Captive Moon: Redeemed the Wrong Temptress (GL) - Chapter 13
“Did it capture his face?” Bai Lan asked as Jiang Yunong pressed the fast-forward button.
“There should be something. Deng Hao never expected me to install a surveillance camera at my workstation, so he didn’t even bother to disguise himself,” Jiang Yunong said.
A moment later, she paused the video. “Got it. Let me adjust the clarity.”
Bai Lan sat beside her, watching with fascination. “I originally thought you didn’t have any concrete evidence, and since the company refused to let you access the surveillance footage, that’s why I gave you that advice.”
Bai Lan lowered her gaze. How did she come to know these schemes?
“If there’s surveillance footage, why not just have him play it in front of everyone? Can your USB drive be remotely controlled?”
Jiang Yunong opened several windows Bai Lan didn’t understand. “If he’s foolish enough to take the USB drive home and plug it into his own computer…”
Bai Lan’s suggestion sparked an idea. After a few quick maneuvers, she had indeed hacked into Deng Hao’s computer.
“Will this leave any traces?” Bai Lan asked, waiting for Jiang Yunong’s progress.
“Not once we retrieve the USB drive,” Jiang Yunong replied.
This USB drive had been a gift from Luo Yunjian’s senior classmate.
“That’s good. The report is due tomorrow, right?”
“Yes, tomorrow at noon. I’m not sure if I’ll have to work late, but I’ll text you in the afternoon. If I do, don’t wait for me for dinner.” Jiang Yunong finished her work, double-checking everything.
“No way. At least we should have dinner together. I don’t mind waiting a bit.” Bai Lan was unusually insistent on this. “Unless you go to the cafeteria for dinner at five too.”
“Skipping one meal won’t kill me,” Jiang Yunong said, still trying to dissuade Bai Lan.
Suddenly, Bai Lan leaned in close, their noses almost touching. The humid warmth clung to Jiang Yunong’s lips.
“Master,” Bai Lan’s voice was solemn, almost like a vow. “You haven’t eaten dinner yourself. Why insist I do? You’re the one who matters most.”
Bai Lan truly seemed like a bold, reckless servant, yet utterly devoted and loyal. Surprisingly, Jiang Yunong didn’t dislike this feeling. Tonight, Jiang Yunong finally assumed the role of a true “Master.”
Jiang Yunong stopped indulging Bai Lan. Instead, she chose the opportune moment to bare her fangs.
Jiang Yunong gripped Bai Lan’s hand, which had been resting on her lips. “Don’t you think you’re overstepping your boundaries?”
Bai Lan was forced backward by Jiang Yunong’s pressure. She was pinned against the desk.
More capricious than a cat, she twisted her head away even when restrained. More compliant than a fox, she offered no resistance. In the minute Jiang Yunong’s shadow blocked the light, Bai Lan’s breathing quickened uncontrollably. Her eyes grew sultry.
Jiang Yunong couldn’t understand how things had escalated to this point. But Bai Lan’s gaze was clearly calculated.
Jiang Yunong could see it: at least this time, Bai Lan was deliberately trying to seduce her. Yet Jiang Yunong still wanted to kiss her. She lowered her head.
Just as her lips were about to touch Bai Lan’s slightly parted ones, Jiang Yunong felt Bai Lan’s breath shift. Bai Lan tilted her head back, letting the kiss land on her jawline instead.
The moment the kiss missed its mark, an indescribable itch surged through Jiang Yunong’s heart. Abandoning her usual restraint, she cupped Bai Lan’s face. Jiang Yunong forcefully turned Bai Lan’s head and pressed her down, then bit down on her restless lips with unwavering determination.
For the first time, Bai Lan found herself breathless from a kiss by this usually humble woman. Trembling, she nearly slid off the desk, but Jiang Yunong pulled her back without hesitation.
Curled awkwardly beneath Jiang Yunong, Bai Lan endured her storm-like, intense kisses. Her hands flailed helplessly before Jiang Yunong pinned her wrists. Bai Lan felt Jiang Yunong’s fingers tracing her tattoo. Would she finally cross the line with her Master?
But the kisses gradually subsided. The woman who had brought her warmth simply withdrew. The moment their lips parted, Bai Lan gasped for air, panting heavily.
Jiang Yunong gazed at her, a mix of reluctance and restless desire in her eyes. Jiang Yunong held Bai Lan pinned down for two minutes. Only then did she release her grip, rise, and pull Bai Lan up with her.
Bai Lan’s legs were numb, and she had no strength left to stand. She trembled for a moment before collapsing into Jiang Yunong’s arms. This embrace was answer enough.
Buried in Jiang Yunong’s embrace, Bai Lan couldn’t help but smile. Tonight, tomorrow… she could stay in this home without worry.
“Let’s go wash up and go to bed,” Jiang Yunong finally said. She released Bai Lan and walked into the bedroom. Bai Lan tentatively reached out and took Jiang Yunong’s hand. Jiang Yunong didn’t pull away.
“I’ll be back early,” Jiang Yunong said, patting Bai Lan’s head before leaving the next morning.
“I’ll be waiting for you,” Bai Lan replied.
“…Okay. Be careful out there. Stay safe, text me if anything comes up, and call if it’s urgent.”
Jiang Yunong closed the door and exhaled. She was already reluctant to leave.
Arriving at the office, Jiang Yunong wasn’t surprised to see Deng Hao loitering near her workstation.
“Get out of my way,” Jiang Yunong said, shoving Deng Hao aside with her chair.
Deng Hao, convinced he had the upper hand, was in high spirits. “Don’t be like that. Team Leader Yan just agreed to let us co-present. Want to rehearse?”
“Ha! No need. Just figure out your part. You didn’t even write the slides,” Jiang Yunong sneered.
“Tch, you’re wasting your kindness on someone who doesn’t appreciate it,” Deng Hao muttered, propping his head on his hand as he sauntered away.
“Did he bother you again?” Xiao Ya asked, finally approaching.
Jiang Yunong nodded. “He’s so annoying.”
“Enough about him. Have you noticed how lively it is downstairs?” Xiao Ya lowered her voice. “Remember I told you yesterday about our CEO partnering with that tech company? They’re here for a tour today. Something called Haku Network… I think they’re coming up to our floor soon. I’m going back to my desk. Let’s chat later.”
Jiang Yunong set her phone aside and began tidying up her desk, glancing sideways at the approaching tour group. She remembered that Haku Network was the company Luo Yunjian worked for.
And reality didn’t disappoint.
She spotted Luo Yunjian’s figure among the group.
