Becoming the Yandere Omega's Fluffy Pet - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: “Only I Get to Kiss You.”
“If only I had known.” Liu Ran was on the verge of tears. She really shouldn’t have chosen a horror movie. Now, not only was her afternoon nap gone, but her spirit had also been violently battered by the movie’s jump scares, only to be topped off by a wave of Ming Siyu’s ridicule. Total damage dealt: zero; self-inflicted damage: ten thousand.
Over the next hour or so, Liu Ran checked her phone every two minutes. Finally, at 1:50 PM, she felt a surge of relief.
“Time’s up. We need to head to the construction site!”
After being tormented by the movie, Liu Ran’s wolf ears were drooping and frizzy. She hurriedly shoved them back under her hat.
They arrived at the site around 2:30 PM. The group donned hard hats and, led by the project manager, entered the grounds. During the earlier negotiation stages, Ming Siyu had already briefed Jian Huaijin on the specifics. Technicians had reviewed the blueprints, detail drawings, and electrical layouts.
Today was purely to inspect the surrounding environment and the specific modifications needed. Engineers and contractors discussed how to renovate the factory to meet Jian Pharmaceuticals’ production line requirements with minimal time and cost.
Beside the large factory buildings sat a newly completed ten-story office building with over 600 square meters per floor. Secretary Lin suggested going up for a view. Nearby sat an artificial lake with exceptionally clear water that sparkled in the sunlight, bordered by a vast lawn. There were no skyscrapers in the vicinity; the environment was pleasant, and the air was fresh.
As the construction director and project manager explained the site conditions, Ming Siyu listened, exchanging problems and solutions with them. Liu Ran only half-understood the technical talk, but she sensed it was useful and quietly took notes on her phone.
Jian Huaijin chimed in occasionally with questions. She didn’t have much investment experience either, so Ming Siyu’s answers were simple and layman-friendly, allowing Liu Ran to follow along quite well.
It turned out Ming Siyu’s vision for this land wasn’t just a single factory. She had a long-term strategic plan. The environment was good, transportation was convenient, and it was close to a regional logistics hub. Being backed by City A meant lower logistics costs and no risk of cross-contamination. With an import-export port just a few hundred kilometers away, this single enterprise could eventually grow into a massive industrial park.
Listening to this, Liu Ran actually felt like investing herself. Sadly, she was broke.
On the tenth floor, they looked west as Secretary Lin suggested. Indeed, a crystal-clear lake sat there, shimmering like a mirror embedded in green velvet. Liu Ran squinted, cupping her hands like binoculars, and even spotted a few small sailboats.
Jian Huaici held her hard hat with one hand and tugged Jian Huaijin’s sleeve with the other, her face flushed from the sun. “Sister, let’s go play by the lake, okay?”
Jian Huaijin doted on her and agreed immediately, placing her hand behind Huaici’s waist keeping an inch of space between her arm and the girl’s clothes subtly protecting her from a potential fall.
Watching them, Liu Ran felt a pang of envy. It had been so long since she had felt the warmth of family.
“Secretary Liu, why don’t you come with us?” Jian Huaici suddenly invited.
Caught off guard, Liu Ran jumped slightly and scrambled for an excuse. “I have to head back to City A with Director Ming. Have a great time, Director Jian.”
Jian Huaijin asked, “What year were you born, Secretary Liu?”
After Liu Ran answered, Jian Huaijin nodded thoughtfully. “So you’re only a year apart from Xiaoci. No wonder she wants you to join. People of the same age always have more to talk about. Xiaoci just returned to City A and isn’t familiar with the area yet; she hasn’t had time to make friends her age.”
“If you’re willing, Secretary Liu, I can ask Siyu for you. I’m sure she’d give me the face to let you accompany Xiaoci for a few days.”
Jian Huaijin’s voice was gentle but firm, polite yet carrying a hint of a command. She called her “Siyu” instead of Director Ming—a name that wasn’t overly distant but not intimate either. Liu Ran guessed they had a history, though not as close as Ming Siyu and He Qiange.
Liu Ran truly wanted to go play freely, but her intuition told her that agreeing would only lead to trouble.
She declined again, citing company business. The Jian sisters didn’t push. It was their first meeting, after all; they weren’t close, and they didn’t strictly need her company.
Liu Ran turned to see Ming Siyu and Secretary Lin walking toward the other side of the floor and hurried to follow. Recalling her conversation with the sisters, she felt a bit dejected. She had used “work” as an excuse, but she knew that today was her penultimate day on the job.
In truth, she liked following Ming Siyu to sites like this. Ming Siyu’s attention wouldn’t be solely on her, allowing her to breathe in small pockets of freedom. She could wear a hat and long sleeves; nobody but Ming Siyu knew about the silver-grey wolf ears hidden beneath. People’s stares were usually directed at her suspected relationship with the boss rather than her non-human anatomy. The former was much easier to bear.
Plus, she was learning about project management. To Liu Ran, this was both novel and touching it felt like a prisoner slowly reintegrating into society after serving a long sentence.
Secretary Lin handed out water. Liu Ran took one and was about to open it when Ming Siyu handed over her own unopened bottle.
Does she want me to open it? Or hold it? Is it for me?
After the “shrimp tail incident” at lunch, Liu Ran didn’t dare guess Ming Siyu’s intentions anymore.
Not until Ming Siyu commanded: “Open it.”
Only then did Liu Ran hand over the water she had already opened but hadn’t sipped yet, taking Ming Siyu’s unopened bottle in return. Ming Siyu tilted her head back, took a few swallows, capped it, tossed it back to Liu Ran, and continued her inspection.
They finished around 5:00 PM. The Jian sisters planned to stroll by the lake and go boating, but Ming Siyu had no desire to linger. She had shown Huaijin what needed to be seen; it was time to leave.
Before they left, Jian Huaijin formally proposed that Jian Huaici take over the project cooperation. “I have a project at the research lab lately and won’t have the energy to follow the site progress. Huaici is my sister; she just finished her college entrance exams and is free for the summer. I want to take this chance to train her, so I’ll let her handle the follow-ups. She lacks experience, so I hope Director Ming will provide guidance and patience. I’ll leave my technicians here for you.”
In front of their subordinates, Huaijin used the formal “Director Ming,” keeping it strictly business. She spoke euphemistically, but she was stating what both sides already knew, purely to ensure the project managers took Jian Huaici seriously. Ming Siyu agreed, promising to take good care of her.
Jian Huaici suggested adding their WeChat to facilitate work discussions. She scanned Secretary Lin, the construction director… and finally arrived in front of Liu Ran.
Liu Ran hesitated. It was hard to tell Jian Huaici to her face that she was actually resigning tomorrow. Especially with Jian Huaici looking at her with such expectation.
As Liu Ran wavered and began to pull out her QR code, Ming Siyu suddenly cut in. “No need to add Secretary Liu.”
Everyone turned to look. The emotions behind Ming Siyu’s glasses were unreadable.
Jian Huaici smiled. “Why is that?”
Liu Ran had a premonition that Ming Siyu was about to say something humiliating. Ignoring the awkwardness, she cut in before her boss: “Actually, I’m resigning tomorr—”
“Secretary Liu is my private secretary; she doesn’t handle project engineering. Adding too many people unrelated to her core duties will only distract her from her work.”
They spoke simultaneously. Ming Siyu paused, then offered Jian Huaici a polite out: “Huaici, a secretary needs total focus during work. Please understand.”
Buzz.
A loud ringing filled Liu Ran’s ears. She stared at Ming Siyu in shock. The harmony she had carefully maintained hadn’t lasted long; it shattered under the golden sunset. Everything felt pale and powerless.
Ming Siyu’s words were subtle, yet clear enough for everyone present to understand: Liu Ran was Ming Siyu’s property. She had to obey. The “Secretary” title was just a fig leaf. Since Liu Ran was an Alpha and Jian Huaici was an Omega, Ming Siyu was effectively marking her territory.
Jian Huaici’s smile stiffened for a second before she recovered. “My apologies, Director Ming. I thought Secretary Liu was on this project too and thought we could bond as peers. But since she doesn’t handle this area, there’s no need for me to add her.”
Huaici’s lighthearted tone thawed the sudden drop in temperature.
The driver opened the car door. Ming Siyu sat inside and waited, noticing Liu Ran still standing there with her phone, staring straight ahead. She urged calmly, “Get in the car, Secretary Liu.”
Liu Ran glanced at Jian Huaici and walked silently to the car.
Ming Siyu was like a dangerous undercurrent beneath a sheet of ice. And Liu Ran had no choice but to step into it.
Once inside, Liu Ran sat pressed against the far door, as far from Ming Siyu as possible, staring out the window to vent her silent rage. The car space was small; with the driver, there were only three people, making everyone’s presence feel magnified. Liu Ran was sure Ming Siyu could feel her anger. She clenched her fists, waiting for Ming Siyu to speak so she could lash out. Usually, at times like this, Ming Siyu would take the opportunity to stomp on her dignity again.
Instead, ten minutes passed without Ming Siyu saying a word. The silence was terrifying.
Liu Ran couldn’t help but peek back. She saw Ming Siyu replying to a work email.
She didn’t even care. Ming Siyu didn’t even know she was angry; she didn’t think her words were hurtful at all. Then again, Ming Siyu never saw her as a person, only as a puppy. She wouldn’t consider if a puppy’s feelings were hurt. Perhaps Ming Siyu even thought she should be proud—like a dog being paraded by its owner, wagging its tail when the owner says, “This is mine.”
She had long since stopped expecting anything from Ming Siyu. Yet, because of the tiny spark of kindness Ming Siyu had shown at lunch like a breeze over dying embers—oxygen had been brought in, reigniting a small, bright flame.
Liu Ran hated herself for this. Every time she resolved to hate Ming Siyu, a random gesture from the woman made that hate incomplete.
Sensing Liu Ran’s gaze, Ming Siyu didn’t stop typing. “Say what you want to say.”
“Why did you have to say that in front of everyone?” As soon as she spoke, Liu Ran couldn’t control the sob in her throat. It made her anger look like mere grievance.
She pinched her thigh, not wanting to cry in front of Ming Siyu. It made her already weak presence look even smaller. But the more she tried to stop, the faster the tears welled up. She blinked rapidly.
Ming Siyu finally finished her email and glanced at Liu Ran.
“Was I wrong, Liu Ran?” “Do you manage the project engineering?” “Were you hired as a secretary through regular channels? Do you have the same competence as Secretary Wen?” “You are easily influenced by the outside world. If someone texts you during work, would you resist looking until the task is done?”
Ming Siyu rattled off several questions in a row. Liu Ran was left speechless. The answer to every question was “no.”
But… it wasn’t about being right or wrong. And just because a statement is factually correct doesn’t mean it should be said anywhere, anytime.
“If you say that, how will they see me? In their eyes, I’m just a useless person with no autonomy who relies on your connections for everything… You can easily ignore what others think, but I can’t. I need—”
Ming Siyu cut her off.
“Liu Ran, I understand why you’re throwing a tantrum over this. It’s because I spoke the objective truth. You know better than anyone else here that you have no choice but to listen to me. You can’t change it, and you won’t accept it, so you’re angry.”
“I’ve seen plenty of people like you lashing out because someone told the truth. Besides, you are a useless thing who is nothing without me.”
Ming Siyu was genuinely baffled as she said this. Liu Ran only had this job because of her fur. She was only here because of connections, worlds apart from someone like Secretary Wen who earned her place. Did she really want people to think she rose through the ranks on merit? If Ming Siyu hadn’t been in a decent mood, she wouldn’t have even bothered explaining this much.
“If you gave me a chance, I could do it! I’m not a useless person who can’t do anything, I just don’t have the wuh chance!”
“Crying because of a few words… fix that habit first,” Ming Siyu said, tossing a pack of tissues over. “The fact that I bought you for twenty-five million means we can never be equals. So stop haggling for your ridiculous ‘equality,’ ‘dignity,’ and ‘face’ in front of me. It sounds like empty whining.”
Ming Siyu’s lips curled into a smirk. When she spoke again, her tone was full of mockery. “Otherwise, I’ll just call you Miss Opportunity, Miss Equality, Miss Dignity, or Miss Face. Which title do you prefer, Secretary Liu?”
Liu Ran covered her ears. “Stop it!”
Unfortunately, with four ears, she could only cover two at a time. Her eyes were red from Ming Siyu’s provocation, yet she had to admit Ming Siyu was telling the truth. And the truth is always what cuts deepest.
Ming Siyu continued her wicked, demonic whispering: “Which one should I stop? Should I not call you Miss Opportunity or Miss Face… or do you hate them all? It seems Secretary Liu still prefers ‘little wolf’ or ‘puppy’ after all. After all, I’ve never seen you cover your ears piteously when your Master calls you that…”
Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!
Liu Ran stared at Ming Siyu’s moving lips, breathing heavily. This bad woman… her tongue was so poisonous that if she licked her own lips, she’d probably die!
At this moment, Liu Ran had very little sanity left. She had only one thought: make Ming Siyu stop talking. Make those unwanted words go away.
Her vision blurred. The world became a twisted, messy blur until only those small, bright red lips remained, moving clearly.
Plug them up… plug those hateful lips up…
“I said stop it! I don’t like it! I don’t want to hear it!”
Liu Ran lunged forward, capturing the lips at the center of her vision.
The harsh sentences finally came to a sudden halt.
The next second, she was violently pushed away.
With nearly a meter of space between the front and back rows, Liu Ran’s back slammed into the front seat. She fell into the gap between the rows, landing in a twisted heap on the floor.
The impact cleared her head slightly.
She felt a weight on her thigh. Ming Siyu had stepped on her leg with one foot. In the dim light, she couldn’t see the dark eyes of the shoe’s owner.
But Liu Ran could see a small clump of dried mud from the construction site clinging to the heel of the dark-red stiletto. It was a dried grey-brown, like the color of the failed flat whites she used to make. Some mud rubbed off onto her black trousers, looking stark. Even starker was the snow-white skin of Ming Siyu’s bridge and ankle exposed beneath her pant leg, the thin muscles tensed in a beautiful curve. It was a visually striking image if only she weren’t the one being stepped on.
Then, her neck tightened. Ming Siyu leaned in abruptly, her fingers easily sliding into the buttoned shirt collar. She hooked the black leather collar and yanked it backward with force.
Liu Ran was forced to look up at Ming Siyu.
Nose to nose.
“Without my permission, you have no right to initiate a kiss with me,” Ming Siyu said coldly. “Only I get to kiss you.”
The heel pressed deeper into the black trousers.
When she realized what Ming Siyu was doing to her, Liu Ran didn’t freeze or try to pull away as she had before.
Why did Ming Siyu always have to be the one in control? Why did even a kiss have to be on Ming Siyu’s terms?
Liu Ran reached up and hooked her arms around Ming Siyu’s neck, straining upward. Their lips were pressed together until they were distorted.
Sensing Liu Ran’s struggle for dominance, Ming Siyu tightened her grip on the collar with displeasure and flicked out her tongue.
And Liu Ran would rather suffocate than back down.
They tore and bit at each other’s lips until a faint taste of blood bloomed between their teeth.
