Distance Formula - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Jiang Yin loves taking photos of landscapes. She and her friends have a fierce obsession with nature, so much so that after four or five hours, they still haven’t taken many satisfying pictures.
She never felt tired; youth is always full of hope and vitality. At this moment, Jiang Yin was smugly showing off to the others: “How about this! Isn’t my composition amazing?”
The others crowded around, praising her genuinely: “I won’t believe it if you’re not a master someday.”
“Only you could do this. Scatter flowers for you.”
“Jiang Yin! You are my—”
Jiang Yin kicked the person away in disgust. “Get lost. Watch less videos and read more books. Look at me, full of poetry and literature.”
“Stop boasting, I’m embarrassed for you.”
“Jiang ‘Shameless’! We’re still watching you.”
“Hmph.” Jiang Yin happily scrolled through the photos. “Take a picture of me. We’ll wrap up for today after this.”
“Sure,” the others chimed in, directing her to a spot.
Jiang Yin cooperated fully and backed up. Mid-step, someone suddenly asked, “What’s going on with you and that Bai-something? Are you really trying to pursue her?”
“Bai Yunyan,” Jiang Yin slowed her steps, her eyes suddenly bright. She said loudly, “Of course! My heart fluttered the moment I saw her. No matter what, for my future happiness, everyone lend me a hand!”
After speaking, she turned and started to jog, getting ready to turn back at the designated spot. Just as a smile emerged, the next second her foot slipped, and she uncontrollably lunged forward. In the panic, she immediately shielded the camera in her arms, resignedly closing her eyes.
The group erupted in noise, helping her up clumsily. The first thing Jiang Yin did after sitting up was nervously check the camera. “Oh my god, please don’t be broken.”
She was laboriously helped up. Both her knees were scraped, blood continuously flowing down, a glaring streak of blood tracing her ankle.
“Go treat your wounds first,” someone said with concern.
“No need, no need.” Jiang Yin didn’t seem to mind at all. She smiled. “Rinsing it with water will be fine. Looks like we can’t take pictures today. Let’s head back.”
Bai Yunyan had just finished eating and was about to head back to her room when she saw a noisy group walk in, with Jiang Yin naturally at the center.
She frowned slightly, intending to walk quickly away, but Jiang Yin keenly spotted her and shouted happily, “Bai Yunyan!”
Bai Yunyan stopped, watching her with a slightly cold expression.
The others exchanged glances, found some excuse, and left. Jiang Yin smiled when she saw her, limping toward her. “Have you eaten?”
“I have.”
“What a coincidence. I haven’t. We must have great fate.”
Bai Yunyan’s gaze followed her legs. She immediately saw the poorly treated wounds. She said nothing, quickly looking away.
Jiang Yin didn’t notice. She found a place to sit, looking up at Bai Yunyan. “How about we exchange contact information?”
“No.”
“Tsk.” Jiang Yin let out a displeased sigh. She changed the subject. “Then, do you have any medicine for sprains? Look!”
She straightened her leg, feigning grievance as she sighed. “It hurts so bad.”
Bai Yunyan: “…”
She took a deep breath, turned, borrowed medicine from the homestay owner, and tossed it to Jiang Yin. “Here.”
She was about to leave, but was called back. “Wait!”
Jiang Yin gave her an embarrassed smile. “Is there a specific order for these? I’m not very good at it.”
She had many ointments and antiseptics in her hand. She rarely got hurt and genuinely didn’t know what to do.
“You call—” Bai Yunyan’s words were cut off as she met Jiang Yin’s expectant gaze. Her breathing slowed for a few beats. She stopped in place for a few seconds before walking over. “Give it to me.”
She squatted in front of Jiang Yin and expertly treated the wounds.
Jiang Yin watched her, sucking in air with pain, suddenly growing bold. “What is your profession?”
“Painting,” Bai Yunyan replied coolly.
Jiang Yin was briefly amazed, feeling the two of them were even more compatible. She continued to ask, “Then, can I see your paintings?”
Bai Yunyan’s hand movements paused. She slowly looked up, her gaze cold and silent as she stared at Jiang Yin.
“Cut!”
Director Liu laughed with satisfaction. “Excellent! That’s a wrap for today. Thank you for your hard work, everyone. Head back soon.”
There weren’t many scenes today, but it took a long time to get the shot. Jiang Yin’s wound scene only passed because Hu Liyang continued the performance without an NG after the fall. The accident made the subsequent plot connection smoother. The editor revised continuously, and the two worked until past 1 a.m. before wrapping up.
Hu Liyang stood up, inhaling sharply from the pain. “Finally passed.”
She turned and smiled ambiguously at Su Yanshi. “Not bad. Teacher Bai has been waiting for you.”
Su Yanshi knew she misunderstood. Just as she was about to open her mouth to explain, she was interrupted. “I know, I know everything.”
Hu Liyang was supported by her assistant, giving Su Yanshi a meaningful look. “Go for it.”
Su Yanshi walked toward Bai Biqing helplessly. “Sorry for making you wait so long.”
Bai Biqing handed her a water cup. “Am I not your assistant? It’s what I should do. You’re the one who worked hard.”
She watched the two continuously seek the right state, finally crafting this take. Once Su Yanshi relaxed, she couldn’t stop yawning.
“Let’s go back to the hotel and sleep. Don’t you have a scene early in the morning?”
Su Yanshi nodded languidly. “Yes, I’m so sleepy.”
Bai Biqing chuckled and rushed the sleepy person back to the hotel.
It was nearly 2 a.m.
Su Yanshi was halfway inside the room. She poked her head out and whispered, “Teacher Bai, good night.”
Bai Biqing waved at her. “Good night. Sleep early.”
“Okay—”
Su Yanshi closed the door, vaguely went to find clothes, and entered the bathroom. It wasn’t until she tried to turn on the water for a long time that she realized something was wrong. She froze in place instantly.
No way, the water heater is broken!
