- Dumped by One, Chased by Another? My Ex's Sister Is a Gal and She's Coming for Me
- Chapter 74 - Back at Home After A Long Time
When I told my parents I’d be coming home, my mother replied almost immediately, giving her approval.
I’d also let them know I had something important to tell them—and that I wouldn’t be coming alone.
That felt like enough of a heads-up.
“I’m so nervous.”
“I don’t think you need to be that tense.”
“Mmm, but can you blame me? I mean, there’s no guarantee they’ll accept someone like me.”
“You really think so?”
Haruki anxiously toyed with her bangs.
As usual, she had her hair dyed a bright gold and wore vivid blue contact lenses. Her outfit was noticeably more subdued than what she normally wore, but her sense of self—her identity—hadn’t changed.
And I didn’t want her to change.
In fact, I had asked her not to.
The Haruki standing in front of me now—the one who saved me—I didn’t want her to be anyone else.
That was something I truly meant, from the bottom of my heart.
“It’ll be okay. I’m sure they’ll understand.”
“You really think so?”
“Yeah. I mean, you’re amazing.”
“Geez. Just because it’s the truth doesn’t mean you have to say it out loud every time.”
Haruki turned away, blushing, her gaze shifting shyly to the side.
Even as I admired that sweet, flustered expression, I couldn’t help but think about something more serious.
It might go without saying, but…
There was still a chance my parents wouldn’t accept her.
And if it came to that—well, I’d already made my choice.
Even without their approval, I would choose Haruki.
No matter what.
“I don’t see the problem.”
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
“Huh?”
“Eh?”
So, when both of them casually accepted our relationship without any pushback, I was completely caught off guard.
“Um, are you really okay with this? I mean, I’m still technically.”
“Ah, Kengorou already told us. You’re underage, right? He also mentioned you’ve got your parents’ consent.”
“Well, yeah, that’s true.”
“Then it’s fine. You’re both old enough to know what you’re doing. No reason for us to interfere.”
“Um, Kengorou-san…”
“Yeah, this is just how they are.”
I’d been so worried they might object—but I guess that worry was completely unnecessary.
My parents were level-headed people. As long as no laws were being broken and no moral lines crossed, they didn’t really object to anything.
They’d never once stood in the way of my choices—not with school, not with my future.
Maybe you could even call it laissez-faire parenting.
“Your parents… they’re not what I’d call normal, you know?”
“Wait, really?”
Now that she mentioned it, they were different from people like Setsuko-san too.
Maybe the “normal” I’d always believed in… wasn’t really normal at all.
Still, I wasn’t going to complain.
They hadn’t objected.
And that was enough for me.
