Destined to be a Beta, Remembered as the First Love

Chu Li is a lowly Beta with no pheromones, yet his fiancé is the Empire’s only 3S-level Alpha, Lu Jin. Because of this, Chu Li has become a thorn in the side of every marriageable Omega and Beta in the galaxy. To diminish their hostility and pursue his own dreams, Chu Li joins a mecha training camp to become a junior mecha mechanic.

During his first mission, Chu Li struggles across the battlefield in a mecha with a broken leg. Meanwhile, Lu Jin stands on a spaceship, looking down at Chu Li with an expressionless, cold gaze. Standing beside Lu Jin is the equally rare 3S-level Omega Lieutenant, Song Xu.

One day, Chu Li feels as though he is undergoing a secondary differentiation. He calls Lu Jin, but Lu Jin coldly hangs up. Forced to buy medicine alone, Chu Li takes the wrong dosage by mistake. His body becomes covered in eerie red scars, and he is rushed to the hospital due to heavy hemorrhaging. His gestational chamber undergoes a mutation, leaving him permanently unable to conceive children.

Upon learning of the situation, the Lu family immediately negotiates the cancellation of the engagement. Fearing Chu Li might cling to Lu Jin, they compensate him with a massive sum of money and a small planet.

Due to his failing health, Chu Li is no longer fit to pilot mechas. On the day of his retirement, the military academy is suddenly attacked by the Zerg. Chu Li and several mecha mechanics are ordered to fight a path to safety. During the evacuation, Chu Li’s mecha malfunctions and falls into the ruins, where he is gradually surrounded and consumed by the Zerg.

In his final moments, Chu Li sees Lu Jin taking Song Xu away on the spaceship, receding into the distance.

“General, Lieutenant Song is severely injured. We must evacuate immediately.” “Who else is left at the base?” “Only one junior mecha mechanic.”

Lu Jin glances at the mecha being buried by the Zerg. After weighing the situation, he orders the withdrawal.

“What was that junior mechanic’s name?” “I believe it was Chu Li.” “What did you say, the name was?”

“Chu… Li…”

Eight months later, Lu Jin represents the Empire in negotiations with Planet Astar. On the throne, surrounded by a swarm of exotic beasts, the King of Astar slowly raises his head toward Lu Jin, revealing a smile that is both familiar and chillingly strange.

“Long time no see, General Lu.”

Lu Jin completely loses control.
