- After Being Taken by the Eldest Young Lady
- Chapter 5 - "Did You Think Your Acting Was That Good?"
Even though Fang Yize was drunk, she retained a sliver of consciousness. Hearing Fang Yu’s words, she felt a sudden, inexplicable churning in her stomach and a splitting headache—she wasn’t sure if she was just physically sick or genuinely disgusted.
Suddenly, she lurched her body toward Fang Yu.
“Blegh!!!”
Sun Lin lost her grip, and Fang Yize broke free. As she retched up the alcohol she’d consumed throughout the evening, she kept leaning closer to Fang Yu.
Their old classmates scrambled backward in terror.
Jiang Xule stood to the side of Sun Lin with her arms crossed, leisurely watching the spectacle unfold.
Sensing someone suddenly standing beside her, Sun Lin was startled. Once she realized who it was, she was even more taken aback.
Seeing Fang Yize’s crush at such a close distance, she finally understood what Fang Yize meant by “sexual tension.” This person possessed a face that could be described as truly heroic—the kind of face that looked stunning whether styled as masculine or feminine.
However, Sun Lin seemed to be blocking Jiang Xule’s view of the show. Jiang Xule knit her brows slightly and stepped down one stair to get a better look at Fang Yize.
“Fang Yize! Are you trying to be disgusting?!”
Covered in vomit, Fang Yu had completely abandoned any attempt at maintaining her composure. She jumped around in revulsion, tears nearly welling up. Fang Yize’s hand was still gripping her arm for support, and no matter how hard Fang Yu shook, she couldn’t shake her off. Fang Yu was left feeling even more like crying.
“Let go! Let go of me!”
“Blegh!!!” Fang Yize used Fang Yu like a human trash can.
“Aah! Help! Sun Lin! Get her off me quickly!!”
In truth, Sun Lin found it quite cathartic and had no real intention of dragging Fang Yize away. But seeing Fang Yu wailing like a ghost made her look somewhat pitiful, so she decided to grant the request.
“Yi-yi, be good. Let’s be a civilized citizen; we can’t just vomit everywhere.”
To finish it off, Fang Yize grabbed Fang Yu’s skirt and used it to wipe her mouth.
“Fang Yize, you are truly disgusting!”
“Fang Yu, she’s drunk. You should be more understanding!”
“Yeah, it’s not like she did it on purpose.”
The other classmates were still making excuses for Fang Yize even now. It was clear how badly they wanted to curry favor with the Fang family. However, Fang Yize didn’t feel comfortable around some of these people; no matter how much they flattered her, it was useless.
Fang Yize was actually quite sober now, but since they all insisted she was wasted, she played along. She swayed unsteadily, leaning her weight against Sun Lin.
However, from her position, a slight turn of her head allowed her to see Jiang Xule. Her eyes brightened instantly, and her heart rate accelerated, pounding against her ribs as if it were about to burst through her skin!
Chen Li had personally seen the old classmates forcing Fang Yize to drink. Fang Yize had a very youthful appearance and didn’t look like someone who could handle her liquor; furthermore, Chen Li saw no reason for her to fake being drunk. Thus, Chen Li relented and agreed to let Sun Lin take Fang Yize home.
Jiang Xule didn’t want to go either, so she made up an excuse: “I still have overtime to do.” To take time out of such a busy schedule to see old classmates—she seemed truly loyal and righteous.
In reality, she had been asked “Why didn’t you take the National College Entrance Exam back then?” at least $n$ times throughout the night. She was annoyed by the questioning and simply didn’t want to stay.
And so, the three of them stood on the steps, watching the group of classmates depart—some taking taxis, some driving themselves, and others being picked up by personal chauffeurs.
Jiang Xule stood in place looking down at her phone, hailing a ride. She quickly sensed someone’s gaze directed at her. She originally intended to ignore it, but the estimated time for the Didi ride was quite long; she couldn’t just stand there awkwardly forever.
She looked back and saw Sun Lin immediately putting on a smile. “Old classmate, care to help out? It won’t be for nothing!”
Jiang Xule grew interested. “What’s the catch?”
“I assume you’re calling a ride online. Isn’t it unsafe for a girl to take a taxi alone so late at night?” Sun Lin chuckled in a fawning manner and added, “If you help me look after Fang Yize, I’ll drop you off on the way.”
“It’s not on the way,” Jiang Xule replied without a hint of hesitation.
She truly didn’t want to spend another second in the same space as Fang Yize. Even breathing the same air felt a bit nauseating.
“Wait, you don’t even know where we’re going yet, how do you know it’s not on the way? Honestly, I’ll be really fast, five minutes!”
Not even for a second.
Fang Yize kept her eyes closed, leaning obediently on Sun Lin’s shoulder. She wasn’t actually asleep; she heard every word of their conversation.
“Taxis are quite expensive at this hour. Wouldn’t it be better to save that money for a good meal?”
Jiang Xule withdrew her gaze, considering it. It was true; the distance was far, and a round trip would cost fifty yuan. With that money, she could buy a bowl of pork intestine noodles with extra toppings.
Enduring Fang Yize’s presence for a bit didn’t seem like much of a loss, and she could experience what it felt like to ride in a luxury car.
So, she agreed. This was something Fang Yize hadn’t expected at all; when she was handed over to Jiang Xule, she was so excited she nearly jumped.
Oh my god, oh my god, Jiang Xule is holding my arm right now!
But it wasn’t particularly comfortable. They maintained a distance such that another Fang Yize could have stood between them. Their posture and movements looked quite ridiculous.
The hotel janitor came over with cleaning tools to tidy up Fang Yize’s vomit. Seeing this, Jiang Xule shot Fang Yize another glare.
Still, she turned to the janitor and offered an apology on Fang Yize’s behalf.
However, given how much this group had spent today, the hotel didn’t mind a little vomit on the floor; such things were common enough.
Fang Yize stood perfectly upright with her eyes closed. Normally, who could stand that straight while supposedly passed out drunk? Jiang Xule felt that if she let go, Fang Yize would remain standing there like a stone statue.
Thus, she ruthlessly exposed her: “Stop pretending. Everyone else is gone.”
With that, she let go of Fang Yize’s arm.
Fang Yize slowly opened her eyes, awkwardly rubbing the spot on her arm where Jiang Xule had gripped her too hard.
“How did you know I was faking?”
“Did you think your acting was that good?”
Fang Yize chuckled to herself for a moment before saying bashfully, “I didn’t realize you were paying so much attention to me.”
Jiang Xule: “…”
I can’t be bothered with you.
Sun Lin was worried Jiang Xule might do something excessive to Fang Yize, so she moved quite quickly.
Once they were in the car, Jiang Xule gave her address. It indeed wasn’t on the way, but since Jiang Xule had put up with looking after Fang Yize, Sun Lin didn’t mind taking the long way around.
Fang Yize sat in the passenger seat, turned sideways to watch the night scenery out the window.
After a period of silence in the car, Jiang Xule’s voice suddenly came from the back. She asked, “Excuse me, is it okay to smoke in the car?”
Is that even a question?
But Sun Lin’s tolerance was high. She had seen plenty of girls smoking and drinking, and Jiang Xule wasn’t the first person to smoke in her car—though she was the first to actually ask permission.
Considering that Fang Yize didn’t smoke, Sun Lin said, “If you want to smoke, go ahead, but open the window and blow it outside. Here’s an ashtray.”
As she spoke, she reached back to hand Jiang Xule the ashtray.
Sun Lin’s ashtray was a high-end, transparent crystal piece. It was far more sophisticated than the plastic water bottles Jiang Xule used in her rental room. Both were transparent, so why was the difference so vast?
Fang Yize hadn’t expected Jiang Xule to be a smoker. Hearing the sound of the lighter, she looked back curiously and saw Jiang Xule leaning her elbow on the window frame, her face turned toward the outside as she exhaled smoke.
The night breeze blew through her side-parted bangs. The neon lights from outside illuminated her face; her brow was slightly furrowed, her lips parted slightly, and her jawline was sharp.
She looked really… really “Alpha.”
It seemed she even looked different from others when she smoked.
Sun Lin was focused on driving and had no time to notice Fang Yize’s small reactions.
A thought suddenly flashed through Fang Yize’s mind: smoking did seem to make one look more mature. She made a mental note to try it herself next time.
Sometimes even she didn’t understand why she was so obsessed with the “mature spicy girl” style.
The G-Wagon couldn’t enter the narrow alley where Jiang Xule lived, so it had to stop at the entrance of Liu Street. It was about a five-minute walk from there.
Fang Yize watched her walk into the darkness until she gradually disappeared from sight.
“Are you done looking? Let’s go.”
“Mhm.”
Sun Lin shook her head helplessly and struggled to reverse the car.
Summer in Yuegang City was truly sweltering. Even at 6:00 AM in May, the sun was hot enough to make one’s skin itch, and the oncoming breeze carried a stifling, scalding heat.
Fang Yize had collapsed onto her bed and fallen into a deep sleep the moment she returned last night. She had forgotten to turn on the air conditioning, and when she woke up at 8:00 AM, she was drenched in sweat.
The bright sunlight poured in from the balcony; the glare was almost unbearable for Fang Yize, who had just opened her eyes.
She squinted and waited on the bed for a moment, reached for the AC remote on the nightstand, turned it on, and then headed toward the bathroom.
Not only was she covered in the smell of alcohol from yesterday, but she was also covered in sweat. She turned on the cold water in the shower and let it run immediately. As the cold water poured down her neck, the oppressive heat vanished instantly.
After showering, she washed her hair. Her white dress was soaked in red wine for the whole night and was definitely beyond saving, so she tossed it into the trash.
After drying her hair, she browsed her phone while heading toward the kitchen. she grabbed cold milk from the fridge and paired it with some cereal; a simple breakfast solved.
The interface on her phone was Taobao. She was searching for “women’s cigarettes”—the long, thin kind.
But then she remembered that the cigarette Jiang Xule smoked yesterday wasn’t a thin one.
She originally intended to search for which cigarettes tasted the best, but she was pushed a detailed video titled “Smoking is Harmful to Your Health.” It was so thorough that it made Fang Yize feel uneasy.
She immediately hit the power button on her phone and tossed it aside. Standing at the breakfast bar, she quickly finished her meal.
Afterward, she sat in the living room to prepare for the classes she had to teach tomorrow.
Her days were quite full; she never let herself stay idle. If she truly had nothing to do, she would go out drinking with Sun Lin.
At 3:00 PM, just as she finished her lesson planning, her doorbell rang.
Guests rarely came to her home. To be precise, her circle of wealthy, socialite friends didn’t care to visit a rental unit in this kind of neighborhood.
Assuming it was Sun Lin, she stood up to open the door just as she received a call from an unknown number.
The person on the phone said it was an SF Express delivery.
After hanging up, she cautiously peered through the peephole. To her surprise, she saw a familiar face.
Jiang Xule.
Jiang Xule?!
