- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 5 - Xiu Ka's Aloofness Was Nothing in Comparison
In the Tiger Tribe, on a vast open field far from the central area.
Although Mi Yue had visited the thatched hut the night before, seeing the crude structure clearly in daylight still gave her a small shock.
Families in the Tiger Tribe with slightly better conditions had already begun using stone walls, yet Xiu Ka was still living with mud-plastered ones.
Mi Yue walked to the door and gently knocked on the thin wooden panel.
“Who is it?”
The door opened, revealing a gaunt elderly male.
His amber eyes were clouded with age, but upon recognizing the visitor, he immediately moved to kneel in respect.
“Tiger Tribe male, Wu Er, pays homage to Shaman Yue.”
Mi Yue caught Wu Er just as he was about to kneel, stopping him.
She shook her head, signaling that such formalities weren’t necessary.
While she could accept bows from the Tiger Tribe’s chief and its members, having someone old enough to be her grandfather kneel before her was something she couldn’t stomach.
“Shaman Yue, are you here to see Xiu Ka?”
Mi Yue nodded.
“Xiu Ka has gone out hunting. Do you need something from him?”
Mi Yue shook her head, then nodded again.
Wu Er wasn’t sure how to respond.
Just then, a loud growl erupted from Wu Er’s stomach, shattering the silence in the hut.
Wu Er’s thin face flushed red. “Forgive my rudeness, Shaman Yue.”
Mi Yue pressed her lips together and pulled out a piece of cream bread from the leather pouch she carried.
Instantly, the rich aroma of butter filled the hut, and Wu Er’s nose twitched uncontrollably.
Realizing what he was doing, his face burned even hotter, and he hung his head in shame, thinking how unbecoming it was for someone his age to act so greedily.
A small, delicate hand patted his shoulder, and the fragrant food was placed right before him.
Mi Yue’s gaze was sincere.
“Is… is this for me?” Wu Er asked, stunned.
He had never seen such a sweet delicacy before, it looked like it was made from wheat flour and even contained sugar.
Wheat flour and sugar were luxuries reserved only for pregnant females or high-ranking tribe members.
An old, weak male like him, who should already be in the ground, had no right to eat such food.
“No, you should keep it for yourself. I don’t deserve this.”
Seeing the bitter smile on Wu Er’s face, Mi Yue felt a pang of discomfort.
“I… I can’t accept this.”
One insisted on giving, while the other didn’t dare to take.
A silent tug-of-war ensued between them.
“Grandfather, what are you two doing?”
Xiu Ka appeared at the doorway, carrying a scrawny mountain goat over his shoulder.
Spotting him, Mi Yue immediately tossed the bread aside and hurried over to Xiu Ka.
(What a stubborn old man! Trying to give him something to eat is like pulling teeth. I’ve got plenty of this stuff at home, just eat it without worry!)
Wu Er scrambled to catch the bread, terrified it might get damaged. “This…”
Hearing Mi Yue’s internal complaint, Xiu Ka’s temple twitched.
“Grandfather, Shaman Yue has more at home. Just take it.”
Wu Er still hesitated.
Mi Yue had no patience left for the back-and-forth. She pointed at the wounds on Xiu Ka’s back, then at the goat.
“My injuries are much better now. They don’t affect hunting.”
If the wounds had healed, why wasn’t his health bar full? Mi Yue bit her lip, frowning in thought as she silently consulted her system.
[Host, the health bar represents the target’s vitality. Aside from injuries or illness, mood and hunger also affect it.]
Mi Yue’s eyes lit up. She pulled out another piece of cream bread, unwrapped it, and held it right up to Xiu Ka’s mouth.
(Here, eat.)
Her puzzling behavior left Xiu Ka somewhat bewildered, but under her expectant gaze, he could only lower his head and take a bite of the bread.
The softness and sweetness of the bread instantly captivated his taste buds, it was a flavor he had never experienced before.
So sweet, so soft.
Only after watching Xiu Ka finish the entire piece of bread did Mi Yue feel at ease.
She secretly checked her phone and, sure enough, saw that Xiu Ka’s health bar was now full.
It really worked!!!
Feeding him was the key after all!!!
Mi Yue silently resolved to stock up on more food in her system space once she got back, so she could feed him anytime.
Seeing the radiant smile on Mi Yue’s face, Xiu Ka was momentarily dazed, Shaman Yue was truly beautiful.
Noticing his distraction, Mi Yue waved her hand in front of his eyes and then began gesturing.
(We need to prepare more food for the migration. Do you understand?) Not being able to speak made communication so difficult.
Xiu Ka felt something was off with his emotions. He actually found Shaman Yue’s bright, sparkling eyes and his animated efforts to express himself… somewhat adorable.
But the word “adorable” shouldn’t be used to describe Shaman Yue, a ‘male.’
“I’ll prepare more food for the migration. You can leave now.”
Mi Yue, who had been enthusiastically gesturing, froze at the sudden dismissal, her lively expression stiffening.
She lowered her head and left the thatched hut without a word.
Xiu Ka watched his retreating figure, his eyes narrowing slightly, an indescribable feeling settling heavily in his chest, uncomfortable and stifling.
Wu Er sighed as he looked at the bread in his hand. “Yue is a good child, but it’s a shame he was born with black hair, seen as an ill omen.”
“He was abandoned right after birth. If Shaman Jie hadn’t picked him up, he would’ve been eaten by the beasts in the forest long ago.”
“Try to look after him when you can. I don’t think the chief fears the Beast God much, so he probably doesn’t treat Yue well.”
Wu Er quietly advised his grandson.
Xiu Ka pressed his lips together and remained silent.
Meanwhile, after returning to her bamboo house, Mi Yue teleported back to the modern world. Sitting on her bed with her knees hugged to her chest, she felt a bit dejected.
It felt like her kindness had been thrown to the dogs.
[Received 10 gratitude points from Xiu Ka of the Tiger Tribe. Current gratitude points: 10.]
The unexpected joy from the 10 gratitude points quickly washed away her gloom.
“System, use the 10 gratitude points!”
Mi Yue felt her once weak body gradually gaining strength. Her eyes reddened, her health was truly improving.
Compared to her own well-being and longevity, Xiu Ka’s coldness meant nothing.
Wiping her tears, she applied some makeup, grabbed her favorite bag, and headed out to shop.
To earn more gratitude and virtue points, Mi Yue decided to migrate with the Tiger Tribe.
During the journey, she would subtly care for Xiu Ka, making sure he felt overwhelming gratitude whenever he thought of her, thus converting it into gratitude points.
With the migration and the severe drought, food, clothing, and shelter would be essential along the way.
Mi Yue went straight to the largest shopping mall in the city center, a multi-story complex housing hundreds of stores that could fulfill any customer’s needs.
Since it was a weekday, the mall wasn’t crowded. Mi Yue took the elevator directly to the fifth floor.
The fifth floor was the sports section, filled with everything from sportswear and fitness equipment to fishing gear and outdoor supplies.
Migration would definitely be on foot, so proper footwear was crucial. She bought herself several pairs of marathon-specific running shoes and also prepared a few pairs for Xiu Ka.
Since she didn’t know his shoe size, she bought every available size in men’s, surely one would fit him.
Next, she went to an outdoor supplies store to purchase a tent, sleeping bag, and water bladders. Finally, she headed to the supermarket on the basement level to stock up on plenty of food.
