Chapter 11: The Second Day of Maintaining the Villain Persona~
The production crew had announced yesterday that the guests would be attending a large country fair today, starting the livestream before 5:00 AM. Consequently, for any local fans paying attention, tracking them down wasn’t difficult.
Thanks to the fans, most of the agricultural products and skincare cosmetics were quickly sold out. As Wen Qingyun had anticipated, sales successfully broke into the five-figure range.
“Wen Qingyun! I will support you forever and ever! You have to stay in the entertainment industry!” a fan shouted loudly after taking a photo. After attracting plenty of attention, she even boldly blew a kiss toward Wen Qingyun.
Just as the fans were happily preparing to leave, an unexpected incident occurred.
“Wen Qingyun! We’re your fans too! Why don’t you want male fans?!”
“I’ve liked you for years! How can you abandon us!”
“We didn’t do anything wrong, why don’t you want us!”
Three men, reeking of alcohol, began shouting as they pushed through the crowd toward Wen Qingyun.
A fan who had been happy just a second ago was caught in the crossfire; she was shoved without warning. If Chu Ke hadn’t reached out to steady her, the fan likely would have fallen face-first onto a wooden crate.
The three men appeared so abruptly that the cameraman, who had already fixed his shooting angle, failed to react in time. He watched with wide eyes as they rushed toward Wen Qingyun.
“Watch out!” Chu Ke shouted a warning.
In the next moment, Chu Ke saw Wen Qingyun decisively grab a wooden stick that had been placed at her feet at some unknown point. Without blinking, she swung it, hitting the first man squarely in the head.
“Ah—!”
The first man cried out in pain. Upon discovering his skin was broken and bleeding, his feigned anger and dissatisfaction instantly turned genuine. He glared at Wen Qingyun with fury.
“You dare hit me! Who do you think you are?!” Ignoring his bleeding forehead, the man clenched his fist and swung at Wen Qingyun.
“Don’t come near me! Or I’ll continue to act in self-defense!” Wen Qingyun took a large step back. Ensuring the camera could capture her full body, she put on an expression of extreme terror.
Some people seem to have bullying etched into their very bones. Seeing Wen Qingyun’s fearful expression, the man’s head—which had been three parts muddled—instantly became seven parts drunk with power.
Reason was eroded by the low-percentage alcohol; his feigned fanatical expression turned into a snarl as he reached out to grab her.
“We want justice! Why don’t you treat us like fans?!”
“Even if we get physical, so what? You can’t escape!”
Hearing the truth come out after the alcohol, a glint flashed in Wen Qingyun’s eyes. She swung the stick again with precision.
After hitting the target accurately, Wen Qingyun unhesitatingly dropped the stick. Looking like she was overcome with shock, she ran toward a less crowded area in the back.
Running? Then we’ll chase!
The three intoxicated men forced their way past the cameraman and Chu Ke, who tried to intercept them, and bolted after Wen Qingyun.
“Wen Qingyun!” Chu Ke’s face went white with fear. Regardless of the consequences, he chased after them.
Thump—
The three men were suddenly tripped. They rolled across the ground face-first before being pinned down by four security guards in uniform.
It wasn’t until their faces were pressed against the hot ground that their heated emotions began to cool. They remembered they weren’t here to bully a lone woman, but to “act” as crazed fans.
“Wen Qingyun! Do you really not need male fans?! I’d do anything for you! Just look at me once!”
“I’ve liked you for five years! I’ve watched all your dramas, why do you hate us?!”
Realizing things had spiraled out of control, the men pinned to the ground began to wail. Their voices sounded remarkably sincere; a passerby who didn’t know the context might have actually thought they were the victims.
“Wen Qingyun, are you okay?” Chu Ke ignored everyone else and ran straight to her.
Seeing the cameraman approaching with the camera alongside police officers, Wen Qingyun clutched her chest, still looking deeply shaken.
“I… I don’t know what they wanted. They aren’t my fans! They rushed over because they wanted to hurt me!” Wen Qingyun’s footsteps became unsteady as she spoke.
Glimping Chu Ke reaching out from the corner of her eye, Wen Qingyun took the opportunity to fall into him. Leaning against him, she instantly transformed into a fragile, broken, and helpless victim.
Chu Ke’s vision and sense of smell were instantly occupied by Wen Qingyun. The heat from their touching skin was impossible to ignore. This left Chu Ke standing frozen like a wooden post, not knowing what to do or say.
“Stay down, all of you! Don’t move!” shouted a police officer who had arrived to maintain order. They quickly took over from the four security guards, pinning the three men down.
With over a million people watching the livestream, the scale was significant. The relevant departments had long ago arranged for police to patrol the vicinity. However, because the first hour had gone smoothly, the police had let their guard down, giving the three men their opening.
“We aren’t bad people! We’re Wen Qingyun’s fans! We just wanted to ask her a few questions!”
“Wen Qingyun! Are you just going to watch your devoted fans be pinned to the ground?! Do you have a heart? How can you ignore your own fans?!”
The men on the ground were still restless. Upon feeling the cold metal of handcuffs locking around their wrists, their struggling intensified.
【Holy crap, what kind of extreme fans are these? Being liked by people like this is a nightmare!】
【Fans act, idols pay the price. Doesn’t Wen Qingyun hate men? This is what she gets!】
【If you don’t want male fans, don’t be surprised when they come for you! This is karma!】
Among the livestream viewers, there was no shortage of people like those three men. They didn’t sympathize with Wen Qingyun at all, instead mocking her for “reaping what she sowed” and suggesting she should immediately kneel and apologize for her previous remarks.
“Officer, they aren’t my fans. They tried to harm me in broad daylight! How could a normal fan chase me so fiercely, looking like they wanted to kill me?”
Wen Qingyun remained leaning in Chu Ke’s arms. Her eyes had turned red at some point, and tears welled in her beautiful peach-blossom eyes, looking as though she might break into a beautiful weep at any moment.
Humans are visual creatures. Compared to the three men with their contorted, vicious faces on the ground, the pale and sobbing Wen Qingyun was much easier to trust, causing people to subconsciously side with her.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Wen. Regardless of who they claim to be, it doesn’t change the criminal nature of their actions. We will handle this according to the law,” said the only female officer present, her eyes overflowing with sympathy.
There was little doubt that if Wen Qingyun weren’t currently in Chu Ke’s arms, this female officer wouldn’t have minded offering her own shoulder to comfort the terrified star.
“Officer, can I ask them a few questions?” Wen Qingyun sniffled and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, forcing back some of her tears.
“Of course you can.” The female officer’s pity grew more apparent as she immediately pulled out a tissue and handed it over.
“Thank you.” Wen Qingyun took it slowly, pressing the tissue against her eyes.
“You claim to be my fans and say you’ve liked me for a long time. Then you must know what my pinned post on Weibo is, right?” Wen Qingyun asked, her gaze falling on the three men.
The quick-witted cameraman immediately adjusted the lens, giving a close-up of the men’s flushed faces to the livestream audience.
“I… I… I… I like you as a person! I’m watching your livestream, I didn’t pay attention to what you posted on Weibo.”
“Exactly! We’ve been watching the stream, how would we know your Weibo posts?”
Wen Qingyun didn’t say a word, but Chu Ke and the female officer were already frowning deeply.
“Are you three really Ms. Wen’s fans?” the officer asked with a stern face.
“Yes, yes! We’ve liked Wen Qingyun for a long time!” one man shouted eagerly, while the other two chimed in.
Officer: “Why did you three show up here together today? Did you plan this in advance?”
“No, we three brothers ran into each other by chance early this morning. We were so sad that Wen Qingyun doesn’t like us male fans, so we drank some alcohol together.”
“Yeah, then we saw the livestream and knew Wen Qingyun was nearby, so we wanted to ask her face-to-face if she really doesn’t want us male fans anymore.”
“We didn’t have bad intentions; we just wanted to meet the idol we like.”
The three of them felt their story was flawless—insisting on their “true fan” status while providing a logical explanation for how they knew her location. But to everyone else, their words sounded very different.
【Wait, I’m confused. We know the whole ‘Wen Qingyun hates men’ thing started because her Weibo giveaway excluded men. So, if they know about that, how could they NOT know what her pinned post is?】
【Forget being a fan—anyone who has followed the drama even a little knows her pinned post is an advertisement, right?】
【It’s confirmed. These guys are definitely criminals pretending to be fans! Officer, please investigate! They must have been hired to hurt her!】
The men on the ground didn’t realize they had exposed a massive flaw in their story. They continued to insist they were fans and played the victim, trying to win the crowd’s sympathy and claim the moral high ground.
“We didn’t even touch her! We just wanted an answer! If she just says she needs male fans, we’ll be satisfied!”
“Officer, we’ve supported her for so long and spent so much time and energy. Can’t we even ask her one question?!”
The female officer didn’t respond. Instead, she silently adjusted her body cam and began scribbling notes in her small notebook.
“Officer, I have nothing more to say. I trust that the police will give me justice, and also give justice to my slandered fans. My fans are all wonderful people; they would never do something like this.”
Wen Qingyun sniffled, her eyes full of trust as she looked at the female officer.
The officer’s pen paused for a moment before she nodded firmly. “Rest assured, we will provide a satisfactory outcome for you and the public! We will not let criminals exploit any loopholes!”
