- Double Mother: The Miracle Woven by Haruka and Mana's Love
- Chapter 9 - Waltz of Midnight Anxiety and Hope
In the middle of the night, Haruka suddenly awoke. Moonlight streaming through the window gently illuminated the quiet bedroom. As she gazed at Mana’s sleeping face beside her, an emotion that made her chest ache welled up inside.
“Mana-chan, are you awake?”
Haruka called out in a small voice. Mana slowly opened her eyes, looking at Haruka with a still-sleepy expression.
“What’s wrong?”
“Somehow, I feel strange.”
Mana sat up and touched Haruka’s cheek. Her fingertips were so gentle that Haruka instinctively closed her eyes.
“Strange how?”
“Yeah… I suddenly became anxious. Can I really become a proper mother? Can I make our babies happy?”
Mana took Haruka’s hand and gently squeezed it. Mana’s profile, illuminated by the moonlight, looked more divine than usual.
“I was thinking the same thing. Last night, and the night before too.”
Mana’s voice trembled slightly. Haruka looked at Mana’s face in surprise. The usually composed Mana now had tears in her eyes.
“Mana-chan, are you crying?”
“I’m sorry. This has been happening a lot lately. The tears just come suddenly.”
Haruka instinctively embraced Mana. Their large bellies touched, and both smiled slightly at the sensation.
“Have we gone crazy? I’ve never had such intense emotional swings before…”
“Maybe this is also part of the process of becoming mothers.”
As she said this, Mana gently stroked Haruka’s long hair. The gesture made Haruka feel reassured.
“Hey, your hair smells nice…”
Haruka buried her face in Mana’s neck and deeply inhaled her scent. The sweet fragrance of shampoo mixed with Mana’s natural soft scent, calming her heart.
“Hey, that tickles… but I’m happy.”
Mana’s cheeks flushed a pale pink. Her expression was so adorable that Haruka couldn’t help but kiss her.
“Mana-chan, you’re cute!”
“You’re the cute one. You look especially beautiful today.”
While gazing at Haruka’s figure illuminated by the moonlight, Mana smiled softly.
“Hey, I’ve been having a lot of dreams lately.”
“What kind of dreams?”
“Hmm, dreams like playing with our babies in the park, or all of us eating lunch together.”
While watching Mana talk happily, Haruka noticed a new emotion budding within herself. It was a deep affection she had never felt before, a mixture of anxiety and expectation.
“I have those dreams too. It’s strange, isn’t it? That we can care so much about babies we haven’t even met yet.”
Haruka nodded strongly at Mana’s words. They both placed their hands on each other’s bellies, feeling the pulse of life within.
“I’m scared but I’m also really happy.”
“Yeah, I understand. I feel the same.”
Leaning against each other, they looked out the window. The eastern sky was gradually beginning to brighten. It seemed like the new morning would bring new feelings with it.
“Shall we sleep again?”
“Yeah, but I want to stay like this a little longer.”
Haruka rested her head on Mana’s shoulder, enveloped in her warmth as she slowly closed her eyes. Both the anxiety and the expectation felt precious. Maybe this is what it means to become a mother. Holding such thoughts in their hearts, the two were about to welcome the quiet dawn.
