Doctor Gu’s Orange Cat Boyfriend - Chapter 5
Jealous little thing?
Lin Xiaomiao’s cat ears instantly perked up, and the smug expression on her face froze.
【H-how… how did he know?!】
【Is my jealousy really that obvious?】
Lin Xiaomiao’s tiny feline brain was filled with ???
The elation he’d felt moments ago from chasing away his rival was now replaced by panic.
Gu Chaoyu watched the stunned orange fluffball in the cat carrier, the smile on his lips growing wider. Of course, he wouldn’t admit he’d read it in his mind. Instead, he continued to tease him in that deep, amused voice, speaking slowly and deliberately.
“Why aren’t you meowing anymore?”
“You were pretty fierce with that woman in the store just now, weren’t you?”
“Now you’re embarrassed?”
【Who… who’s embarrassed! I wasn’t being fierce, I was arguing my point! It was to defend the dignity of scientifically raising cats!】
Lin Xiaomiao raged in protest inside his head, but his body was honest. Silently, he tucked his head back, presenting his rear to Gu Chaoyu in an ostrich-like pose that screamed, “I can’t hear you.”
So humiliating!
His little thoughts had been read completely by Gu Chaoyu!
He wouldn’t think he was a petty, jealous little cat, would he?
Lin Xiaomiao sank into deep self-doubt and frustration.
Seeing the cat genuinely bristle, Gu Chaoyu stopped teasing him and focused on driving. The car fell silent, broken only by Xiaomiao’s occasional, faint “meow” which was a sound born of guilt.
Soon, the car entered their residential complex and pulled into the parking lot below their building.
Gu Chaoyu turned off the engine, first carrying the cat carrier with Lin Xiaomiao out of the car. Only then did he open the trunk and unload the large pile of items purchased that day.
Cat food, litterbox, scratching posts, a smart water dispenser, bowls, and a pile of toys… The assortment nearly filled both his hands.
From the mesh of her carrier, Lin Xiaomiao watched Gu Chaoyu’s tall silhouette, her eyes sparkling with pink stars.
【He really… is so dedicated.】
【He only found me a day ago, yet he’s willing to prepare so much for me.】
【This must be what they call the “contrast effect” online. He seems so cool and aloof on the surface, but his heart is so warm.】
【Love it, love it! My eye for men is spot-on—I saw right through his exterior to his fiery heart!】
【God-tier guy conquest progress +1】
Gu Chaoyu, who heard every word: Another successful day winning over the wife! Nice!
Gu Chaoyu carried the items and stepped into the elevator.
The doors closed, leaving only him and his “cat” in the confined space.
Lin Xiaomiao watched the slight tension in his arms straining under the weight, unable to suppress a soft “gulp” as he swallowed.
【I want to be held like that… Not stuffed in a bag, but cradled directly in his arms.】
A “ding” sounded as the elevator reached its floor.
Gu Chaoyu first unlocked his own door, setting all the bags and packages in the entryway before placing the cat carrier on the soft carpet and unzipping it.
“Come out, Orange. We’re home.”
Lin Xiaomiao leaped out lightly, curiously surveying this “new home” she was stepping into for the second time.
This home was completely different in style from her own little nest. Gu Chaoyu’s place was minimalist modern.
But now, with the addition of these cat supplies, the slightly cool and austere home gained a touch of warmth and liveliness.
Gu Chaoyu began unpacking the items.
First, he placed the corrugated cardboard scratching post in the living room corner. It was simple in design yet sturdy in construction. Then he took the high-tech-looking smart water dispenser to the kitchen to rinse it.
Lin Xiaomiao followed closely behind, padding along on her stubby little legs.
She watched as Gu Chaoyu rolled up his sleeves, revealing his toned forearms, and meticulously cleaned every part of the water dispenser under the faucet. Those hands, skilled at healing and saving lives, were now washing dishes for her, this “little trickster.” His movements were precise and unwavering, strangely sexy.
Lin Mucí’s face began to flush again.
He couldn’t resist moving closer, gently rubbing his fluffy cheek against Gu Chaoyu’s pant leg.
Gu Chaoyu’s movements paused.
He looked down to see the chubby orange kitten affectionately nuzzling him.
Simultaneously, a lovesick inner voice echoed in his mind.
【Hehe, rubbed it! Rubbed it!】
【His pants even carry the fresh scent of soap & nuts. So clean and crisp, so good…】
Gu Chaoyu’s heart instantly melted into mush.
He turned off the water, dried his hands, bent down, and scooped up the clingy little cat, gently pressing his forehead against the kitten’s head.
“So clingy?” His voice carried a tenderness he hadn’t even noticed himself.
Lin Xiaomiao, cradled in his arms, was so happy the whole cat was practically bubbling over. He gently pressed his little paw pads against Gu Chaoyu’s solid chest, purring incessantly.
【Yes, yes, just clingy to you!】
【I love being held by you. Your embrace is so warm, and I can hear your heartbeat so clearly…】
Just as Lin Xiaomiao was lost in this sweet moment, Gu Chaoyu’s next words froze him solid.
“Oh, right. I just told that woman my neighbor is a writer who knows a lot about cat care.”
Gu Chaoyu spoke leisurely as he carried him toward the living room.
“I happen to have some questions for him, like how much of this cat food to feed, and where the litter box should be placed.”
“I’ll go ask him right now.”
With that, he carried Lin Xiaomiao straight to his front door.
Lin Xiaomiao’s brain instantly froze.
【Wait… wait! What did he just say?!】
【He’s going to find his writer neighbor? That’s me?!】
【But I’m in his arms right now! I’m a cat!】
【Oh no, oh no, oh no! This is going to blow my cover!】
【How could I possibly be in two places at once?!】
【If Gu Chaoyu knocks on the door now and no one answers, then calls my phone only to hear it ringing inside the house… and then considers this cat that suddenly appeared, seems to understand human emotions, and even gets jealous… could he figure something out?】
