- Chapter 88 - Watching my Ex-Girlfriend Play
“What is this?”
What on earth was going on?
I couldn’t wrap my head around it.
Ms. Oe’s children’s cafeteria was being featured on a television program.
That part wasn’t exactly hard to understand.
After all, children’s cafeterias have become a prominent part of recent volunteer movements.
Still—I never imagined that her cafeteria would have enough impact to make it on TV.
Seeing someone you know appear on television is rare, sure. But not impossible.
That was how I reasoned it out. It was within the realm of possibility.
“Kengorou, why?”
Even seeing Kengorou being interviewed wasn’t all that surprising.
He’s the leader of the volunteer group and has contributed heavily to the children’s cafeteria.
To the kids, he’s probably just as important as Ms. Oe and the other core members.
If anything, I was a bit surprised he agreed to be interviewed—he’s not really that type.
But I guess that can happen too. People change.
No, that’s not the issue.
The real problem is somewhere else entirely.
“Why, why is it you, Haruki?”
Why was Haruki—of all people—there at the children’s cafeteria?
And why were they being interviewed… as a couple?
It’s not like I didn’t know.
I knew they were dating. That they’d become a couple. I’d come to terms with that.
That’s not what I couldn’t understand.
What I couldn’t accept was this—this smug display of happiness.
This flaunting of their so-called bliss for the world to see.
“That was supposed to be mine.”
Because that space was mine.
Getting called a lovey-dovey couple and blushing from the praise.
Laughing beside him. Acting all shy and flustered.
Watching him with admiration when he got serious—that was all supposed to be mine.
The way Haruki leaned in close, his arm touching hers—that was my special place.
My front-row seat. My one and only.
So why… why is he standing there, with her?
“Ugh—ghk.”
I feel like I’m going to be sick.
And why the hell is Haruki just… naturally part of the volunteer group now?
She definitely wasn’t a member a month ago.
Don’t act like you’ve been here since the beginning.
Don’t pretend this is your place.
“It’s all being stolen from me.”
I thought I’d already lost everything.
But I was wrong.
Everything—every last thing—isn’t just disappearing.
It’s being torn away from me. Ravaged. Stolen.
By my own sister.
Kengorou… my parents… everything I worked so hard to build…
All of it—hers.
“Ah, ah. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!”
All I could do was scream.
