Cat Demon Raising Manual - Chapter 10
Grandma’s way of raising cats was nothing short of meticulous. There’s a kind of hunger called “Grandma thinks you’re hungry.” After staying at Wu Wei’s house for a few days, Hua Wangxuan felt like she was living a life of luxury, clothes were handed to her, meals were served to her, and her fur had even fluffed up a bit more. The flesh on her belly had grown softer.
Hua Wangxuan was both delighted and troubled. She opened her mouth to accept the treats Wan Jinhua fed her, one adorable ceramic spoonful after another shoved into her mouth. She licked the fur around her lips and squirmed in Wan Jinhua’s arms, she really couldn’t eat any more.
She let out a burp and looked at Wan Jinhua with teary eyes, hoping the woman would understand.
But Wan Jinhua misinterpreted her expression and praised her repeatedly for being so well-behaved. “Are you so moved by finally having a full meal that you’re crying? Don’t worry, little cat, there are plenty of good days ahead for you.”
Wu Wei took a bottle of Wangzai Milk from the fridge and gave a faint, knowing smirk, though she said nothing.
“Oh, I’ve told you so many times, don’t drink cold things in the morning. It’s bad for your stomach,” Wan Jinhua sighed disapprovingly.
Seizing the opportunity, Hua Wangxuan jumped down from her lap and tiptoed over to Wu Wei. Under Wu Wei’s puzzled gaze, she stepped right over her shoes, her squirrel-like tail lightly brushing against the girl’s pant leg.
“Chubby cat, acting all high and mighty,” Wu Wei chuckled softly. With a click, she opened the canned milk and took a refreshing sip. With her deep-set brows and mature bone structure, who would have guessed that the school bully secretly loved drinking Wangzai Milk?
“Dear granddaughter, I’ve noticed that other people give their cats fun names. Shouldn’t our little furball have one too?” Wan Jinhua was suddenly inspired and hoped Wu Wei could help come up with a good name.
Hearing this, Hua Wangxuan perked up her ears curiously. She had heard that other believers gave their cat masters cute nicknames. Since she was so adorable, she deserved a cute nickname too, right?
For some reason, Hua Wangxuan thought of Dr. Lin. It had been days since she last visited her. She wondered how the doctor was doing.
Dr. Lin always called her “Mimi,” which wasn’t unique at all. She’d heard that name used everywhere. Although Dr. Lin’s voice sounded nice when she said “Mimi,” it still felt awkward to her.
Hua Wangxuan was not a cat so easily satisfied.
Unless Dr. Lin allowed her to sleep on the bed with her.
Her thoughts drifted wildly, and just then, she heard the young girl’s slightly teasing voice: “How about calling her ‘Chubby Tiger’? She looks pretty sturdy.”
No way! She didn’t want to be called Chubby Tiger! How outrageous, she wasn’t fat at all! It was just that her fur was too fluffy and fine. That wretched human girl had no right to slander her!
Hua Wangxuan immediately fluffed up her fur, grumbling and complaining, her face clearly showing her displeasure.
Wu Wei’s shoulders trembled almost imperceptibly, her laughter like a reef emerging from the water, low and magnetic, the voice of a mature older sister. “It seems Chubby Tiger isn’t too happy with her new name.”
Hua Wangxuan argued back with a series of indignant meows.
She was a great beauty in the cat world, a stunning feline who captivated thousands. The only one who could rival her was a black Linqing Lion Cat with golden-yellow eyes and a bit of a hearing problem. Rumor had it that after transforming, that cat had become a somewhat famous wilderness exploration blogger in the human world.
That little black cat’s human form had the same skin tone as Wu Wei, a honey-like wheat color, with smooth muscle lines, wild and beautiful.
Hua Wangxuan circled around Wu Wei, reaching out her paws to cling to her pants, intending to climb up her long legs and scratch that detestable face of Wu Wei’s.
Wu Wei immediately stepped back, her eyes filled with disdain, muttering “Back off, back off, back off.”
“She’s just a little girl. Calling her ‘Chubby Tiger’ is so unflattering. The cats at the pet hospital the other day were all mesmerized by our precious. You should think of a nicer name.” Wan Jinhua shook her head, smiling as she watched Hua Wangxuan and Wu Wei bicker.
“A little girl’s name…” Wu Wei tapped her slender, bony fingers lightly on her chin, her tone lilting with a lingering charm. Her thin lips curved into a smile. “Is she very popular?”
“Then let’s call her Marie, Marie~” Wu Wei’s narrow gaze swept over Hua Wangxuan’s sweet face, and she let out a meaningful chuckle.
Wan Jinhua walked over, crouched down, her eyes crinkling with laugh lines that spoke of years of kindness. She looked gentle and amiable. “That’s quite stylish. Does our little Marie like this name?”
Hua Wangxuan, hearing Wan Jinhua’s words and unaware of Wu Wei’s malicious intent, smoothed her long white whiskers and raised her tail high, looking quite pleased.
Hua Wangxuan had always respected the elderly and cherished the young. Since Wan Jinhua was kind to her, she was happy to show respect in return.
Without any objection, Hua Wangxuan’s affectionate nickname in Wu Wei’s household was settled as “Marie.”
The small Western-style house was spacious, with no shortage of rooms. Hua Wangxuan had her own dedicated bedroom next to Wu Wei’s. From time to time, she would leave tiny peach blossom paw prints on Wu Wei’s mattress, then strut past her with an air of triumph.
Wu Wei, busy earning money by playing games for others under the lamplight, had no time to pay attention to Hua Wangxuan’s provocations. She was saving up to buy herself a coming-of-age gift, a motorcycle she had been eyeing for a long time. She planned to buy it after graduating from high school and getting her driver’s license, then ride it around the Qingyi River overpass.
Cool and stylish, she would experience the wind of freedom.
Noticing that Wu Wei’s attention was elsewhere, Hua Wangxuan’s eyes sparkled with mischief. She leaped lightly onto the table, where a glass of water caught her eye.
The light reflected off the glass, making it sparkle like a diamond. Hua Wangxuan reached out with her paw to tap it, but the glass didn’t budge, it was quite heavy.
She glanced at the busy Wu Wei, then leaned her little head closer to the glass. Quickly, she stuck out her damp tongue and took a lick. Peeking at Wu Wei out of the corner of her eye and seeing no reaction, she wagged her tail happily and began drinking from the glass.
Hua Wangxuan drank to her heart’s content, undisturbed in her foraging.
After quenching her thirst, she jumped off the table and started playing with Wu Wei’s slippers.
Wu Wei’s slippers had a black cartoon kitten pattern on them, which Hua Wangxuan had disliked for a long time. Grunting, she clamped her teeth onto the design and refused to let go.
“Marie, stop messing around. Those are my slippers, you can’t chew on them.” The persistent noise finally caught Wu Wei’s attention. She reached out and lightly flicked Hua Wangxuan’s head, her tone serious.
Hua Wangxuan shot Wu Wei a disdainful glare and turned her rear toward her.
Watching Hua Wangxuan’s antics, Wu Wei tilted her head, reminded of a short video she had stumbled upon earlier. Hesitantly, she reached out her hand, larger than most people’s, and patted Hua Wangxuan’s bottom.
Perhaps due to a natural talent, Wu Wei patted with remarkable ease, applying just the right amount of force, showing no trace of the awkwardness one might expect from someone patting a cat’s bottom for the first time.
Hua Wangxuan widened her eyes in disbelief. A strange yet unique sensation surged through her mind, as if her entire body were blossoming with delight. Though she felt a hint of shame, the overwhelming pleasure kept her from pulling away.
Her bottom naturally arched upward, like a bamboo shoot sprouting rapidly after the first spring rain. The faster the rhythm, the higher it rose.
Unable to hold back, Hua Wangxuan let out a soft whimper.
So strange, yet so delightful~
What was controlling her mind? Why did her bottom arch so willingly? Why did her tail instinctively stiffen?
With a series of mewling sounds, Hua Wangxuan found herself torn, part of her hoped Wu Wei would stop and end the peculiar sensation, while another part wished he would never cease.
But joy is often fleeting. When Wu Wei’s warm, broad palm finally withdrew, Hua Wangxuan collapsed onto the carpet like a puddle of water, her eyes vacant and her tail drooping.
Wu Wei retracted her hand, her phoenix eyes narrowing slightly as she glanced at her palm and then at Hua Wangxuan’s utterly spent state. An inexplicable sense of guilt washed over her.
When feeling awkward, people often resort to unnecessary actions, like eating or drinking.
So, Wu Wei picked up the cup Hua Wangxuan had sipped from earlier and took several large gulps. Her slender, toned neck moved gracefully as her Adam’s apple bobbed with each swallow.
She licked her thin lips, moistened by the water, and couldn’t help but feel that the water tasted a little unusual today.
