Chapter 2: He’s Actually Moving Into Her House?!
It was just the same words over and over again.
Lu Miao didn’t want to hear it; she hung up in annoyance.
Lu Yan wouldn’t look after her himself, so he threw her to another man to manage. How could there be such an incompetent guardian?
She looked at the man who was acting as if none of this concerned him. Automatically grouping him with Lu Yan, the last shred of her goodwill vanished. “Please stop the car. I’m getting off right here.”
The man acted as if he hadn’t heard her. With one hand resting on the steering wheel, his tone was somewhat nonchalant. “I promised your uncle I would take you back.”
“I don’t want you to take me.”
Fu Shiyue ignored her words. Lu Miao angrily grabbed his steering wheel. “I told you to stop the car, did you hear me!”
Screech—
The car braked violently; Lu Miao nearly hit the windshield.
Fu Shiyue looked at her with dark, sunken eyes.
Lu Miao met his gaze. Her heart shriveled, but her face remained tightly set. “Open the door. I want to get out.”
Fu Shiyue gave a low sneer and turned off the ignition directly.
Lu Miao tried to pull the door handle only to find it locked. “What are you doing?”
“Are you going to let me take you back quietly, or are we going to waste time here?”
Lu Miao clenched her jaw tight.
Fu Shiyue looked at her and knew the young girl was angry; her puffed-up face was actually somewhat cute.
But no matter how good Fu Shiyue’s patience was, he was getting a bit irritated by this problem child.
He took out a cigarette, opened the car window, and said dismissively, “If you can’t figure it out, take your time thinking.”
The spark of the lighter illuminated the man’s cold, hard jawline. He looked out the window, smoking unhurriedly.
Lu Miao glared at him deathly.
This “my way or the highway” attitude of his was even more annoying than Lu Yan’s!
Time passed second by second. The car was parked right on the overpass, and the northwest wind poured in through the wide-open windows from all sides. Lu Miao was about to have her face blown into facial paralysis.
She sniffled, looked at the calm-faced man, gritted her teeth, and squeezed each word through her gaps: “Aohai Lanting! If you don’t get there in ten minutes, you’re a grandson!”
Fu Shiyue glanced at her, stubbed out the cigarette, closed the window, and started the car.
He floored the gas pedal so hard Lu Miao nearly threw up her dinner from the night before.
In less than ten minutes, they reached the underground parking lot of Aohai Lanting.
Lu Miao opened the car door, covering her mouth as she stumbled out of the car.
Urgh.
She almost lunged to the roadside to pour it all out, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw the man also getting out of the car.
She immediately stood as straight as a flagpole, her face full of calm indifference. “This is far enough. No need to see me up.”
After speaking stiffly, she slammed the door with a thunderous bang.
Fu Shiyue stood with his hands in his pockets, pursing his lips as he watched Lu Miao walk away without looking back.
The eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl had quite a temper; she looked like she wanted to dismantle his car door.
Lu Miao walked forward with her head down.
Reaching the elevator entrance, she looked up and found that the man had actually followed her. She gave him a strange look. “What are you following me for?”
He walked to Lu Miao’s side, watching the ascending numbers, and said indifferently, “Seeing you up.”
“I said there’s no need…”
The man allowed no refusal, already reaching out to press the elevator button.
The elevator doors slowly opened. The young girl’s black-and-white eyes were cutting him, clearly very unhappy.
He, however, looked perfectly composed, tilting his chin. “Get in. I have to ensure you get home safely.”
Lu Miao stood still.
The man stepped in on his own, holding the “open” button. He lowered his head slightly, quietly watching her stubborn little face.
It was as if he were looking at a disobedient little pouter.
The bright white light in the elevator outlined the man’s long, upright frame, exuding an air of patience and relaxation.
Lu Miao stood at the entrance in a deadlock with him for a long while until the elevator emitted a “beep, beep” warning sound. She turned around, wanting to run.
This man insisted on seeing her to her doorstep—it definitely wasn’t for anything good. She was not going to let him into her house!
Before Lu Miao could take a step, a hand reached out rapidly from the elevator and yanked her inside.
With a thud, Lu Miao was pinned against the elevator wall, unable to move. A pair of eyes captured her with a heavy gaze as the elevator doors slowly closed.
“You dare to run?”
Her throat tightened, and she swallowed. “You… you let go of me.”
Fu Shiyue’s gaze was oppressive. Seeing her show cowardice, his brow relaxed slightly. “Which floor?”
“…20.”
Fu Shiyue let her go and turned to press the floor button.
Lu Miao looked over anxiously, seeing him raise his hand with its clear veins. His fingertips brushed slightly across the row of small round buttons, lighting up the 20th floor.
The elevator ran smoothly, but Lu Miao’s heartbeat was in utter chaos.
That man’s eyes just now were so dangerous.
It was as if if she didn’t behave, he would fix her just like he smashed Wang Mingcheng.
The elevator soon reached the 20th floor.
The doors slid open. Lu Miao dashed out and ran to her front door. Taking advantage of the fact that the man hadn’t caught up, she quickly used her fingerprint to unlock it.
With a beep, the door opened. She slipped inside. As she was closing the door, the man approached with steady steps and reached out to catch the door.
Lu Miao was startled. “What are you doing!”
Fu Shiyue looked at the frightened young girl inside the doorway, reining in the aggressive aura around him. “Your uncle said you often stay out all night. To prevent you from sneaking out at night, he asked me to watch over you for him.”
Lu Miao looked at him through the tiny crack in the door. “I won’t sneak out, and I don’t need you to look after me.”
“It’s not up to you. Since I promised your uncle, I have to fulfill my duty. I must watch you here tonight.”
After the man spoke in his matter-of-fact way, Lu Miao immediately caught the main point.
“Wait, you’re going to stay at my house?”
“In theory, yes.”
“…”
Lu Miao’s face fell. “In your dreams!”
This man actually wanted to live in her house? Even though he was her uncle’s friend, it was a lone man and a lone woman who had known each other for less than an hour. They weren’t close enough to share a room!
Lu Miao used her strength to pry his hand away. Touching his hand felt like touching a block of ice, but she didn’t care and unceremoniously slammed the door shut.
Bang!
The door almost smashed into Fu Shiyue’s face.
He stood outside the door for a good while, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly.
Because Lu Miao had run too fast, one of her sandals had been left outside the door.
Fu Shiyue looked down at it. Whatever he was thinking, he bent down and picked up the shoe.
He raised his hand and entered the passcode.
The moment Lu Miao got home, she was like a deflated balloon; her whole body went limp.
She took a can of beer from the fridge and was just about to drink her fill when she suddenly heard the sound of the lock turning.
The motion of opening the beer came to a sudden halt. She watched with wide eyes as the main door opened and the man walked into her home as if he owned the place.
?!
Lu Miao was stunned for a full ten seconds, her eyes stretching wide in horror. “How did you get in?!”
He skillfully recited a string of numbers. “586426?”
It was Lu Miao’s name in phone keypad numbers.
She stared deathly at this uninvited guest. “How do you know my house passcode?”
The man closed the door with a natural expression. “Your uncle told me.”
Lu Yan even told him that?!
Is he crazy? She’s an eighteen-year-old girl; having a man barge into her home, isn’t Lu Yan worried about her personal safety?
Fu Shiyue didn’t enter immediately. He stood tall in the foyer, looking at the bright, clean floor. He still asked politely, “Are there any slippers I can wear?”
“No!” Lu Miao wanted to go to the kitchen to get a meat cleaver.
Fu Shiyue knew she was being difficult on purpose and didn’t make things hard for her. But his politeness lasted only a second before he directly pulled open her shoe cabinet.
Seeing him treat the place like his own home, Lu Miao didn’t even have time to get the cleaver. She stomped her feet in rage. “This is my house, get out!”
“I promised your uncle I would take good care of you.”
He sized up the girl’s shoe cabinet and put her small sandal inside. “So for the coming days, I will be living here.”
The shoe cabinet was stuffed full and messy; he couldn’t find any shoe covers, only a pair of men’s slippers.
Lu Yan’s.
Fu Shiyue closed the cabinet door with a look of disdain.
The soles of his shoes were clearly very clean, yet he still rubbed them repeatedly on the floor mat before finally stepping inside.
Under the girl’s furious gaze, he walked up to her and snatched the beer from her hand. “Drink less alcohol, especially the cold kind.”
Seeing him take it so naturally, Lu Miao’s eyes rounded. “I’m calling the police to report you for trespassing!”
“Go ahead.”
He suddenly took a step forward, closing in. Lu Miao was so scared she scrambled backward, resulting in a thud as she hit the refrigerator.
The atmosphere suddenly became tense.
