- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 3 - How Could Someone Like Him Be Blessed by the Gods?
In his unconscious state, Xiu Ka instinctively opened his mouth at the sound of a voice, allowing Mi Yue to smoothly feed him the pill.
The bitter taste of the fever-reducing medicine slowly spread in his mouth, causing Xiu Ka’s sharp brows to furrow slightly.
As he was about to spit it out, a stream of sweet water gently flowed into his mouth.
In his dazed state, he faintly opened his eyes, catching a glimpse of a pair of gentle, watery eyes, a delicately beautiful face, and a faint floral fragrance.
But the high fever quickly pulled him back into unconsciousness.
(Well, he’s already passed out from the fever. If he can’t talk, then he can’t talk.)
Xiu Ka’s wounds were indeed from a beast’s claws, and they were deep. The surrounding flesh had already become inflamed, requiring disinfection before applying medicine.
Mi Yue wondered silently whether he needed rabies or tetanus shots, though, of course, she didn’t have any of those vaccines on hand.
(I should prepare some when I get back. After all, males in this beast world rely on hunting for survival, so getting clawed by wild animals is unavoidable.)
The searing pain of alcohol disinfecting his wounds jolted Xiu Ka back to consciousness. His long, narrow eyelashes fluttered slightly as his eyes slowly opened.
A pair of emerald-green eyes glowed faintly in the dimly lit thatched hut, though Mi Yue remained oblivious to this.
She was half-leaning over Xiu Ka’s body, her arms wrapped around his muscular waist from above his shoulders as she struggled to tie the bandage.
Just as her hands finally managed to secure the bandage, she was abruptly shoved away the next moment, her left wrist caught in an iron grip.
“What are you doing?” The male’s voice was cold as frost.
Mi Yue secretly rolled her eyes. (Hmph, what else would I be doing? Saving your life, you big idiot. Without me, you’d have burned up into a fool by now.)
Xiu Ka’s eyes filled with confusion as he instinctively scanned his surroundings. There was no one else in the hut, nor any unfamiliar scents.
Was it Shaman Yue speaking? But with his night vision, he hadn’t seen her lips move.
And the voice was clear and delicate, with a hint of coquettishness, undoubtedly that of a young female, completely unlike Shaman Yue’s usual stern and silent demeanor.
Xiu Ka’s grip unconsciously tightened, making Mi Yue gasp in pain.
She patted his hand.
(Hey, let go, you big dummy! You’re hurting me!)
Xiu Ka glanced at Mi Yue, then at the slender wrist in his grasp.
This time, he was certain he had heard Shaman Yue speaking, yet her lips hadn’t moved. Could it be… her thoughts?
And those thoughts sounded eerily similar to a young female’s voice.
His eyes swept over the person before him, slender, with no prominent Adam’s apple. Perhaps a weak body or underdeveloped vocal cords?
After all, young male cubs’ voices aren’t much different from young female cubs’ in their early years.
Xiu Ka quickly accepted the fact that he could hear the shaman’s thoughts.
He stared at the white bandage in Mi Yue’s hands and asked, “What is this?”
Bound by the shaman’s mute persona, Mi Yue could only gesture wildly in explanation.
(It’s a bandage for dressing your wounds. Covering them keeps dirt out and helps them heal faster.)
“Did Shaman Jie teach you this?”
Shaman Jie was the previous shaman of the Tiger Tribe, the one who had raised Yue from childhood and passed the shaman’s mantle to her before his death.
Mi Yue didn’t bother explaining further and simply nodded in agreement.
Now that he understood, Xiu Ka became more compliant, obediently playing the role of a cooperative patient as Mi Yue finished bandaging him.
Mi Yue wrapped the bandage around his waist, her head just reaching the level of Xiu Ka’s chest due to their height difference.
In the beast world, males rarely wore clothing on their upper bodies. Mi Yue’s scorching breath sprayed against his firm muscles, sending an unfamiliar sensation through Xiu Ka.
His breath hitched, his muscles involuntarily tensing as his posture stiffened, instinctively leaning backward.
Mi Yue, too, had rarely been this physically close to a man. Sensing Xiu Ka’s reaction, she inexplicably grew nervous but forced herself to finish the bandaging.
As she reached out, Xiu Ka leaned further back, widening the gap between them.
Just as Mi Yue was about to grumble inwardly, her body suddenly lost balance.
(Oh no, I’m out of strength.)
The next moment, with no support, she tumbled straight into Xiu Ka’s arms, her delicate cheek colliding with his solid pectorals.
Xiu Ka was equally startled, frozen in place as a faint floral scent aggressively invaded his senses, making his head spin.
He bit the tip of his tongue to regain clarity and reached out to push the person in his arms away, only to feel smooth, soft skin beneath his fingers.
Disbelieving, he secretly gave it another touch.
Indeed, the texture was nothing like the rough skin of males who spent their days hunting outdoors.
Mi Yue: (Hey, idiot, where are you touching?)
Angry, she sat up and threw the remaining gauze into the male’s lap, her obsidian-like eyes wide with indignation.
Leaning against the earthen wall, she panted heavily, her petite face soon glistening with sweat.
Mi Yue mocked herself inwardly, (Hah, this useless body of mine, everything’s a struggle.)
The dim lighting conveniently hid Xiu Ka’s flushed ears. Aware that his earlier reaction had been excessive and inappropriate, he lowered his voice in apology.
“Sorry, I-I didn’t mean to.”
Noticing Mi Yue’s unusual state, he asked, “Shaman Yue, are you feeling unwell?”
But the petite figure across from him only crossed her arms and snorted in displeasure.
Xiu Ka grew anxious. He tried to move but winced as the motion tugged at his wound.
“Tsk!”
Mi Yue sighed helplessly as she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.
She waved a hand to signal Xiu Ka to stay still, then pulled out fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory pills, gesturing how to take them.
Her fingers moved so swiftly that Xiu Ka felt dizzy. (The red ones are for fever, the blue ones are anti-inflammatory. I went through so much trouble to save you, don’t die by skipping your meds.)
Xiu Ka: “…”
Pressing his lips together, he tightened his grip on the medicine bottle. “Alright. Thank you, Shaman Yue.”
[Received 10 gratitude points from tiger male Xiu Ka. Current gratitude points: 10.]
[Received 10 virtue points from tiger male Xiu Ka. Current virtue points: 20.]
Hearing the system’s announcement, Mi Yue felt everything tonight had been worth it. A faint surge of strength returned to her body.
Her earlier irritation was completely dissolved by the gratitude and virtue points, and even her gaze toward Xiu Ka sparkled with delight.
“Shaman Yue, what’s wrong?”
Mi Yue shook her head, smiling as she reached out to touch Xiu Ka’s broad forehead.
Xiu Ka hadn’t expected her to suddenly touch him. The instinct to dodge was stifled by what had happened earlier, forcing him to endure the contact.
Then he felt something warm and soft press against his forehead. Raising his eyes, he could clearly see the blue veins on the other person’s wrist.
He was so pale, paler than any male he had ever seen, even paler than some of the smaller females.
(Huff, the fever’s gone. He probably won’t die now.)
Xiu Ka: “…”
Why was the shaman Yue so fixated on whether he would live or die?
Before, Shaman Yue had never interacted with anyone, always keeping to himself. Why was he acting so strangely today, caring for him and even coming in the middle of the night to treat his wounds?
Perhaps it was because he had given Shaman Yue water earlier, and the other felt grateful. But in truth, Shaman Yue didn’t know that it was his grandfather who had told him to do it.
Lowering his hand, he stared at the two white medicine bottles in his palm, the corner of his lips curling into a faint, mocking smile.
Someone like him… how could he ever receive the favor of the gods?
