Chi Xinglan is a Beta who has followed Liang Xiao for five years. Everyone said that Liang Xiao would eventually choose an Omega from a family of equal standing and kick him to the curb. Even Chi Xinglan believed this.
He did his job dutifully, always prepared for the day Liang Xiao would sweep him out the door. He had long since grown numb to the scent of perfume on Liang Xiao’s clothes and the gossip in the tabloids.
Then, rumors exploded: a rising Omega star in the entertainment industry was pregnant with Liang Xiao’s child. The two had recently been photographed entering the same hotel. Rumor had it they were family friends, both families were thrilled, and a wedding was already in the works.
That night, Chi Xinglan packed his bags. He left behind a medical report from the hospital with a thoughtful note: “Liang Xiao, I’ve scheduled my surgery for this afternoon. Consider this an early wedding gift.”
Without hesitation, he left the “love nest” he shared with Liang Xiao.
What he didn’t know was that Liang Xiao was going out of his mind trying to find him. When Liang Xiao finally tracked him down, Chi Xinglan was at the hospital for a prenatal check-up.
Doctor: “Where is the baby’s father?” Chi Xinglan: “Dead. I buried him myself.” Liang Xiao (standing outside the door): [Face turns black]
“Chi Xinglan, I don’t care about social norms or how my rut affects me. From beginning to end, the only one I’ve ever wanted is you.”
