Chapter 10: She Isn’t Ming Siyu’s Dog! She Isn’t!
Because of that phone call in the afternoon, Ming Siyu’s image in Liu Ran’s eyes had become several degrees more villainous.
When Ming Siyu flipped the hat off, Liu Ran kept her eyes lowered, her face a mask of wooden indifference.
Ming Siyu said, “A baseball cap doesn’t match the dress—”
If she had to wear one, a wide-brimmed formal hat would have looked better.
Before she could finish, Liu Ran cut her off with a retort: “What does it matter if it matches? It just doesn’t fit your aesthetic and failed to satisfy you, that’s all.”
Another petty tantrum.
The anger that Ming Siyu had mostly managed to suppress flared up again instantly. She had intended to let the incident between Liu Ran and Ming Siwei slide, but she hadn’t expected Liu Ran to be so self-righteous about it.
“What exactly are you throwing a tantrum about?”
Liu Ran still refused to look at her. “I wouldn’t dare throw a tantrum at Director Ming.”
This was the first time Liu Ran had addressed her as “Director Ming,” yet Ming Siyu found this more aggravating than when Liu Ran used her full name.
“Liu Ran, I’ve realized you have absolutely no self-awareness as a pet.”
As she spoke, Ming Siyu grabbed one of the wolf ears. The ear had been pressed tight by the hat all afternoon; now liberated, it was hot to the touch, feeling like a springy hand-warmer in her palm.
Liu Ran winced in pain and tried to tilt her head to shake her off, but Ming Siyu applied pressure with her fingertips, pinching the ear firmly. Liu Ran endured the pain and countered, “I am not your pet. I am a human being.”
“Then what is this?” Ming Siyu gave the thick, soft wolf ear a twist. “Do humans have ears like this?”
The image of the two figures standing close in the surveillance footage flashed in her mind again. “Where did Ming Siwei touch you, hm? Your ears?”
Her fingers slid down, heavily stroking Liu Ran’s full lips. Her fingertips even pried into the seam of her lips, rubbing against the sharp points of her canines. “Or… did she kiss you?”
Liu Ran swatted Ming Siyu’s hand away. “Do you think everyone is a pervert like you?” Pinching ears, stroking tails—she was a total harasser.
“Miss Siwei and I just chatted for a bit. Normal people don’t do that kind of thing the first time they meet.”
Ming Siyu’s mind was filthy, so she saw filth everywhere.
How could two sisters from the same family be so different? Ming Siwei was infinitely better than Ming Siyu.
“Oh? Then can you guarantee there was absolutely no physical contact?”
“No—”
The word escaped Liu Ran’s mouth instinctively. But after just one syllable, she remembered there had been contact. When Ming Siwei fell backward, she had grabbed her to help.
That one-second hesitation sounded to Ming Siyu like a guilty mind trying to formulate a lie.
She hooked Liu Ran’s collar and yanked her forward with force, her nose nearly touching Liu Ran’s, as she demanded sharply, “She really touched you?”
“No!”
Liu Ran wasn’t used to being this close to Ming Siyu. It was too close; the scent of bitter cold after a blizzard instantly filled her lungs, though now it was laced with danger. “She was falling, I just grabbed her to help. There was nothing else.”
An urgent explanation.
As soon as Liu Ran said it, she regretted it.
She didn’t understand why she couldn’t control her feeling of guilt when faced with Ming Siyu’s interrogation. She was clearly the aggrieved party who had been threatened for no reason. She didn’t even expect an apology; she just wanted Ming Siyu’s attitude to be slightly better. Yet, somehow, the power dynamic had shifted it was as if she were the one who had made a mistake, and Ming Siyu was the one seeking justice.
The conversation wasn’t supposed to go like this…
So, she immediately changed her tune: “Even if she did, so what? Are you going to trap me here for the rest of my life, only allowed to speak to you?”
“If I wanted to, forget one lifetime—you wouldn’t see the outside of this house in your next life either. Even if you die, and your corpse rots and crawls with maggots and flies… you will decompose inside this house,” Ming Siyu said gloomily. “So you’d better be good.”
Liu Ran swallowed hard in terror. Ming Siyu didn’t look like she was joking.
Ming Siyu was a psychopath, a lunatic. She was capable of anything.
When Liu Ran spoke again, her voice lacked its previous conviction, filled with fear and indignation: “What you’re doing is… illegal…”
“You’re welcome to try and stop me,” Ming Siyu said, letting go of the collar. She was getting tired of Liu Ran’s resistance.
“Kneel. I’m going to check the injury on your tail.”
The bit of panic in Liu Ran’s heart was instantly incinerated by the word “kneel.”
She was once again pushed beyond the limits of her anger. “This is my tail. I do not give you permission to play with it as you please.”
“I paid the money. Your entire person belongs to me, including your tail.”
The onset of her Skin Hunger combined with the irritability caused by Liu Ran’s defiance left Ming Siyu with no patience for further talk. Just like the previous days, if Liu Ran didn’t agree, she would just take it by force.
Liu Ran usually resisted fiercely at the start, only to gradually lose the strength to struggle, ending up whimpering helplessly.
However, Ming Siyu forgot one thing: today, Liu Ran was not bound by restraints or a leather lead, nor had she been injected with any muscle relaxants that would strip her of her mobility.
As Ming Siyu reached behind Liu Ran to grab the tail, she had barely touched the base through the clothes when her wrist was caught in a powerful grip. Ming Siyu instinctively reached for the leather lead attached to the collar, but Liu Ran blocked her again.
Liu Ran’s hands were larger than hers, her palms completely enveloping Ming Siyu’s hands. For a moment, both of Ming Siyu’s hands were controlled by Liu Ran. Ming Siyu couldn’t break free no matter how much strength she used, yet Liu Ran didn’t seem to be trying hard at all, her eyes reddening with anger: “I won’t let you play with my tail. You cannot touch it.”
“Let go,” Ming Siyu hissed through gritted teeth. Her fox-like eyes narrowed behind her lenses, flashing a cold, final warning.
“Guarantee first that you won’t touch my tail,” Liu Ran said, looking into her eyes seriously. Then she shook her head. “Forget it. Only a fool would believe your guarantees.”
Ming Siyu had never been at such a disadvantage in a confrontation, let alone pinned in such a posture. For a moment, her face twisted.
She had studied combat for a time as a child and still remembered a few moves. Without a second thought, she lashed out with a kick toward Liu Ran.
“Liu Ran, you ungrateful wolf! Do you want to die?!”
Seeing that Ming Siyu had no intention of negotiating, Liu Ran snapped completely. All the groping, the slapping, the threats, and the humiliations from the past few days rushed to the forefront of her mind. Even at a disadvantage, Ming Siyu still acted like a master; even while restrained, her arrogant, dismissive attitude acted like a raging fire that burned Liu Ran’s logic to ash.
She wasn’t Ming Siyu’s dog! She wasn’t!
Dodging the incoming kick, Liu Ran used the momentum to hook Ming Siyu’s other leg. Ming Siyu instantly lost her balance and fell backward. Seizing the opportunity, Liu Ran straddled Ming Siyu’s abdomen, pinned her legs down with one of her own, and gathered both of Ming Siyu’s hands above her head in one fluid motion.
“I said, you are not allowed to touch my tail!”
