Dating My Drama Queen Girlfriend On A Slow-Paced Variety Show - Chapter 20
The recording for Li Yue was scheduled for two days and one night, she was set to leave Xiangwan Village at six o’clock tomorrow evening. Even though she had played her guitar and sang “Late Home” and her latest single after dinner, today’s schedule wasn’t over yet.
When everyone gathered in the living room, Luo Mingzi stole a glance at Li Yue. Beside them, Wu Xuezhen happened to ask, “Xiao Yue, are you tired?”
“Not tired,” Li Yue smiled, finding a spot on the sofa to sit down. Seeing this, Luo Mingzi quickly dragged her beanbag chair over to sit right next to her. You Yang entered carrying a platter of sliced watermelon, set it on the table, and rubbed his hands together. “What should we play?”
Everyone had a bit to drink during dinner and had shared many stories, their relationships seemed much more harmonious than before. Pi Dajun reclined halfway, looked at the watermelon, and couldn’t help but remark, “Still eating?”
He paused after asking, then blurted out, “I never thought I’d see the day where I’d say that on the set of Late Home!”
Everyone burst into laughter. You Yang looked back at the director sitting off camera and teased, “Sister Liu, did you hear? This is an indictment! A cry from the masses!”
“Listen to them!”
The camera intentionally panned to Director Liu. She raised her hat to cover her face, her cheeks flushing red with laughter though it might have also been from the alcohol she shared during the meal.
While the others were chatting away, Luo Mingzi leaned her head toward Li Yue’s shoulder and whispered, “Are you really not tired?”
“I’m not.” Li Yue turned her head to look at Luo Mingzi and asked, “Are you full?”
Luo Mingzi patted her little belly with satisfaction.
Li Yue gave a light chuckle and couldn’t resist reaching out to give Luo Mingzi’s stomach a little squeeze. Startled, Luo Mingzi covered her face and said in a mock-frail voice, “You have to take responsibility if you touch me, you know.”
Her voice was very low, accompanied by a humming giggle. Li Yue playfully patted her stomach like she was testing a ripe watermelon, then picked up a wedge of watermelon from the table. Right in front of Luo Mingzi, she bit off the tip of the fruit.
She lowered her head, a flash of her pink tongue sweeping away the bright red flesh. When she looked up, her eyes swept over Luo Mingzi as she leaned back into the sofa with a smirk.
Luo Mingzi: “…” She gripped her clothes, suddenly stood up, grabbed a towel that had been tossed onto the sofa to cover her head, and bent over to grab her water glass for a drink.
Her movements were so hurried that they startled Wu Xuezhen, who quickly warned, “Careful now.”
Luo Mingzi gulped down the water, her cheeks bulging as she nodded “mm-hmm,” while secretly glaring at Li Yue, who sat nearby with a silent, knowing smile.
Humph.
Since everyone had spent the day climbing mountains and repairing roads, they truly didn’t have the energy for high-intensity games. You Yang suggested watching a movie, but Luo Mingzi vetoed it.
“How about cards?” Luo Mingzi suggested with a smile. “Or a board game, like Monopoly?”
“Cards are fine, but Sister Xuezhen and I can’t handle Monopoly or those kinds of board games,” Pi Dajun said, waving his hands in refusal. Seeing that they were actually going to play poker, Li Yue suddenly spoke up, “I don’t know how to play cards. I’ll just watch you guys play.”
“Don’t be like, it’s more fun with more people,” Wu Xuezhen urged.
Li Yue shook her head and smiled. “I really don’t play.”
Luo Mingzi pursed her lips, smiling but saying nothing.
Because Li Yue opted out, the four of them switched to Mahjong. A Mahjong machine sat in the corner of the living room. While the four guests were setting up their game, Li Yue went upstairs to find the phone she hadn’t touched all day.
The moment she pushed open the bedroom door, a faint fragrance brushed against her nose.
Li Yue turned on the light.
In the guest room, the bed that originally had only one quilt now featured an additional small pink floral quilt. You could see the effort put into it, it was folded reasonably neatly and tucked right next to the guest’s perfectly tidy bedding.
On the headboard sat two pillows, one white and one pink along with several plush dolls that hadn’t been in Li Yue’s luggage. A projector had been placed by the bed, its lens pointed at the white wall, waiting for someone to turn it on.
Furthermore, on the long bed-table, there was a bottle of flowers. They weren’t exquisitely trimmed or arranged, but rather a collection of wild blossoms gathered from the mountainside, plucked secretly at some point.
Li Yue paused. She stepped into the transformed room toward the bed and picked up her phone, which was lying face down on the nightstand.
She unlocked it with her fingerprint, and a memo immediately appeared on the screen, a pink background adorned with puppy stickers.
[Li Yue, let’s sleep together tonight!]
