Chapter 28: Licking and Kissing the Mating Scale
◎Called a Pervert by Her Wife, About to Depart for a Desert Wedding◎
Xiao Hen’s amnesia provided a surprise for everyone during the one-and-a-half-month observation period: she had no target for emotional projection, and thus the pseudo-spawning period ceased to exist.
Of course, this didn’t rule out the possibility that if she were to fall in love again, the spawning period would reappear.
These were all just conjectures, of course. The Director’s first thought upon learning this was to release Xiao Hen back to the ocean and her clan. Since she had already exhibited violent behavior towards a person, the institute had no reason to keep her any longer.
If her clan encountered difficulties again, or if the ocean conditions continued to deteriorate, and they couldn’t find a suitable deep-sea habitat, they could certainly return for help.
After all, the directive from above was not to permanently confine all Jiao-people but to give them a chance to return to the sea. Losing their natural instincts was not a good thing for them.
Song Xiu assumed Chen Mengwei would oppose the Director’s decision but was surprised when Chen Mengwei immediately agreed to the idea in the meeting.
During their month-and-a-half of one-on-one interaction, she increasingly realized that Xiao Hen was never a Jiao-person who could adapt to a human environment.
In the past and now, she was always the one who should have returned to the sea. Forcing her to stay in the institute would only exhaust her body and spirit. This outcome was a hundred times more painful than the process of any pseudo-spawning period.
The Director, for once, stood aligned with Chen Mengwei. Fearing she might change her mind or cause more trouble, she began implementing the plan the very afternoon the proposal was made.
Shui Se had already sent a signal to the clan. Truthfully, she was a little afraid of the Clan Leader, but she had to face her now. She had to personally watch the Clan Leader take Xiao Hen away before she could finally set her mind at ease.
Song Xiu, who hadn’t taken many photos recently, was forcibly handed a camera by the Director. She stood at the edge of the cliff, documenting the process of the people releasing Xiao Hen back to the ocean and handing her over to her clan. After all, photos were necessary for accountability.
Honestly, when Song Xiu saw Xiao Hen swimming freely and joyfully in the seawater, her icy blue fish tail splashing water as she swam towards the horizon, she suddenly felt that this parting should not be sad. This was truly the best choice for Xiao Hen.
Shui Se was also genuinely happy for Xiao Hen. She had never seen her like this since coming to the institute.
Song Xiu raised her camera, turned to her wife, and captured her absolutely stunning profile: “Wife, now will you give all your care and affection entirely to me?”
Shui Se shyly gripped her clothing, then buried her head in Song Xiu’s embrace: “The condition is that we must have a wedding. I don’t want it at the institute; it has to be in a very, very special place.”
“A special place?” Honestly, the first image in Song Xiu’s mind was the desert where she used to intern. It was once an ocean, with huge dinosaur skeletons and towering rocks. If she took Shui Se there for a trip now, the weather would be cool and comfortable. She might even catch the unique sight of snow in the desert just as the trip was ending.
“Director, Shui Se and I are going to the desert for our wedding. The wedding and return honeymoon will require at least a month’s leave. Will you approve it?” Song Xiu asked the Director, who was standing beside her, smiling, clapping her hands, and looking into the distance.
“Approved, approved, approved. Just don’t lose Shui Se, and don’t let her get thirsty. That place is severely lacking in water,” the Director answered without turning her head. She could retire early in two months, so there was nothing she couldn’t agree to, and she had become much kinder.
“Don’t worry, Director. The place I’m taking her has the largest freshwater lake in the entire Sector A desert. I just feel bad for Mengwei, who will have to work hard this month.”
Chen Mengwei, who was standing at the very front, turned her head when she heard this: “Remember to find a place with good signal and video call me so I can see what it’s like.”
“Don’t worry! If it weren’t for our respective obligations, I’d want you all to attend my wedding with Shui Se.”
“To use Little Coco’s words, why don’t you just have another one when you get back?”
“Mhm!” After fixing the camera on a tripod, Song Xiu hugged Shui Se, turned, and pressed her forehead against hers. In front of the backs of the crowd and the Jiao-people clan, under the afterglow of the sunset, she captured this photo full of stories.
When Little Coco learned from Chen Mengwei that she wouldn’t be able to see the live feed of Sister Song Xiu and Shui Se’s wedding, she complained for the first time about why she was a merfolk who couldn’t transform her legs. She also wanted to see what the desert looked like, and how spectacular the dinosaur bones were. Were they bigger than the sunken ships at the bottom of the sea?
Zheng Zheng, on the other hand, became strangely panicked, swimming back and forth frantically in the pool until Chen Mengwei crouched down by the pool and called her over.
“What’s wrong, Zheng Zheng? Why are you panicking?”
“If Shui Se leaves, I’ll be the only Jiao-person left. Song Xiu won’t be here either. I’m afraid the merfolk, who fear nothing, will eat me.”
“I’m still here, aren’t I? If the merfolk wanted to eat you, why would they wait until now? If that were the case, Little Coco would have already bitten your arm while you were sleeping.”
Little Coco cooperated by opening her mouth wide.
On the other side, Song Xiu planned to travel light, buying the necessary wedding supplies in advance and shipping them to Petroleum Town so she and Shui Se wouldn’t have to drag heavy luggage along the way.
As for Xiao Mi, Song Xiu arranged for him to be transported as a rodent pet. He wouldn’t suffer too much, as the journey would only take about half a day.
“Song Xiu, will Xiao Mi be uncomfortable when he arrives?”
“No, wife. As long as he has food and water, hamsters adapt quite well to the desert. You, on the other hand, might not be very comfortable. It’s very dry there. If you don’t want to…”
Shui Se placed her index finger on Song Xiu’s lips: “Shhh. I’m willing. I want to see it, and I want to have our wedding there.”
Song Xiu tightly grabbed Shui Se’s wrist, tracing her hand downward, kissing the soft inner part of her arm all the way down.
“My wife is so good.”
Song Xiu still bought many moisturizing sprays and a mobile humidifier for Shui Se and shipped them to Petroleum Town in advance. Since this was the first time she was taking her on a long trip, she had to be fully prepared.
“I wish we could take Little Coco with us. She would be so much fun at our wedding.” Song Xiu lay on the bed, hugging Shui Se tightly, burying her face in her hair, deeply inhaling her unique scent.
This scent was indescribable to humans. She couldn’t even say what exactly it smelled like, but it was a faint, subtle fragrance that was incredibly soothing.
Shui Se also wished Little Coco could be there: “It’s a pity that merfolk basically can’t transform their legs. Only if they have Jiao-person ancestry is there a possibility of transforming.”
“What if? If she really transforms her legs before our wedding, I will definitely find a way to make her appear to make you happy. Speaking of which, wife, we have to wait until the packages are mostly delivered before we set off. Should we take this time to DIY our wedding outfits?”
“Yes, we should make them for each other.” Shui Se gripped Song Xiu’s hand, lacing their fingers together: “We will be together forever.”
“We will, my Shui Se.”
“My Song Xiu.”
Song Xiu suddenly flipped over, pinning Shui Se beneath her. She quickly drew the curtains and then flipped her Jiao-person, whose tail had already transformed, onto her stomach. She trailed kisses down from her shoulder blades to her lower back, kissing the mating scale.
Shui Se had never experienced such intense stimulation. She suppressed her cries until she couldn’t bear it anymore and bit down on her fingertip.
When Song Xiu noticed, she couldn’t bear to let her hurt herself. She immediately stopped licking the mating scale, moved up, and gently pressed her own left index finger onto Shui Se’s tongue.
“I’ll bite… I’ll bite you, and you’ll bleed…”
“Baby, I’m not afraid. Bite all you want.” Song Xiu touched the mating scale as she spoke. Shui Se was pinned down and couldn’t move. She couldn’t even manage to not bite her finger.
The whole thing lasted nearly forty minutes. Shui Se tearfully huddled under the duvet, calling her a pervert and saying she didn’t even know to take her bleeding finger out.
Song Xiu looked at the teeth marks on her finger, feeling extremely satisfied inside. So what if she was a pervert? It was her own wife. Doing this to anyone else would be perverted.
“Then what do I need to do for my wife to forgive me?”
“Next time, I want to kiss face-to-face. This is okay sometimes, but if it lasts too long, it’s scary.”
“I’m sorry, wife. I was thoughtless.”
Watching her wife cry and drop tiny pearls as she complained, Song Xiu felt so much pain. She wished she had taken things gradually. Doing this so suddenly was bound to scare her, especially since they had never been so aggressive before.
After coaxing her wife to sleep, the Director sent Song Xiu a private message while she was organizing Xiao Mi’s snacks. She said that Jian Xu would be discharged soon and knew nothing about Xiao Hen, not even that she had amnesia. She absolutely had to be kept in the dark, at least until the Director retired. If Jian Xu found out that Chen Mengwei had personally released Xiao Hen, she would definitely go crazy.
Song Xiu replied with an OK gesture. She hoped Jian Xu wouldn’t cause trouble while she was gone. Anyway, Jian Xu’s file had already been transferred to another marine institute, and she no longer had access to the island, so there shouldn’t be any major problems, right?
Song Xiu could only console herself with this thought. There was no getting Xiao Hen back now. Even if Jian Xu found out, she could cry a few times, but what else could she do? Chen Mengwei could let go; the woman who was nearly killed by Xiao Hen should be able to, too, right?
Before going to sleep, Jian Xu proactively messaged her, chatting idly and trying to gauge Xiao Hen’s recent status.
This was something the old Jian Xu would never have stooped to doing. Now, she had also put aside her so-called pride.
“She did that to you, and yet you act like nothing happened, even loving her more?” Song Xiu asked deliberately.
“She didn’t mean it. It was just a stress reaction. Besides, I do owe her. When will the cycle of revenge ever end? I’m facing my true feelings. Love is love. There’s no need to be as awkward as before.”
“Mhm, that’s a good way to think about it. Rest well and recover from your injuries. You should be sleeping now.”
“That… how is Xiao Hen doing now? Is it possible to take a photo or video for me to see?”
“She’s still in the underground lab. I can’t get in, sorry.”
“I see… That’s alright. Just catch Chen Mengwei sometime and get me a photo or two. I just want to see how Xiao Hen is doing.”
“I’ll try my best. I’m going to my old internship location with Shui Se in a couple of days to have our wedding, so it might be difficult.”
