Distance Formula - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
It was almost six o’clock when Bai Biqing and Su Shang arrived in Shenhai City. Su Shang had pre-booked a car, and they went straight to the hotel.
On the way, she poked Bai Biqing, asking mysteriously, “Why aren’t you asking me why I booked this hotel?”
Bai Biqing didn’t even lift her head. “Because Su Yanshi is here.”
Su Shang had many contacts, so it was easy for her to find out what film Su Yanshi was shooting and where. Her childhood friend’s thoughts were as transparent as glass in her eyes.
Su Shang complained a few words discontentedly, which Bai Biqing smoothly deflected.
“Talk less, so you have the energy to eat later.”
Su Shang: “…”
Bai Biqing had the majority of the luggage, and sorting it took some time. The restaurant they chose was a highly rated one selected at random. Due to the high flow of people, there were no private rooms, only individual tables.
They picked a spot near the edge, ordered a few signature dishes, and quite a bit of wine.
Bai Biqing didn’t like drinking, but Su Shang was an enthusiast. Before all the dishes were served, she had already started drinking. The hall was crowded and noisy. When the Omega was drunk, she tended to speak without restraint, and as she talked, she almost burst into tears, condemning her cheating ex-boyfriend with every painful word.
“You don’t know how much I loved him!” Su Shang huddled next to Bai Biqing, repeatedly knocking her head against Bai Biqing’s shoulder, tears streaming down her face.
Bai Biqing had long been accustomed to this, calmly eating while occasionally murmuring “Mhm” and pulling out a tissue for Su Shang. “There, there. If this one isn’t good, we’ll find the next one. Does our little Omega Su lack suitors?”
At this, Su Shang immediately raised her head, looked up at her with tear-filled eyes, and asked with a mixture of grievance and expectation, “Then do you love me?”
“I love you—” Bai Biqing straightened her and took the wine bottle from her hand, firmly rubbing her face. “You’re my family. If I don’t love you, who will?”
Su Shang nodded blankly, instantly feeling overjoyed, and made a firm decision. “Don’t worry, the matter with you and Su Yanshi is on me!”
Bai Biqing: “…”
She looked at her “lovingly.” “Thank you. Don’t mention it next time.”
Su Shang whined and clung to her again. Bai Biqing had a rather difficult time finishing her meal. Just as they were about to pay the bill, the Omega suddenly whispered a request: “I need to go to the bathroom.”
Bai Biqing: “…”
She had no choice but to lift her up, carrying her almost entirely with her own strength toward the restroom. Su Shang’s consciousness was still hazy. Her eyes darted around, and suddenly she saw a familiar figure through a gap in a private room door. She muttered softly, “Su Yanshi.”
“What?” Bai Biqing didn’t hear clearly, but Su Shang stopped talking, only insisting on going to the restroom.
By the time she had finished serving this “lord,” Bai Biqing was covered in sweat. She helplessly helped the person up, accepting her fate. “I owe you.”
She repeated the familiar movement, skillfully leading the person out step by step. However, she didn’t expect Su Shang, who had been limp like mud, to suddenly break free from her control as they passed a certain spot. She swayed and reached to open the door, shouting, “I saw her.”
“What are you doing!” Bai Biqing quickly stepped forward. Just as she pulled her back, the private room door directly opposite them suddenly opened. Their eyes met. It was Su Yanshi, who had messaged her not long ago. She hadn’t expected such a coincidence; she thought it would be later.
Perhaps for the sake of the role, her hair was dyed completely black, making her look much more gentle. Her startled expression at the moment made her look even softer. She was stunned. “Teacher Bai, why are you here? And this is…”
Su Shang didn’t wait for her to finish speaking. She abruptly raised her head, looked at Su Yanshi seriously, and said, “I’ve seen you before.”
Su Yanshi was surprised. “…Teacher Su.”
The Omega giggled twice, then suddenly became serious, lowering her voice. “I’m telling you, I actually came specifically…”
Bai Biqing quickly covered her mouth, preventing her from saying anything revealing. Her movements were practiced, and her face showed no superfluous emotion as she simply looked down at Su Yanshi.
“I’m here for a trip, to adjust my mood. Su Shang and I are childhood friends. She’s drunk. I need to take her back soon.”
Su Yanshi said, “Oh.” She looked back. “Do you need help? I’m almost done here. Which hotel are you staying at?”
This was a dinner among a few actors before filming started; they were all familiar with each other, so Su Yanshi could spare the time.
Bai Biqing lowered her eyes and gave a hotel name.
She successfully heard Su Yanshi exclaim in surprise, “What a coincidence.”
How could it not be a coincidence? I knew it beforehand.
“Then…” Su Yanshi asked cautiously, “Do you need me?”
Bai Biqing raised her head, immediately seizing the opportunity. Her previously softened expression now turned gentle again, and she gave a clear response:
“Yes, I do.”
“Walk me back.”
Walk with me, let’s become a little more familiar.
Bai Biqing subtly hid the emotion in her eyes. She moved back a little, giving Su Yanshi space. “What do you think?”
Su Yanshi’s hands were behind her back, inexplicably intertwined. She had felt restless ever since she parted with Bai Biqing and was quite happy to find that the Beta had also come.
She agreed readily. “Of course, but there’s a difference between Alpha and Omega. I’ll try not to touch Teacher Su; you’ll have to do most of the heavy lifting yourself.”
Bai Biqing smiled. “It’s no trouble.”
