Chapter 36: Becoming the True Master of Her Body
“…One can achieve pleasure through suffocation…”
Liu Ran thought dazedly of a sentence she had once seen in a domestication manual.
She realized belatedly that her rut had arrived. Fear instantly climbed from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, leaving her body cold with dread.
She was in the packed Imperial Theater with no suppressants, no one to help her, and nowhere to hide.
Leaning against a Gothic stained-glass window, Liu Ran swallowed hard, repeatedly tightening her collar until the lack of oxygen made her head swim and her vision blur.
She hurried to the restroom, ducked into the furthest stall, and locked the door. She wiped the cold sweat from her forehead it was sticky and chilled, yet her body was shamefully burning. Her blood felt as if it had been set on fire. Leaning against the wall with one hand for support, she panted heavily, while the other hand rolled up the hem of her shirt for her to bite down on. She let go, re-tightened the collar, the corners of her eyes flushing a damp red.
I can survive this, Liu Ran thought chaotically. Back when I didn’t have suppressants, this is how I did it—holding myself tight, biting my clothes, and slowly enduring until it passed.
As her breath was snatched away, the image that surfaced before her eyes was Ming Siyu’s.
Those cold, semi-rimless gold glasses; eyes like black jade beneath a frozen spring, devoid of emotion, making one shiver uncontrollably.
If only… if only the one tightening this collar right now were Ming Siyu…
Whimper…
Liu Ran shook her head frantically. What am I thinking!
She shifted restlessly, pressing her legs together and closing her eyes in agony, letting tears slide from the corners of her eyes. She wanted this torture of the rut to end as soon as possible.
Someone else entered the restroom. Once the person finished and went to wash their hands, Liu Ran managed a strained plea: “Hello… can you help me buy an Alpha suppressant?”
“I’m sorry, I’m an Omega… you, you should wait for someone else! Or I can call the theater medical staff for you!”
The voice sounded very young; having said that, the person fled in a panic.
Enduring the first wave of heat in a rut on one’s own would take at least two hours. By then, Giselle would be over, and Ming Siyu would be looking for her to go home. But in this state, she couldn’t see anyone. If she accidentally released pheromones, it would cause a local disaster, especially for un-marked Omegas.
This rut had come on fast and fierce, catching her completely off guard.
Liu Ran tremblingly took out her phone. At this moment, the person she hated most, Ming Siyu, became the only person who could help her. She dialed the WeChat call for “Dear Master.”
She didn’t want Ming Siyu to see her in such a pathetic state. Yet, only Ming Siyu could.
The call connected after a few seconds.
“Not back yet?” Ming Siyu’s voice was lowered, thick with displeasure.
Liu Ran let go of her shirt hem, trying her best to restrain her panting. “Help me…”
“Where are you?”
“In the theater restroom… rut…”
Before she could finish, the call was disconnected. Liu Ran stared blankly at the phone as a teardrop fell from her chin onto the screen.
Would Ming Siyu actually come to help her?
Just as she hated Ming Siyu, Ming Siyu likely hated her back. What could be more satisfying than seeing someone you hate in an embarrassing mess? Would Ming Siyu hide and laugh at her, or come to her face to mock her, calling her a beast that couldn’t control its lust?
Yet, even if Ming Siyu took the chance to ridicule her, Liu Ran somehow believed she would handle it. Before any thorny problem, Ming Siyu was always at ease.
Liu Ran panted arduously. Her breath was scalding; she felt like she was going to spontaneously combust. The ache in her canines made her instinctively want to bite into an Omega’s soft, fragrant gland—to grind down, break the skin, and pour in her pheromones until the Omega was soaked inside and out with the bitter yet sweet scent of bitter orange.
She leaned against the wall to stand up. With no one around, she wanted to wash her face with cold water to clear her head. Just as her hand touched the stall lock, she heard the rapid, steady click of high heels.
Liu Ran knew instantly: Ming Siyu was here.
Subconsciously, she felt a wave of relief, followed by shame, tension, fear, and a tiny, uncontrollable spark of expectation.
Ming Siyu didn’t hesitate. She walked straight to the last stall and stood outside the door. “Liu Ran, I know you’re in there. Open the door and come out.”
Liu Ran feebly unlocked the door. The moment it opened, she raised a hand to cover her face.
As expected, Ming Siyu opened with a sneer: “Liu Ran, how old are you? Do you not even know when your own rut is? An Alpha who shamelessly releases pheromones in public can be jailed for creating a public disturbance. Do you want to commit a crime and force my company to employ someone with a criminal record?”
Liu Ran spoke incoherently: “I’m… it hurts…”
Perhaps because she had undergone genetic modification shortly after secondary differentiation, her ruts were unstable. But usually, there were signs. This time, there were none. Like a summer storm, it had just arrived.
Ming Siyu pulled her hand down.
Liu Ran kept her head low, her eyes—brimming with lust—not daring to meet Ming Siyu’s. She moaned in a low, husky voice, “Uncomfortable…”
“I know it hurts.” Her chin was tilted up. Slender, soft fingers moved from her chin upward, stroking her flushed cheek before comfortingly pinching her earlobe. “Be a good girl. Don’t release your pheromones, or I’ll leave you here. If I leave, you can wait to be watched by a thousand audience members, filmed, and uploaded to the internet to be shamed for the rest of your life. Understood?”
Liu Ran nodded dizzily. Thinking was difficult; she could only grasp that if she released her pheromones now, the consequences would be unbearable.
Ming Siyu went to the sink, wet her hands, and rubbed them over Liu Ran’s face to cool her down. She lifted one of Liu Ran’s arms, signaling her to bite her own sleeve to keep quiet, and then took her other hand to lead her out.
Just as they reached the hallway, the play ended. The audience began to stream out, many heading for the restrooms.
Ming Siyu made a split-second decision: “The back exit.”
She took off her coat and draped it over Liu Ran’s head. Liu Ran followed Ming Siyu blindly. Under the coat, only her eyes were visible. She didn’t look at the path; she just stared at the snowy-white neck exposed beneath Ming Siyu’s bun, involuntarily swallowing her saliva.
No. Liu Ran looked away.
Even in a rut, she couldn’t have such thoughts. Ming Siyu would be with Jian Huaijin; she would only be marked by Jian Huaijin or someone like her. She must not let any thought of intimacy with Ming Siyu grow. Once the boundary between an Alpha and an Omega is broken, not only is there a psychological bond, but the physiological dependency becomes inseparable.
It must be the rut causing these strange thoughts, she told herself.
At the back door, Ming Siyu spoke briefly to the theater staff. They took a private elevator directly to the underground parking lot. Ming Siyu found her SVIP spot, opened the car door, and told the driver to go to the nearest pharmacy to buy an Alpha suppressant, then take a taxi home after delivering it.
She tossed Liu Ran into the back seat and threw a pack of disinfectant wipes at her. “Wipe your own face.”
Liu Ran’s fingers were shaking; she couldn’t open the packaging. Ming Siyu, losing patience, snatched it away, ripped it open, and slapped a wipe onto Liu Ran’s forehead. “Aren’t Alphas supposed to be the strongest of the ABO genders? Are they all as useless as you during a rut?”
She met those red-rimmed, misty eyes. Ming Siyu raised an eyebrow, tilting her head with a hint of disbelief. “Liu Ran, do you want to mark me?”
Having her thoughts pierced, Liu Ran lowered her head in shame. “No.”
Liu Ran, you’re so pathetic, she thought. Ming Siyu treats you like a dog, and you still want to mark her? Rut pheromones must rot the brain.
Ming Siyu showed a look of disgust. “Mark me? You’re not worthy.”
The undisguised loathing in her eyes was like a sharp blade stabbing into Liu Ran, forcing her to clear her head. Yes, they hated each other. She wasn’t allowed to have fantasies about Ming Siyu, and Ming Siyu wouldn’t allow it either.
But in her distress, a trace of pheromone escaped.
Though it was only a wisp, S-class Alpha pheromones could easily stir desire. If an Alpha intended it, they could even force an Omega into heat. Liu Ran didn’t dare, and she didn’t want to.
Ming Siyu sensed the faint scent of bitter orange in the car and glared at her. Liu Ran curled up on the back seat, burying her face in her knees like an ostrich hiding from a mistake.
Gradually, Ming Siyu felt something was wrong. She grabbed Liu Ran’s wolf ears and pulled her face out from her knees.
Liu Ran’s face was streaked with wet tears, her lips bitten hard. Ming Siyu reached out her finger to pry them open, but Liu Ran held on tight. When Ming Siyu pulled her hand back, there was a streak of bright red blood on her fingertip.
Liu Ran had bitten her lip until it bled.
“Stop biting! If you keep biting, I’m docking your pay.”
A faint pink flush began to creep over Ming Siyu’s own cheeks. Liu Ran’s pheromones were affecting her after all, quickening her breath. Something seemed to be calling out from within her, wanting to respond to the bitter orange scent.
After a great deal of effort, she rescued Liu Ran’s lower lip from her teeth. Ming Siyu panted slightly, a layer of sweat breaking out on her skin. Liu Ran had let her tail out from her clothes at some point, clutching it in her arms; the blood from her lip stained the silver-gray fur. She looked pitiful.
It was the posture of a small animal lacking security. Liu Ran looked like she was suffering so much she might die.
Ming Siyu’s heart softened. She lowered her voice: “Do you want some of my pheromones?”
Her pheromones smelled like Hepatica (Snow-cleaving grass). S-class Omega pheromones provided an incredibly effective soothing effect for any Alpha in a rut.
Hearing this, Liu Ran shook her head frantically, even fumbling for the car door to get out, but it was locked. “No, I don’t want your pheromones…”
Ming Siyu’s expression darkened instantly. Who gave Liu Ran the right to refuse her?
Just as she was about to grab the tail, the driver ran back with the suppressant and handed it through the window.
Ming Siyu usually took her revenge on the spot. She grabbed Liu Ran by the neck, roughly pulled back her collar, and plunged the needle into the swollen, burning gland.
Liu Ran shivered. “Mmm, it hurts…”
“Endure it. This is how suppressants are.”
As they waited for the medicine to take effect, Ming Siyu turned the AC to the lowest setting. Liu Ran, drenched in sweat, sneezed several times. Her head was foggy from the heat. She whispered, “Thank you.”
But Ming Siyu’s desire to toy with her had returned. She looked at the collar beneath Liu Ran’s open shirt; the neck showed marks where the girl had pulled the collar too tight earlier. Ming Siyu licked her lips. “Anyone can say ‘thank you.’ I want a practical thanks.”
Liu Ran asked tiredly, “What do you want?”
Playing with her ears? Her tail? None of it mattered to her now. She was exhausted. The suppressant was currently battling the surging lust in her body, causing pain mixed with an unspeakable longing.
Ming Siyu gave an unexpected answer: “I want you to tell me the truth for the next ten minutes.”
Liu Ran didn’t understand. She gripped her clothes nervously.
Ming Siyu leaned over, supporting herself with one hand while the other touched Liu Ran’s damp face. She reached behind, her fingers entering the tail fur, scratching the base of the tail heavily with her fingertips.
How could a body in the throes of a rut handle such stimulation? Liu Ran stiffened, her senses concentrating on the base of her tail as she involuntarily arched her back. Her breathing deepened.
“Don’t touch my tail…”
Ming Siyu ignored her. Such a weak plea sounded like an invitation to her. “Ranran, are you thinking about how to leave me, or are you thinking about me? Tell the truth.”
Their noses touched. Ming Siyu suppressed her own erratic heartbeat and watched the girl’s misty, tearful eyes, nuzzling her nose gently. To stop her, Liu Ran reached back to rescue her tail, her hand clasping with Ming Siyu’s.
Liu Ran trembled, looking into the dark eyes behind the glasses—eyes that were slightly red but rationally crazed. She hated this woman, but at this moment, compared to escaping, she felt an uncontrollable anticipation for what would happen if she stayed. She hated herself; she wanted to pour a bucket of ice water over her head and slap herself to make that damn expectation go away.
Yet, she opened her moist, red lips and sniffed piteously.
“You.”
Ming Siyu didn’t like repeating herself, but she had to admit some things required repetition to get the desired result. On the third time asking the same question, she finally heard the answer she wanted.
“Good job, Ranran.” A smile curled on her lips. Her hand left the tail and began to stroke the girl’s abdomen through the fabric. “One more question: Is it just a little wet, or is it… very wet? Only a child who tells the truth is a good child.”
Liu Ran lowered her eyes, turning her head away. Her answer was as quiet as a mosquito’s hum: “Neither.”
“It’s already… completely soaked…”
A moment of silence. Only their breathing filled the car.
“Good girl,” Ming Siyu said. “Good girls get a reward. Do you want me to help you, or should I teach you?”
Ming Siyu sat back leisurely, watching the Little Wolf slumped to the side, covering her face and shivering. She tossed a pack of tissues over.
“Wipe it yourself.”
The Little Wolf in rut was incredibly sensitive. Without even using pheromones, just teaching her how to use her own hands was enough to finish her quickly. The bitter orange scent leaked out again, timidly enticing the Omega’s pheromones.
Stubborn mouth, but an honest body. Ming Siyu thought. Next time, I might try just playing with the tail.
Ming Siyu enjoyed the feeling of complete control including controlling Liu Ran’s desire. Watching Liu Ran make sounds as if she were dripping with moisture under her guidance, seeing her expression change from shock to shame, to resentment, then to passion, and finally to a breathless, dazed state…
The pleasure she derived from this was greater than making a hundred million yuan.
Ming Siyu draped her coat over Liu Ran and prepared to switch to the driver’s seat.
Liu Ran’s mind was blank. The effect of the suppressant was finally taking hold, and she was clear-headed now—so clear that she didn’t dare think about what had just happened. If she thought about it for a second, she’d want to jump out of the car and end it.
When Ming Siyu had asked “help you or teach you,” she hadn’t understood. Choosing the latter out of caution, she only realized the meaning of “teach you” when Ming Siyu led her hand to touch the dampness.
For the first time, she had truly explored her own body, right in front of Ming Siyu, following Ming Siyu’s commands. Liu Ran realized in a daze that during that blurred time, Ming Siyu hadn’t physically touched her in a significant way, yet she had become the true Master of her body.
Ming Siyu’s cuff was even stained with a bit of moisture.
Seeing Ming Siyu about to leave the car, Liu Ran felt a sharp pain in her heart, like a thread being pulled. Without thinking, she lunged forward, ignoring her disheveled clothes, and hugged the slender Omega from behind. Guided by instinct, her lips pressed against the skin of the Omega’s nape.
Beneath the collar of the cream silk shirt, that snowy-white skin radiated a temperature slightly higher than normal. Before she could seek out the Omega’s pheromones, her stomach was hit by a heavy elbow.
“Ugh…” Liu Ran doubled over, clutching her stomach.
Ming Siyu frowned, disgustedly straightening her wrinkled collar. “Liu Ran, I taught you because you looked pitiful—guiding you to relieve yourself. It wasn’t an invitation to be my Alpha. Don’t think too much of yourself—you have no right to mark me.”
Liu Ran whispered, “I… I wasn’t trying to mark you.”
She’d have to be insane to want to mark Ming Siyu. That move was a purely physiological impulse; she regretted it a second later.
Ming Siyu snorted, standing outside the car and looking down at her. “Fix your clothes.”
She slammed the car door shut.
By the time they got home, it was almost midnight. Washing up in the bathroom, Liu Ran looked at her discarded clothes they were a wreck, wet in many places and wrinkled beyond repair. Thinking of how expensive they were, she almost cried. At least Ming Siyu paid for them.
But seeing the clothes inevitably brought back everything that happened in the car. She had been like a dog controlled by desire, losing her ability to think, completely led by Ming Siyu’s commands—like a fisherman following a siren’s song for a moment of pleasure.
What did I look like in Ming Siyu’s eyes then? She must have been both disgusted and triumphant.
Liu Ran punched the wall in regret. She had shamelessly told her it was “completely soaked”—God, just blow everything up! She must have been possessed by a demon!
She tossed and turned all night. On the sofa, she curled herself into a ball, terrified until dawn. Facing Ming Siyu again, she was too ashamed to lift her head.
She also felt a bit of resentment. Ming Siyu knew she was in a rut; she could have just thrown her a suppressant and been done with it. Instead, she stayed so close in the car and lured her into releasing her desire.
Ming Siyu glanced at her casually. During breakfast, she suddenly said: “Did you learn how?”
Liu Ran choked on her porridge, coughing until her face was red.
As she coughed her heart out, Ming Siyu added nonchalantly: “If you didn’t, I can teach you again.”
“Cough no, it’s fine. Really.”
Qi Zhen watched them curiously, not understanding the riddles they were speaking.
Jian Huaijin showed extreme apology for standing her up. She obtained Ming Siyu’s address and personally delivered an invitation, asking Ming Siyu to attend the wedding of the Mayor’s daughter. It was said to be a low-profile wedding, inviting only political figures and a tiny number of business elites a great chance to build government connections. Jian Huaijin’s aunt was a leader in the finance department, which is how she got the connection.
There would also be a charity auction after the wedding.
Ming Siyu pondered for a moment and accepted the apology. She was currently sunbathing with a magazine over her face, so she sent Liu Ran to get the invitation.
Jian Huaijin’s hair was neatly styled in a low ponytail with a dark green silk scarf. Her sunglasses were tucked into her slightly open collar. Seeing Liu Ran, she asked calmly, “Siyu sent you?”
After last night, seeing Jian Huaijin felt like a mistress seeing the legal wife; Liu Ran felt unexplainably guilty. Although Ming Siyu and Jian Huaijin were only in the “getting to know each other” phase, Liu Ran subconsciously viewed them as a couple. Last night, she had used the tickets Jian Huaijin gave to take her spot and go into heat right in front of Ming Siyu…
Liu Ran feigned composure. “Yes.”
Jian Huaijin looked at her steadily and handed over the invitation. “What is your relationship with Siyu?”
The question was as blunt as could be. Liu Ran took it, her hands and feet cold. Her relationship with Ming Siyu was too abnormal; even Jian Huaijin, whom she had only met a few times, could see it. She didn’t dare meet her eyes, licking her dry lips. “Director Jian, I’m just Director Ming’s secretary…”
“Just?”
Liu Ran bit her lip. “Just.”
Jian Huaijin’s expression didn’t change. she tapped her diamond watch, her voice steady: “It’s 9:00 AM on a Saturday morning. I’m just curious why a secretary would be at Siyu’s home at this time. Do you live together?”
Liu Ran said with difficulty, “I haven’t found a place yet. I’m staying here temporarily.”
“I see. Secretary Liu, please tell Siyu that I am very sorry for last night.” Jian Huaijin paused, then continued: “Also, I am quite conservative. I only accept one-on-one relationships. If Siyu agrees to start a relationship with me, I hope it is built on that foundation.”
