- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 6 - Just a Scapegoat After All
Since she had purchased so many items, the mall’s client manager personally drove the goods to Mi Yue’s home.
Before leaving, he eagerly handed her a business card. “Miss Mi, feel free to contact me anytime you have any needs. Our mall also offers in-home shopping services.”
Mi Yue politely accepted the card.
“Alright, thank you. I’ll reach out if I need anything in the future.”
After seeing him off, Mi Yue collapsed onto the bed and let out a heavy sigh.
So tired, but so happy.
A week ago, she wouldn’t have dared to imagine she’d have the energy to go shopping, back then, even going downstairs had been a struggle.
Though exhaustion was the same, this fatigue was different from the weariness of illness.
It had been a long time since she’d spent so many hours shopping, and she missed this feeling.
After resting for a while, Mi Yue packed some lightweight items into her suitcase and stored the rest in her system space.
The system’s initial storage capacity was only one cubic meter, but with her wealth, she had splurged to upgrade it to 200 cubic meters.
Even now, the things she had bought only filled a small corner of it.
Meanwhile, in a brightly lit CEO’s office…
A sharply dressed assistant respectfully reported to his boss.
“President Li, Miss Mi’s recent spending records show some unusual activity. Would you like to review them?”
Li Xiangyang pinched the bridge of his nose. “Unusual?”
“Yes. Over the past few days, her expenditures have reached as high as 5.9 million.” The assistant handed over the prepared documents.
Li Xiangyang flipped through the receipts, everything seemed reasonable, with nothing out of the ordinary.
“How has she been these past couple of days?”
“Miss Mi has been in good spirits. Today, she even went shopping and bought a lot of things.”
“Then there’s no need to intervene. Just have someone keep an eye on her health and report to me immediately if anything comes up.”
“Understood.”
After the assistant left, Li Xiangyang removed his glasses and leaned back in his chair. How he wished he could see her, yet he was afraid to. So, he could only keep tabs on her this way.
Mi Yue enjoyed another peaceful night’s sleep. When the Tiger Tribe began their migration, she once again donned the long fur robe distinctive of a “shaman.”
The robe covered her entire body, and with a thick breastband tightly wrapped underneath, it was nearly impossible to discern her femininity from the outside.
However, the weather was unbearably hot, so Mi Yue shortened the robe to knee-length.
She had no idea how strikingly eye-catching her slender, fair calves were among the crowd.
Xiu Ka frowned slightly at the glaringly pale skin.
The Tiger Tribe’s chief approached Mi Yue and asked loudly, “Shaman Yue, which direction should we migrate toward?”
Mi Yue raised a delicate hand and pointed south.
“Understood.” This time, the tribe chief didn’t question her.
With his command, the entire tribe of over a hundred people set off toward the south.
After walking southward all morning, the sun climbed to its zenith. Mi Yue, whose constitution was far from robust, felt her legs weaken, her steps unsteady.
But her “shaman” persona forbade her from speaking, so she gritted her teeth and persevered, swaying unsteadily until she reached the back of the procession.
Even the Tiger tribe’s female members couldn’t endure such a forced march, most were carried by their mates, fathers, or brothers.
The paths of the beast world were far from smooth, littered with rocks, pits, and small steep slopes.
As they climbed yet another slope, Mi Yue could hold on no longer. Her feet slipped, and she tumbled backward.
She closed her eyes tightly, bracing for the pain, but the next moment, she found herself caught in a warm embrace.
“Be careful.”
“Shaman Yue, are you alright?” Wu Er hurried over with concern.
Mi Yue stepped out of Xiu Ka’s arms, but as soon as she tried to stand on her own, a sharp pain shot through her foot, making her legs buckle.
(Mmm, that hurts. I sprained my ankle.)
The long trek had taken a toll on Mi Yue’s frail body. She clutched her chest, gasping for breath, her face turning deathly pale.
“Are you feeling unwell somewhere? You look terrible,” Wu Er asked worriedly.
Xiu Ka scanned her up and down before noticing her swollen ankle.
“He sprained his foot.”
“Then we should rest before continuing. Otherwise, the injury will only worsen,” Wu Er said anxiously.
Xiu Ka replied, “I’ll go talk to the chief.”
Upon learning about Mi Yue’s injury, the Tiger Tribe chief didn’t make things difficult and ordered everyone to take a break, eat something, and then resume the journey.
The tribes folk sighed in relief and began preparing food.
After resting for a while, Mi Yue’s racing heart gradually steadied. She sat on a folding stool, applying medicated oil to her swollen ankle.
Looks like I need to work harder to earn gratitude points and slowly patch up this broken body of mine.
“Thank you for the medicine. My injury is completely healed now. My grandfather asked me to give this to you.”
Mi Yue stared blankly at the lamb leg in front of her.
(For me to eat?)
Xiu Ka felt an inexplicable discomfort in his chest. He turned to leave but was stopped by a small, delicate hand gripping his sleeve.
His body stiffened as he stood frozen in place.
He could only watch as Mi Yue opened the black suitcase beside her and pulled out two large bundles.
She handed them to Xiu Ka, gesturing animatedly.
(This is a tent and a sleeping bag. You can use them at night.)
“For sleeping?”
The contents of the bundle looked soft and cozy, definitely comfortable to use.
But a rough male like him had no need for such nice things.
“Keep them for yourself. I don’t need them.”
Mi Yue pointed at the tent, then at her suitcase.
(I have my own. These were prepared for you. If you don’t take them, I’ll have to carry them myself, how exhausting!)
To avoid suspicion, she hadn’t stored the tent and sleeping bag in her system space but had dragged them along in her suitcase the whole way.
Now that she finally had the chance to give them to Xiu Ka, he didn’t even want them? No way! she wasn’t lugging these heavy things any further.
Seeing Mi Yue’s troubled expression, Xiu Ka finally relented and took the tent.
The moment he accepted it, Mi Yue visibly brightened.
Her eyes sparkled as she gazed at him expectantly.
Under her intense stare, Xiu Ka grew flustered. Mumbling a quick “thanks,” he fled in embarrassment.
After waiting for a while and receiving no gratitude points, Mi Yue felt disheartened.
The tent and sleeping bag were wasted.
To ease the tribesmen’s unease, the first day of migration wasn’t too strenuous.
By evening, the Tiger Tribe chief found a suitable clearing and announced they would set up camp there for the night.
Both males and females collapsed onto the ground, groaning about sore legs and feet.
Though the males were physically strong, carrying their families’ belongings all day had worn them out.
And for those who had carried their mates the entire way, their backs were so sore they could barely straighten up.
A young male stood beside the Tiger Tribe chief and whispered, “Father, we can’t go on like this.”
“Everyone is exhausted. If we encounter wild beasts now, it’ll be disastrous. I say we shouldn’t have migrated at all.” Resentment filled the young male’s eyes.
Didn’t Shaman Yue pray for rain? So why are we still migrating?
“Shaman Yue said the next three years will bring severe drought. The Rabbit Tribe has already perished, we can’t bear the blame for our own tribe’s destruction.”
“Gaiya, you’ll be chief one day too. You must shoulder the responsibility for the entire Tiger Tribe. When there are burdens you can’t carry alone, you must find others to share them.” The Tiger Tribe chief spoke with grave sincerity.
Gaiya’s face turned icy. “I understand, Father.”
He narrowed his eyes at Mi Yue, who sat leisurely under a distant tree sipping tea from an insulated cup, and sneered inwardly. Just a scapegoat, nothing more.
After moistening her throat with some water, Mi Yue began setting up her tent in the dim twilight.
She chose an easy-to-assemble design and had a simple shelter ready within half an hour.
Worried that Xiu Ka might struggle, she kindly went over to offer guidance.
Xiu Ka proved quick-witted, grasping the basics after a few attempts.
So, Mi Yue supervised while Xiu Ka took the lead in construction, with Grandpa Wu Er assisting from the side.
