- Dumped by One, Chased by Another? My Ex's Sister Is a Gal and She's Coming for Me
- Chapter 90 - The Party Begins at the Ayase Household
Christmas Party.
It’s a time for decorating the room, eating food and cake, and making a lot of joyful noise.
When I stepped into the Ayase family’s guest house, it felt like I’d entered a whole different world.
“Whoa.”
When did they even manage to decorate all this?
Wreaths were hung here and there, and there was even a Christmas tree set up.
“Wow. Thank you so much for all the preparations.”
“It’s no problem at all! Don’t worry about it!”
“Well, still, this is really impressive.”
Honestly, if they were going to do all this, I should’ve helped out too.
After all, I’m one of the participants here.
“No, it’s really okay. What matters most is that you enjoy yourself.”
“Alright.”
“If you don’t mind, could you help with cleaning up later?”
“Sure, I will.”
It might sound arrogant to say, but I pride myself on having gained a fair amount of life experience.
Yet, compared to this, it feels like I’m completely outmatched.
I couldn’t help but feel the stark difference between an adult and a child.
“Setsuko-san, thank you so much. And Haruki too.”
“Oh, you’re very welcome.”
“See? Isn’t it amazing?”
Haruki puffed out her chest proudly.
“By the way, where’s Tokishirou-san?”
“Oh, he’s still stuck at work. He said he’d hurry home as soon as possible, but.”
Haruki shook her head lightly, indicating he wasn’t here.
“I see, well, it can’t be helped.”
During events like Christmas, the number of patients tends to increase.
People tend to overdo it with drinking or other things, and various factors lead to more illnesses and hospital visits.
Given Tokishirou’s already hectic schedule, it’s almost inevitable that he can’t make it.
“Well then, let’s just enjoy ourselves, the three of us.”
“Cheers to that!”
“Definitely.”
We laid out the dishes Setsuko had prepared.
“Cheers!”
We poured juice into our glasses and toasted.
Though Setsuko and I are adults, I refrained from drinking alcohol out of respect for Haruki.
“I’m really happy, you know.”
“About what?”
“Ahaha, just being able to celebrate Christmas like this.”
“Yeah, Haruki was restless all day yesterday, wasn’t she?”
“Mom! You didn’t have to say that!”
I watched Haruki’s face flush bright red as I took a sip of my juice.
