Becoming the Yandere Omega's Fluffy Pet - Chapter 25.2
Chapter 25.2
Over the next few days, Liu Ran officially started her job as Ming Siyu’s secretary. She went to the company with her every day, enduring Ming Siyu’s torment at any time or place. Sometimes in the car, Ming Siyu would suddenly remove her hat and pet her ears, or reach behind her to squeeze the base of her tail.
Liu Ran once thought that Ming Siyu letting her be a secretary was just a new type of roleplay, designed so she could touch her whenever she wanted. She wasn’t used to the formal wear, either, and felt awkward every day.
She had to report her movements to Ming Siyu; she wasn’t allowed any time or space of her own. In fact, she rarely had the chance to report anything because, meetings aside, she spent 99% of her time with Ming Siyu.
Gradually, Ming Siyu had her learn how to make a hand-poured coffee. On the first day, she failed at several cups. Just as she was about to pour them away, she heard the beans were imported from a foreign estate at 3,000 yuan a pound. Unable to bear the waste, she drank them all. She couldn’t sleep a wink on the sofa that night and went to work the next day with dark circles under her eyes, only to be mocked by Ming Siyu. But with more practice, she improved a lot.
Ming Siyu also had her deliver documents, clean the office and lounge, took her to see clients twice, and once to inspect a construction project. Only then did Liu Ran learn that Ming Siyu had a real estate investment company independent of the Ming Entertainment Group.
In terms of work, Liu Ran actually admired Ming Siyu. But as for everything else… forget it.
One day, Ming Siyu said she was going out to discuss a project. From what she heard on the phone, the other party seemed to be a bio-pharmaceutical group, and Ming Siyu had some connection to the person in charge. Ming Siyu sent a pile of old files for Liu Ran to re-archive and then left with Secretary Zhou.
Many of the files were ten or even twenty years old. After organizing them for a while, Liu Ran felt dizzy and started searching for how to input commands to have the computer automatically categorize them.
Her phone screen suddenly lit up with a call. A-Master.
The sight of that name made Liu Ran furious. She gave the phone the middle finger before answering.
Ming Siyu said the Group’s secretariat had a confidential document from the Imperial Government’s land department. It couldn’t be scanned and sent; it had to be transcribed by hand. The relevant staff had finished transcribing it and organized it with other materials. Now, Liu Ran needed to deliver it to the real estate investment company’s office.
“Stay at the office and wait for me after you deliver it,” Ming Siyu said meaningfully.
Liu Ran had no choice. She found the employee Ming Siyu mentioned. After taking the files, she found that almost all the Group’s drivers were out. Only one middle-aged female driver she hadn’t seen before was still there, talking on the phone and anxiously saying something to someone. Liu Ran overheard that the driver’s sister seemed to have broken her leg and the driver wanted to go see her, but there was still an hour before her shift ended and she didn’t dare leave early.
Liu Ran had checked the map. From here to the company, if she didn’t take the shortest route but instead chose the alternative suggested by the GPS, it would pass right by the Huaici Sanatorium.
An audacious idea struck Liu Ran: she wanted to see her mother.
“I happen to be going out. Sister, you can just register it as taking me to Director Ming’s other company. Just drop me off near the company where it’s easy to get a taxi. Remember to bring the car back before the next shift,” Liu Ran suggested.
This was exactly what the driver wanted. She’d heard rumors lately that Director Ming had a new young secretary who looked like a supermodel and had an unusual relationship with her. Seeing her today, she indeed had a supermodel’s figure and was very considerate.
Near the subway station, Liu Ran successfully hailed a taxi to the Huaici Sanatorium. As soon as she got out, she checked her hat and hurried inside. After registering at the front desk and confirming she was a patient’s relative, she received an IC card from the nurse, similar to a hotel room card, which could only be used for the elevator to her mother’s floor and the electronic lock of the room.
The Huaici Sanatorium was high-end, with a great environment, high-level medical staff, and impeccable security and privacy. This was exactly why Liu Ran had chosen it back then.
Her mother was in a double room. Her roommate was an aunt with no children of her own, who was currently peeling a green apple. The aunt’s name was Chen. Seeing Liu Ran, she said with a smile, “Little Liu, it’s been a while since you saw your mom, hasn’t it? Have an apple.”
“Thank you, Auntie. Thanks to you for looking after my mom while I’m away, otherwise I really couldn’t rest easy,” Liu Ran said gratefully.
Her mother, Bai Yu, suffered from a rare neurological disease that kept patients in a long-term sleep-like state, similar to a vegetative state. It required professional equipment for constant monitoring and nutrient injections to sustain life. If any vital signs became abnormal, medical staff had to perform emergency resuscitation within ten minutes.
When Liu Ran first held the funeral for her father, she’d thought about taking Bai Yu home to care for her herself, but the conditions at home were unsuitable. The sanatorium had professional medical staff and allowed admission as long as one could pay, with more relaxed conditions than a hospital.
Furthermore, there was a private hospital near Huaici Sanatorium, also opened by the Jian Group, and there were frequent consultations between the two.
Bai Yu’s bed was by the window. Walking to the bedside, Liu Ran slowed her pace as if afraid to disturb the sleep. Seeing the elegant woman sleeping peacefully with her hands folded over her chest, countless memories and grievances flooded her heart.
After a few months, Bai Yu looked even thinner. Her eye sockets were dark, her cheeks sunken, and her pale lips were bloodless. She looked nothing like the gentle, intellectual woman she’d been before falling ill.
In Liu Ran’s eyes, Bai Yu was the gentlest mother in the world. Her tendency to cry easily had been discovered when she was very young. Each time she cried uncontrollably, she would feel ashamed, which only led to more tears a vicious cycle of negative emotions. Bai Yu would tirelessly hold her in her arms, wipe away the tears with her soft fingertips, and say with a smile: Don’t the tears look like bright pearls?
Humans are like clams living in the water, with hard shells and soft hearts. Whenever they open their shells to experience the world, they take in some grains of sand, then use their hearts to grind and grind them into beautiful pearls that flow from their eyes.
“Ranran is just too kind. You can’t bear to leave any grain of sand behind and want to give them all beautiful clothes, which is why you produce so many little pearls. In terms of pearl production, our Ranran is the most hardworking little clam.”
Liu Ran had always remembered those words.
But such a gentle and beautiful mother had been lying in a hospital bed for several years. The tubes and instruments connected to her were both channels for sustaining life and straws that constantly drew away her vitality.
Liu Ran held Bai Yu’s cold hand and sat quietly for a while. Aunt Chen finished peeling two apples and handed one to Liu Ran. “Little Liu, I see you look much better than before. Did you change jobs?”
Afraid of her mother being discriminated against, Liu Ran had always told Aunt Chen she was a production assistant on a film set. She nodded. “Yes, I’m now a secretary for a listed group’s president.”
It was technically not a lie.
Looking at Liu Ran’s suit, Aunt Chen guessed she’d squeezed in time during work and hadn’t changed. “That must be quite busy then. Is the new job going well?”
“It is busy. I’m basically on call twenty-four hours a day for the boss. As for going well… it’s okay.”
Aunt Chen said from experience, “Ah, work is never easy. Working for others means having to look at their faces. Very few jobs are truly smooth. If things don’t go your way, don’t take it to heart, so you don’t stress yourself out.”
“You’re right, Aunt Chen.” Liu Ran smiled. “Aunt Chen, has my mom been okay lately?”
“Her breathing stopped once last week, but she was resuscitated. It was a minor issue. But I heard from the nurse that they couldn’t seem to reach you at the time… but it doesn’t matter. It’s a small matter for your mom. The doctors and nurses have experience now and she was back to normal in no time, so no critical condition notice was issued.”
Liu Ran was startled. She said hurriedly, “I… I changed my number…”
Aunt Chen naturally took out her phone. “Then let me save your new number. Auntie can notify you if anything urgent happens.”
Adding a new contact to the phone would definitely be discovered by Ming Siyu. In a moment of inspiration, Liu Ran said the phone was low on battery. She tore a piece of paper from a notepad and wrote down her number for Aunt Chen, telling her to contact her if anything happened.
Aunt Chen didn’t think much of it. After saving the number, she got up to hang clothes on the public terrace. Aunt Chen took care of Bai Yu a lot, so Liu Ran wanted to do something for her as a token of appreciation, and offered to help hang the clothes. Although this small favor was nothing compared to Aunt Chen’s help, Liu Ran felt she shouldn’t ignore it just because it was a small task. Aunt Chen happily agreed.
Bai Yu’s room was at the end of the corridor, while the two elevators were at the other end. The terrace entrance was in the middle of the corridor. Next to the terrace door, a small trolley, some bedding, and IV stands were piled against the wall, partially blocking the way. Liu Ran took a small detour around them to reach the terrace.
After hanging the clothes, Liu Ran checked the time and felt she should leave after saying goodbye to Aunt Chen. She had been at the sanatorium for nearly half an hour. If she didn’t leave soon, she was afraid she’d be late getting to the company and be caught by Ming Siyu. Ming Siyu had explicitly said that going downstairs for coffee without reporting was more serious than reporting and then jumping off a building. This showed how much she disliked unauthorized wandering.
The moment she stepped out from the terrace, Liu Ran’s keen ears caught the sound of an elevator door opening. She didn’t pay it any attention and walked past the small trolley with her bucket, but from a distance, she heard a voice that made her hair stand on end.
“…We have the qualifications. Director Jian has already taken me on a tour of your hospital and sanatorium, so you must be interested in my factory under construction. I wonder if Director Jian might have time to visit the site in person…”
Accompanying the voice was the distinctive sound of high heels. It was Ming Siyu.
Encountering Ming Siyu here was as terrifying as encountering a ghost. Almost by reflex, Liu Ran instantly hid behind the door closest to the trolley, pressing herself against it as if she could turn into a decorative scroll.
She carefully peeked her head out, nursing a slim hope that “maybe it just sounds like her.” The familiar outfit she’d seen this morning came into view: a V-neck black silk long dress, an exaggerated silver reflective wide belt, pointed heels, and gold-rimmed half-frame glasses.
Ming Siyu was walking in front with another tall female Alpha wearing a solid-colored suit and a patterned silk scarf. Secretary Zhou and another woman with an ID card around her neck followed behind. Ming Siyu had a faint business smile on her face as she conversed with the Alpha.
Terrified, Liu Ran retracted her gaze.
It was truly a case of “enemies meeting on a narrow road.” Ming Siyu said she was discussing a project; who would have thought it would be at the sanatorium? The bio-pharmaceutical company they were collaborating with seemed to have no connection to a sanatorium.
The corridor was only about fifty meters long. No matter how slowly Ming Siyu’s group walked, they would reach Liu Ran’s position in half a minute. They were clearly just taking a general look around and were focused on their conversation, with no intention of stopping to look closely.
It was impossible to detour back around the trolley to the terrace; the corridor was empty and she’d be seen immediately. Standing against the door and playing dead was also impossible unless all four people had no peripheral vision. The nearby room doors were all locked, and her temporary IC card didn’t have the authorization to open them… In just a few seconds, Liu Ran thought of a dozen ways to avoid Ming Siyu, only to reject them all.
Her gaze fell on the bedding next to the trolley. At this point, her only option was to squat down, pull a quilt over herself, and pretend to be a harmless pile of cotton…
Just as she reached for the quilt, the door lock behind her suddenly clicked open. Liu Ran had been leaning against the door; as it opened, she lost her balance. Before she could fall, her collar was grabbed, and a hand pulled her forcefully into the room.
The person who pulled her in was a young woman. Once Liu Ran was inside, the woman quickly and quietly closed the door, pressed down on Liu Ran’s shoulders, and both of them squatted on the floor.
Liu Ran’s heart was in her throat. A few seconds later, Ming Siyu’s group passed by the door without noticing anything unusual. Only then did Liu Ran resume breathing, hardly able to believe she had so easily escaped from under Ming Siyu’s nose.
She carefully examined the woman who had saved her. She looked like a student, with no makeup, very soft skin, and clear, blinking deer-like eyes. She had a thin layer of air bangs and looked like a high schooler.
They were currently in the staff room on this floor. By the window was a wooden bunk bed, with a desk and two computers in front of it. Emergency equipment and supplies were stored in the corner.
“Thank you,” Liu Ran whispered.
The woman smiled at her with narrowing eyes before saying, “You’re welcome.”
Liu Ran didn’t dare lower her guard. The woman’s appearance was too timely and coincidental. How did she know she was hiding at the door and trying to avoid Ming Siyu? As if reading her thoughts, the woman pointed to one of the computer screens: “The surveillance feed is visible here. Are you hiding from Director Jian?”
Director Jian? The Alpha who was with Ming Siyu? Liu Ran shook her head. “No, I… I didn’t want to run into Director Ming here.”
She noticed that after she mentioned “Director Ming,” the woman’s aura seemed to relax instantly. The woman smiled and said, “I see. I thought you were like me, hiding from Director Jian. My name is Jian Huaici. I just finished my college entrance exams. What about you?”
“Liu Ran.” As she spoke, the name “Jian Huaici” felt strangely familiar. Huaici… the sanatorium was called Huaici, and she was surnamed Jian…
She said in surprise, “This sanatorium is named after you? Then the ‘Director Jian’ you mentioned—”
“Director Jian is my sister.” Jian Huaici’s smile had the innocent brilliance of a student. “She finds me annoying and doesn’t want me following her. I snuck here, so I’m hiding from her.”
So she was hiding from her sister. Still, both being in hiding made Liu Ran feel it was a coincidence. She made up a half-true reason: “I’m Director Ming’s secretary. It’s awkward to run into the boss at a non-work venue during work hours, haha.”
Jian Huaici nodded immediately. “I get it. Don’t worry, I won’t mention to my sister that I ran into Director Ming’s secretary here. You don’t tell anyone I’m here, either. Let’s keep each other’s secrets, okay?”
Liu Ran was only too happy to agree. Jian Huaici then helpfully offered to watch the surveillance for her and let her out once Ming Siyu and the others had left.
Liu Ran thought Jian Huaici was a nice person. Since they were close in age, she felt a sense of kinship. Jian Huaici also mentioned that if the cooperation between the Jian and Ming families was successful, they might have a chance to meet again and become friends.
Once the surveillance showed Ming Siyu had left, Liu Ran made an excuse that she had things to do and bid farewell to Jian Huaici. She hurried back to Bai Yu’s room, took a lingering look at her, said goodbye to Aunt Chen, and quickly headed to the company with the documents.
On the way to catch a taxi at the sanatorium entrance, she glanced at the parking lots on both sides. Ming Siyu’s custom Bentley was parked in a very obvious spot in the surface lot; she hadn’t noticed it when she came in. If she had, she would have turned and run.
At the company, Liu Ran placed the documents in the most prominent spot on Ming Siyu’s desk and sat on the sofa to wait. The weather was hot, and the air conditioning was running at full blast. Liu Ran inadvertently fell asleep on the sofa.
She was awakened by the sound of the door opening. Looking at the time, it was already noon. Liu Ran’s stomach began to growl right on schedule.
Ming Siyu sat down and started reading the documents, not forgetting to mock her: “Did you not sleep last night because you drank too much poorly-made coffee? Sleeping in my office.”
After days of Ming Siyu’s “verbal battering,” Liu Ran had become immune to some of the mockery. Ignoring the words, she asked like a true assistant secretary, “Director Ming, what are we eating for lunch today?”
“Go look online for some decent restaurants, we’ll head over in a bit.”
Just as Liu Ran opened her phone to search, Ming Siyu changed her mind. “Forget it, it’s too hot outside. Find a restaurant and have them deliver. Don’t order anything with offal or strong smells.”
Liu Ran took her order and carefully selected the food. She picked things she liked to eat that were within Ming Siyu’s taste range. She chose very carefully. When she handed it to Ming Siyu for review, the woman just glanced at it for half a second and nodded. Liu Ran suspected she hadn’t even looked at what was chosen.
By the time Ming Siyu finished the documents, the food hadn’t arrived yet. Leaning back in her chair, she beckoned to Liu Ran. “Come here.”
Liu Ran looked up, playing dumb. “What is it?”
A hint of playfulness flashed in Ming Siyu’s eyes. “You don’t think I called you here just to deliver a document, do you?”
Liu Ran knew it wasn’t. If it were just to deliver documents, the employee who prepared them could have brought them. Ming Siyu calling her here was invariably about three things:
-
Touching her ears.
-
Touching her tail.
-
Touching her ears and tail.
Liu Ran put down her phone and walked over to Ming Siyu’s desk, silently wishing that this time it would only be her ears. She might be able to endure the ears, but the stimulation from the tail was too much; she always struggled to control her heat.
She now felt that whether Ming Siyu had read the manual made little difference. Even though she’d told Ming Siyu why she couldn’t touch her ears or tail, the woman still did as she pleased for her own comfort, regardless of Liu Ran’s distress. The only difference was that Ming Siyu would carry Alpha suppressants and stop more quickly, halting just as the stimulation began to take effect.
Even if she couldn’t help releasing pheromones, Ming Siyu no longer blamed her for it; she would just leave coldly and indifferently, leaving Liu Ran to struggle through the intense desire alone.
She lowered her head, only to hear Ming Siyu say, “Sit on the desk.”
Liu Ran thought she’d misheard.
“Don’t make me repeat myself, Liu Ran.”
Liu Ran didn’t know what game Ming Siyu was playing now. But if she didn’t do it, Ming Siyu would dock her pay. Over the past few days, Ming Siyu had used that threat several times, and it was very effective. Whenever Liu Ran wanted to give up, she’d think that since she’d survived the trial period, she shouldn’t quit halfway. She brainwashed herself into thinking it was just a job, and that jobs weren’t easy to find. She gritted her teeth and persevered.
Ming Siyu stood between her legs, leaning forward slightly. With one standing and one sitting, their eyes were at roughly the same level. For a moment, Liu Ran thought Ming Siyu was going to kiss her and nervously licked her lips. Since the time Liu Ran had bitten her, Ming Siyu hadn’t kissed her again.
It turned out she was overthinking. There was no kiss.
Ming Siyu turned her head slightly and leaned in, her nose brushing against Liu Ran’s cheek. With one hand supporting her on the desk, the other skillfully grasped Liu Ran’s wolf ear. Words that were as ethereal as a dream yet as cold as sin tickled Liu Ran’s earlobe: “Little wolf, call me Master. Be good.”
