Cool Alpha Pregnant with a Dryad’s Cub - Chapter 2
Zhuo Ti noticed the woman in the white ancient costume as soon as she entered. While many people enjoyed cosplay, very few wore such outfits to a bar. Zhuo Ti was immediately drawn to her clothing.
The woman was followed by a man in a suit. Their attire made them standouts in the bar, yet as the two strolled through the venue, they somehow failed to attract the attention of others.
They sat at Booth 18. The reason Zhuo Ti kept looking was that the woman was simply too beautiful. In a bar, handsome men and beautiful women were everywhere, but the woman’s beauty was direct and dazzling. Coupled with her outfit, it was difficult not to notice her.
In the early hours of the morning, the bar’s excitement reached its peak. Since few people were ordering special mixes, Zhuo Ti had some free time and kept her eyes on Booths 18 and 19. The tattooed man had already slumped down, and he hadn’t gotten back up for quite a while.
The two in Booth 18… seemed to be watching her as well.
Zhuo Ti couldn’t be certain, as the swaying figures in between made it hard to see clearly.
“Zhuo Ti,” Wang Chun blinked her eyes. “How about you give me a ride home tonight? I really want to sit on your motorcycle.”
Zhuo Ti’s gaze landed on Wang Chun’s face. Wang Chun was cute and had a sweet voice. They had met at the bar over a month ago, and since then, Wang Chun had come almost every day, declaring her love for Zhuo Ti until every colleague knew about it.
Even though Zhuo Ti’s rejections were very blunt, Wang Chun hadn’t backed down. Zhuo Ti couldn’t understand why she was being so persistent.
Wang Chun toyed with her long hair, acting coquettishly. “Zhuo Ti, Zhuo Ti, pretty please?”
Her voice was soft and sweet, making it hard for any Alpha to resist. A male Alpha guest sitting near the bar smiled. “Little beauty, big brother will take you home.”
“I like her,” Wang Chun said, pointing at Zhuo Ti.
The male guest, holding his drink, moved his stool closer to Wang Chun and sat down beside her. “She’s no fun, giving you the cold shoulder. Look at me, I’ll take good care of you.”
The man leaned toward Wang Chun, who stood up in a fright. “Zhuo Ti, Zhuo Ti!”
The man tried to move forward again, but a hand clamped onto his shoulder with such force that he couldn’t budge. The man glared sideways at Zhuo Ti. “You motherfucker…”
“This is my friend, show some respect,” Zhuo Ti said.
The man pushed off the hand Zhuo Ti had placed on his shoulder. “I’ve been sitting here for an hour. She’s been throwing looks at you the whole time and you haven’t even glanced at her. What, you don’t want to pay attention to her, and you won’t let anyone else either?”
“We’re just playing around,” Zhuo Ti placed a green special mix in front of him. “Sorry, this one’s on the house.”
The man looked down. “Black Taboo?”
“Yes,” Zhuo Ti nodded.
The man’s anger gradually faded in the face of this drink. He picked it up, downed it in one go, and tossed the glass back onto the bar casually. “At least you know your place.”
Zhuo Ti caught the glass firmly before it could fall off the counter.
“Thank you,” Wang Chun thanked her.
Zhuo Ti said, “It’s my job. If you don’t know how to handle danger, stay away from bars.”
One moment Wang Chun thought she was getting closer to Zhuo Ti, and the next, she was shoved back to reality. She felt both anxious and frustrated, her eyes darting around as she thought for half a minute.
“You just said we’re friends. Surely you can take a friend home tonight,” Wang Chun said, looking at her.
Zhuo Ti lowered her head to wipe the counter. Why exactly was this girl huddling around her like this?
After a moment’s thought, she threw down her rag and took off the black soft leather glove on her right hand. She extended a fair, slender hand toward Wang Chun. “Shake hands.”
Wang Chun was puzzled but happily took her hand. “Does this mean we’re friends now?”
The handshake was over in an instant. Zhuo Ti put her glove back on and returned to her work.
Wang Chun was used to her silence, but her heart was still racing with anxiety, like ants gnawing at her. Getting close to Zhuo Ti was too difficult, yet only Zhuo Ti could save her. If she missed her chance with Zhuo Ti, she would likely die.
Zhuo Ti’s hand paused.
Save?
She looked up. “Are you in danger?”
“Huh?” Wang Chun was dazed. “What?”
Zhuo Ti stared at her. Wang Chun immediately brushed her hair behind her ear and gave a shy, timid smile.
Alphas should like this shy type, right?
Wang Chun wasn’t entirely sure, but her looks were on the cute side. Trying any other style would look out of place. She had to stick to this path and hope Zhuo Ti would soften her heart just a little.
Zhuo Ti looked displeased as she listened, but after a long time, she still hadn’t heard why Wang Chun was trying to get close to her.
The bar was closing, and guests were leaving one after another. The two in Booth 18 had already vanished at some point. When the guests in Booth 19 prepared to leave, Zhuo Ti quickly put down her work and told the manager she was finishing early today.
“You’re leaving?” Wang Chun grabbed her arm in a panic. “Are you really not taking me?”
“Next time,” Zhuo Ti dropped those two words.
She changed out of her work clothes very quickly, put on her own clothes, and donned a black baseball cap and a mask. She left through the back door of the bar’s loading tunnel.
The bar was in the middle of a lake, with a parking lot outside and only a bridge wide enough for two lanes leading to the opposite shore.
Zhuo Ti, dressed all in black, hid behind a sign near the bridge. Many people were coming out of the bar. The tattooed man’s group had drunk Zhuo Ti’s “special” special mix, and their footsteps were much more unsteady than everyone else’s.
She quickly spotted the group as they spun around at the entrance with messy steps.
The special mix from Booth 19 initially tasted bitter, and the second round of sweet drinks would create a chemical reaction with the previous alcohol, making one dizzy very quickly, especially when hit by the cool March night breeze.
The group of men suddenly crouched down at the entrance and vomited profusely.
Once they finished, a few of them leaned on each other and stumbled away. They were all so dazed they couldn’t tell north from south, wandering around the outdoor parking lot for a long time without finding the bridge.
They occasionally bumped into other people’s cars. The security guards at the entrance couldn’t stand it, fearing the cars would be damaged. They led the men across the bridge to the roadside on the other side.
There were many taxis by the road, and they got in one by one. The tattooed man remained sitting on the curb, waving them off. “You guys go back first! Don’t worry about me! I’m going to take a nap!”
They were all a mess from drinking, so no one bothered with him. The two guards who brought them over wanted to shove him into a taxi; he shouldn’t be sleeping near the bar, as they would be blamed if something happened.
“Leave him to me, you guys go back,” someone said, patting their backs.
The two guards looked at the person behind them—dressed in black with a black cap and mask. They didn’t recognize who it was for a moment and assumed it was the tattooed man’s friend. Since someone else was taking over, they didn’t want to deal with it and immediately turned to leave.
Zhuo Ti draped the tattooed man’s arm over her shoulder. The man was tall and fat, and she struggled to lift him.
“You don’t need to worry about me!” The tattooed man didn’t know who was helping him. “Dizzy, so dizzy, let me rest a bit.”
Zhuo Ti dragged him with difficulty to the roadside green belt and dropped his arm. The tattooed man collapsed onto the ground like he had no bones.
“Ow!” The man yelled while lying down with his eyes closed, baring his teeth but having no strength.
Zhuo Ti knew he was feeling dizzier than someone who was just drunk; this reaction was exactly as she expected.
The bushes weren’t high, but once the man lay down, he was out of sight. There were many cars and people on the road, but no one noticed this corner.
Zhuo Ti kicked the man hard in the thigh.
“Oh!” The man snapped his eyes open, but he could see nothing. His vision was blurry, and he even thought it was his own hallucination. He panted and rubbed his kicked thigh, then closed his eyes again.
Zhuo Ti lifted her foot and kicked him again viciously, once, twice, many times. The man cried out in pain but couldn’t get up, and he couldn’t even see who was hitting him.
Once she had vented her anger, Zhuo Ti knelt down and patted the tattooed man’s face, which was contorted in pain. “Abuse a small animal again, and it won’t be as simple as a beating.”
She dragged him from the green belt to the roadside and hailed a taxi to shove him inside. Zhuo Ti brushed her hands off and turned around, satisfied.
Behind her was the bridge leading to the bar. The bridge had guardrails 1.5 meters high on both sides. Two people were sitting on the guardrails, the same two from Booth 18. The streetlights were above them, and Zhuo Ti saw them staring at her.
So, they had seen her entire performance just now?
This row of greenery was well-maintained, and the lakeside was full of trees. She didn’t believe they could see clearly when she was thrashing the man in the bushes.
Zhuo Ti remained composed and walked onto the bridge. Although she didn’t look at the two on the guardrail, she could feel them watching her. When she reached them, Zhuo Ti looked up.
At such close range, the woman was truly too beautiful. Her face seemed to be without makeup, yet even under the dim streetlights, she was so attractive that one wanted to look more. It was a bold, striking beauty.
Zhuo Ti didn’t linger; she just took one look and retracted her gaze.
Once Zhuo Ti had walked far away, Xu Zhuangyuan said, “She really can see us, yet she is clearly a human.”
Gongsun Wu swung her feet and jumped down from the railing. “It’s coming.”
“What?” Xu Zhuangyuan also jumped down.
“That little demon.” Gongsun Wu stepped into the parking lot.
The area surrounding the bar was all parking space. Xu Zhuangyuan followed Gongsun Wu as they tracked the scent to the back of the bar. There was a row of covered parking spots for electric scooters and motorcycles.
A blue-black motorcycle was parked at the edge of the shed. Two people were standing by the bike—the human and the white-skirted demon.
Xu Zhuangyuan was about to keep moving forward, but he was grabbed by the back of his neck and pulled back two steps.
“Idiot, she can see us.” Gongsun Wu held him, and the two hid behind a car.
The distance wasn’t that close, but as they were talking, Gongsun Wu shifted her intent, and the voices over there came through clearly.
“I saw your bike was here, so I knew you hadn’t left. That ‘next time’ you mentioned, let’s make it tonight.”
The human put on a helmet and got on the bike. “I don’t have an extra helmet, it’s not safe.”
The demon shook her head. “It doesn’t matter. It’s so late there won’t be any traffic police. Just ride slowly, it’ll be fine.”
The human stared at the demon. “Are you sure that if I take you home, you’ll never pester me again?”
“Mm-hmm, for sure! I’m a woman of my word.”
The human hesitated for a moment before saying, “Get on.”
The demon happily sat on the back seat of the motorcycle and wrapped her arms around the other person’s waist. The other turned back and looked. “Just grab my clothes.”
The demon changed her grip to the edge of the person’s jacket, and the motorcycle started up and left.
“Should we follow?” Xu Zhuangyuan asked.
Gongsun Wu stared at their departing backs and asked, “Why must she pester this human?”
Xu Zhuangyuan thought for a moment. “I’m wondering if that human might be someone with a ‘Pure Yin’ constitution.”
Gongsun Wu was puzzled. “What’s the connection?”
“Boss, I’ve told you before,” Xu Zhuangyuan said helplessly.
“Have you? When?”
“Two months ago, when you just got back from the Kunlun Mountains.”
“Would it kill you to say it again?” Gongsun Wu shot him a sidelong glance.
Xu Zhuangyuan said, “The blood of a Pure Yin person can nourish a demon soul. Some demons on the brink of death will seek out such people when they have no other choice.”
“To kill?” Gongsun Wu’s brow furrowed slightly.
“I don’t know, it’s all just my speculation,” Xu Zhuangyuan shrugged.
