Doctor Gu’s Orange Cat Boyfriend - Chapter 30
“Aaaaaah!”
Su Wanqing shot up from her chair, frantically covering her mouth to stifle a scream that threatened to pierce the sky. Her eyes blazed as she grabbed Zhou Yang’s arm beside her, shaking him violently, her excitement nearly overwhelming her.
【Holy crap! What did I just see?! They wrote each other’s names! This is a confession! What kind of divine love is this?! Officially confirmed, mutual feelings locked in! Am I dreaming?! Day and night together is real! It’s real!!!】
Zhou Yang was shaken to the core, trying to pull his arm away with a look of disgust, but to no avail.
“Looks like our first pair is truly in sync!” The host, startled by this dramatic turn, quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Now, let’s reveal the answers from the second pair.”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Zhou Yang and Su Wanqing’s answers were displayed.
Zhou Yang’s answer board read:
【My ideal type: A beautiful, career-driven, strong woman who can fight alongside me.】
【Her ideal type: Someone who’s tough on the outside but soft on the inside, who can keep her in line yet still listen to her.】
Su Wanqing’s answer board read:
[My ideal type: Tough on the outside, soft on the inside, romantic, and listens to me.]
[His ideal type: Mature, beautiful, and career-driven.]
The two exchanged glances at each other’s answers, then simultaneously glanced at the other. Finally, they both let out a dismissive “Pfft!” Yet their slightly flushed ears betrayed their inner turmoil.
“Wow, Group Two’s chemistry is pretty strong too!!”
“…Group Three…Group Four…”
“Alright, let’s continue! Question two: What’s your partner’s favorite movie genre?”
This question was practically a free point for Lin Mucí.
[Thrilling suspense films!] He wrote it down without a second thought. During his month-long stint as a cat, he’d watched nearly every suspense film library alongside Gu Chaoyu.
Gu Chaoyu, equally confident, wrote: Healing animated films.
The answers were revealed and it was another perfect match!
Beside them, Su Wanqing was already excitedly pulling out her phone, activating the video function, ready to fully capture this historic moment. She was excited to edit it into eight hundred episodes of highlights to savor later!
“Question three! What is the other person’s most hated food?”
Lin Mucí wrote without hesitation: “Cilantro.”
He had witnessed firsthand how Gu Chaoyu meticulously picked out every tiny sprig of cilantro from his soup with spoon and chopsticks. It was a scene that rivaled surgical precision.
Gu Chaoyu wrote: “Bitter melon.”
He remembered vividly the last time they ate with Su Wanqing. When Lin Mucí accidentally picked up a piece of bitter melon, his brow instantly furrowed the moment it touched his lips, his entire face scrunching up.
The same answer again!
The audience below the stage began whispering, marveling at this pair’s uncanny level of synchronicity.
“Holy cow, are these two brothers?”
“Brothers? Did you see their ideal partner descriptions? This is clearly true love!”
“Too sweet, way too sweet! Tonight’s sugar levels are off the charts!”
Amidst the buzz, the host posed the fourth question.
“Question Four: What’s an undisclosed quirk about your partner?”
Lin Mucí flinched.
【Weird quirks?】
【I know way too many of Gu Chaoyu’s quirks!】
【Like how he talks to his orange cat at home, saying all these cheesy things.】
【Like how he walks around in his underwear wrapped in a towel after showering.】
【Like how he must arrange his slippers perfectly before bed, toes pointing outward.】
Unfortunately, none of these could be written down! Revealing any one of them would be like telling Gu Chaoyu: I installed surveillance in your house!
Lin Mucí’s mind raced, then a flash of inspiration struck. He found a safe, plausible answer. Picking up his pen, he wrote in the “Quirks” section for the other person: “When organizing books, he arranges them by color and height, not by category.”
For his own quirks, he wrote: “When lacking inspiration while writing, unconsciously nibbles on fingers.”
As he wrote, he thought: [This should definitely throw Dr. Gu off!!]
Gu Chaoyu paused for a moment, seemingly recalling something carefully.
Then, he wrote down Lin Mucí’s quirk: “When writing, sometimes unconsciously nibbles on fingers.”
When both answers were revealed, Lin Mucí froze in shock.
This habit… even he wasn’t always aware of it! Su Wanqing had teased him about it several times, but he’d always slipped back into it unconsciously.
How did Gu Chaoyu know?!
【How could he know?! When did he see it? Could it be… Could he have been secretly observing me all along?! Without me knowing?】
【Oh my god, could it be that Dr. Gu really likes me?!!】
【I’m not dreaming, am I?!】
【No, tonight I absolutely must ask Gu Chaoyu what his true feelings toward me are.】
【If I don’t get a clear answer, how am I supposed to sleep through this long night?!】
Lin Mucí lifted his head and stared straight at Gu Chaoyu, only to find the other man staring right back. Embarrassed, he quickly lowered his gaze, pretending to look at his own toes, but the flush on his face refused to fade.
For the next few questions, their perfect harmony continued.
From favorite season to dream travel destination to preferred music genre… every answer was spot on.
Finally, after ten questions, the host excitedly announced the results: “Congratulations to Mr. Lin and Dr. Gu! With perfect scores in the first round, they take the lead with one point! This is simply incredible harmony!“
A wave of enthusiastic applause swept through the venue.
”Meanwhile, our contestants Mr. Zhou and Ms. Su also achieved an outstanding score of ninety points!“ The host turned to Zhou Yang and Su Wanqing. ”They only disagreed on the final question—what a pity! Let’s see which question they missed: ‘What is the one thing your partner most regrets?’”
The large screen displayed both contestants’ answers.
On Su Wanqing’s answer board, the response she wrote for Zhou Yang read: “Not trusting her more back then.”
On Zhou Yang’s answer board, the response he wrote for himself stated: “Not being the first to apologize during that argument.”
Su Wanqing and Zhou Yang’s answers sparked murmurs throughout the audience. Everyone seemed to detect a hint of gossip in these brief responses.
“Alright, alright!” The host stepped forward to regain control. “Though there’s a slight disappointment, Mr. Zhou and Ms. Su’s chemistry is undeniable! Let’s give them another round of applause!”
After the applause died down, the host gave a mysterious smile.
“The first round was merely an appetizer. Now, the second challenge “Your Scent” is about to begin!”
“The rules are simple: each contestant must be blindfolded. Using only their sense of smell, they must identify their partner among the remaining seven participants! Both partners must correctly identify each other in the group to earn two points!”
