Captive Moon: Redeemed the Wrong Temptress (GL) - Chapter 17
Bai Lan frowned, her peripheral vision fixed on the man. He looked barely in his early twenties, yet his face was harsh and yet his manner was prematurely aged. The instinctive aversion was impossible to suppress. Bai Lan unconsciously shifted slightly away, continuing to listen to his phone call to confirm her suspicions.
“It’s Jiang Yunong, Uncle. Check her out—she started around the same time as me. Ugh, I told you about her during training. She’s so petty… Jiang, like the river; Yunong, like heavy rain; Rain, spelled R-A-I-N.”
This litany of details confirmed Bai Lan’s suspicions. The man before her was Deng, the one who had targeted Jiang Yunong. She had to tell Jiang Yunong about this.
Bai Lan, unarmed, couldn’t just stuff Deng Hao into a sack and drag him off for a beating. But she wasn’t about to let him off easy either.
Two minutes later, Deng Hao stepped onto a patch of water-soaked leaves. Muddy water splashed all over him, soaking his pant legs and making him jump back in disgust. But the mud was treacherous—incredibly slippery. He lost his footing and went down hard.
“Fucking hell!” Deng Hao erupted in a torrent of profanity.
Bai Lan had already retreated into the crowd. She kept a casual eye on Deng Hao’s predicament. By the time Deng Hao finally stood, his pants were soaked through, leaving a conspicuous wet patch that made passersby stifle their laughter.
“What are you staring at? Keep looking and I’ll gouge your eyes out!” he snarled, glaring back at them.
“This is fucking awful…” Deng Hao continued complaining to his uncle on the phone.
Bai Lan withdrew her gaze indifferently.
Just after six o’clock, Jiang Yunong returned home. Bai Lan was already waiting for her at the door. Seeing her open it, she reached out.
Jiang Yunong caught the woman as she rushed into her arms, but she felt Bai Lan’s embrace was a little tighter than usual today.
“You cooked again?” After hugging for five minutes, Jiang Yunong finally snapped out of the lingering fragrance clinging to Bai Lan and noticed the aroma of food.
“I’m making soup. It’s not ready yet. We promised we’d have a late-night snack.”
Bai Lan’s voice was soft and gentle. Jiang Yunong didn’t want to let go. They stayed wrapped in each other’s arms, slowly retreating into the living room.
“I don’t remember agreeing to a late-night snack,” Jiang Yunong said. Her hand unconsciously drifted to the top of Bai Lan’s head, gently stroking her hair.
“We agreed to have dinner together last night…” Bai Lan murmured, a hint of displeasure in her voice as she nuzzled into the crook of Jiang Yunong’s neck.
“And what if I don’t want to eat?” Jiang Yunong whispered close to Bai Lan’s ear, her tone almost deliberately suggestive.
Bai Lan finally understood. Jiang Yunong had been drawn out by her and was now taking the initiative. Bai Lan cupped Jiang Yunong’s face in her hands. Her eyes were slightly flushed, reflecting the clouds outside the window.
“Master,” Bai Lan’s voice was solemn.
But in the next moment, she had no chance to ponder further—no chance to think at all. Bai Lan gently bit Jiang Yunong’s lip, her movements even more cautious than the day before.
Yet her movements were extraordinarily earnest. It felt as if Bai Lan truly loved her.
Jiang Yunong couldn’t bear Bai Lan’s gentle approach any longer. She wrapped her arms around Bai Lan’s waist, pulling her closer with a slight tug. From her submissive position, she unleashed the storm she craved.
Bai Lan’s eyes welled up with tears again from the intensity of the kiss. She blinked, and hot tears streamed down.
It wasn’t until Bai Lan sensed something amiss and gently pushed against Jiang Yunong that she finally released her.
“I… I need to go to the bathroom,” Bai Lan said, her voice trembling slightly, her expression flustered.
“Um, Yunong… please let me through… please…” Only when she heard Bai Lan’s tearful plea did Jiang Yunong quickly step aside.
I should scold my own perverted mind, she thought. She just needed to pee, and here I was thinking…
Jiang Yunong went to pour water, preparing a glass for Bai Lan as well. What Jiang Yunong didn’t know was that Bai Lan, having finally made it to the bathroom, discovered—it wasn’t just her eyes that were wet.
Bai Lan stayed in the bathroom for quite a while. She emerged awkwardly, and Jiang Yunong, who was in the room, handed her a glass of water.
“Thanks…” Bai Lan said, still a little embarrassed.
“Did you feed them yet?” Jiang Yunong asked calmly.
“Not yet. I fed them a bit late this morning,” Bai Lan replied, drinking the cold water.
“Tell me about your day,” Jiang Yunong said softly as she watched Bai Lan feed the two small pets.
“I went for a walk and found a boutique nearby that sells custom-made clothing. The designs and fabrics were really beautiful.”
“Then I went home to make lunch, letting Tangyuan out to play with me for a while. Mango seemed angry and ignored me all afternoon.”
“Maybe it just wanted you to play with it too. I was mostly worried it might hurt you—its claws are so sharp.”
“They’re not sharp!” Mango retorted, turning its head back to argue.
“How are they not sharp? Don’t you remember all the scratches you’ve given me?”
“This parrot of yours… it’s practically sentient!” Bai Lan exclaimed.
“They’re naturally intelligent birds,” Jiang Yunong said. “It’s just that Mango has a terrible temper.”
Her gaze drifted to Bai Lan’s hand. “What happened to your hand?” Jiang Yunong asked.
Seeing Bai Lan’s guilty expression and her attempt to pull away, Jiang Yunong stepped forward and gently took her hand.
“A burn? Were you careless while cooking?” Jiang Yunong’s heart clenched at the sight of the redness.
“I’ll get the burn cream. You got hurt and didn’t even treat it yourself, or tell me? Sis, are you silly?”
“I’m sorry…” Bai Lan’s eyes reddened under the scolding, and a tear slipped down her cheek.
“Hey, I’m not criticizing you. I just…” Jiang Yunong realized she had been a bit harsh. She took the burn cream and carefully applied it to Bai Lan’s hand. “Next time you get hurt, tell me, and take care of it properly, okay?”
After applying the ointment, Jiang Yunong carefully examined Bai Lan’s arms and legs. Bai Lan was so embarrassed she wanted to burrow into the ground.
“I’m sorry, Sis,” Jiang Yunong said gently, “I didn’t mean to be harsh. I just care about you. After all, you’re mine now, and it’s my duty to protect you.”
Bai Lan’s cheeks flushed even deeper. Perhaps… she really didn’t need to add so much seduction and testing to their relationship. Jiang Yunong had given her a heart full of genuine sincerity.
“So, how exactly did you get hurt?” Jiang Yunong wiped away the tears from the corner of Bai Lan’s eye.
“It was this afternoon… Yunong, I saw you meeting with your ex-girlfriend,” Bai Lan blurted out, her words completely unrelated to the question.
