That year, as autumn leaves drifted to the ground, Gu Nianyin transferred to Nancheng High School. She was cold, aloof, and as elegant as a breeze after rain. After dominating the entrance exams, she instantly became the school’s recognized “Campus Flower” and a model student in the eyes of the teachers.
Meanwhile, Lin Xi sat in the very last row, boredly flipping through a manga, waiting for the teacher’s inevitable lecture on her plummeting grades. Her ears were filled with the whispers of classmates discussing how one might “pluck” this unreachable flower from the high peaks.
They were worlds apart; no one could imagine Lin Xi and Gu Nianyin in the same frame. Thus, no one expected that one day they would stand side-by-side. When a photo of them embracing in a narrow alley leaked, the school exploded in chaos.
But no one knew that they had done things far more intimate than a mere hug; the innocence of youth had long since melted away between their lips.
Later, one went north while the other traveled far overseas. The cold winds of the Siberian plateau were bone-chilling. Gu Nianyin stood in the vast, white snowscape and called Lin Xi. One call, two calls…
On the nineteenth attempt, the person on the other end finally picked up. What she received, however, was a single sentence: “Gu Nianyin, don’t contact me again. I never loved you from the start.”
No one knew that Lin Xi’s initial approach to Gu Nianyin was driven by an ulterior motive. And no one knew that Gu Nianyin had known it from the very beginning.
It is known to all that the new CEO of the Lin Group, Gu Nianyin, is cold by nature and decisive in action. Upon taking office, she handled the company veterans with such ruthlessness that everyone surrendered to her.
On the day Gu Nianyin returned to Nancheng, the social elite threw a lavish banquet to win her favor. At the event, Gu Nianyin moved with leisurely grace—composed, exquisite, and noble. Her presence made it impossible for anyone to stop stealing glances at her.
Yet, this very woman publicly “kidnapped” a certain person from the opposite ballroom, pinning her against a bathroom wall. With bloodshot eyes, she questioned her fiercely: “Lin Xi, you actually dare to come back?”
“Since you’re back, don’t even think about leaving again in this lifetime.”
