with you
“So, lately my friend recommended a new makeup style, and I’ve been trying it out.”
“Ah, I thought something had changed recently. So that’s what it was.”
“Hehe, you noticed it on the first day I tried it—impressive, Kenichiro.”
“Well, of course I did. I’m your boyfriend, after all.”
“Ehehe, noticing even the little changes… that makes you a really good boyfriend, huh?”
It was 11 PM.
Haruki and I were still talking, the soft glow of a warm light illuminating the room.
Our conversation had shifted to her high school friends.
Apparently, it was one of them who had taught her the new makeup technique.
“Um, Haruki-san. I, uh.”
“What is it?”
“Don’t you think we’re sitting a little too close?”
That aside.
We were both sitting on the same futon.
Now, this might be just my personal opinion, but…
Sitting together like this on a futon.
“Honestly, it’s not an exaggeration to say we’re practically sharing a bed.”
“Kengorou?”
“Ah!”
Oops. I’d let my thoughts slip out loud.
But seriously, with the lights dimmed, the mood had turned well, let’s say, rather romantic.
The warm orange glow of the lamp cast a soft light on Haruki’s face, making her look even more beautiful—no, seductive, almost.
“Fufu, are you getting a little flustered?”
“H-Hey!”
Haruki gently rested her head on my shoulder.
“U-uh, Haruki-san?”
“Hehehe, sitting like this kinda feels like we’re living together, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, I guess it really does.”
Haruki looked up at me with a teasing grin.
It was obvious she was trying to fluster me on purpose.
Not that I minded. In fact, she was so cute when she teased me like this, I couldn’t complain.
“Well then maybe it’s time I strike back.”
“Huh—?”
I slipped behind Haruki and gently pulled her into a tight embrace from behind.
“Honestly, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t tease me too much. I’m doing everything I can to hold back right now.”
“W-what, um.”
Haruki, who’s great at teasing but not so great when she’s the one being teased, squirmed a little.
The orange lamp didn’t reveal her blush, but I was sure her face was flushed red.
She avoided my eyes and fidgeted nervously.
“Ugh, that’s totally unfair.”
“You started it, you know? Tempting me out of nowhere when I wasn’t prepared.”
“But you like it, don’t you?”
“Yeah. I love it. I love you.”
Our faces were so close, we could feel each other’s breath.
Everything about the moment felt warm, tender, and irresistibly dear.
And then—just like that.
The distance between us disappeared.
Our lips met.
