Apocalyptic Island - Chapter 26.2
Chapter 26.2
A heatwave scorched in front of everyone’s eyes. The man closest to Wen Yishu was almost completely engulfed in flames.
He let out a short, miserable scream and immediately fainted from the huge, scorching flames. He then woke up in pain.
Bai Mi’s expression was calm, but a chilling anger appeared in her indifferent eyes.
Her hands did not stop. The scorching flames continued to burn the person who had fainted on the ground. Soon, that person turned into a fireball and stopped struggling completely.
The bald man and his group looked at the charred corpse on the ground with their eyes wide open. The smell of scorched flesh permeated everyone’s noses. At the same time, a strong fear arose in their hearts.
Bai Mi’s slaughter did not end. She quickly shot the alcohol cartridges in her hand at a few people.
“Get down!”
The next second after she spoke, she opened fire on the man who was still standing in front of her.
Huang Fei felt the flame licking the top of her hair. The scorching air and the freezing cold ground made her feel like she was in a purgatory of fire and ice.
She felt like she was almost suffocating.
A few men who were close to each other were hit by the flamethrower. The orange-red flames shot up into the sky. Miserable screams came from behind. The group felt a scorching heat behind them. They quickly stood up when the flamethrower was turned off.
A few men rolled on the ground but were unable to extinguish the flames on them. Soon, they stopped struggling in despair.
Ling Shuang still felt angry and kicked them a few times. Then she limped back.
She turned her head and saw that the team leader also fell to the ground with a pale face. They suddenly lost two main forces. You Ning was covered in injuries and couldn’t move. Without the heat of the flames, the cold wind quickly began to sweep away their body heat.
Relatively speaking, Huang Fei and Huo Xiaoguan were in better condition. The group worked together to carry the two unconscious people into the car.
The tire stopper was a long strip with many spikes on it. The front wheels just happened to run over it. The two tires were completely ruined.
There was nothing they could do but to take off the front wheels and leave them on the road. They took out the jack from the trunk and jacked up the car.
Only You Ning could barely change a tire. After Huo Xiaoguan and Huang Fei ran to the front to move the cars blocking the road one by one, Ling Shuang stayed in place and changed the tire under You Ning’s direction.
You Ning was still shivering from the cold even in her down jacket. Her whole body hurt from being beaten. Originally, the group had discussed it for a while and decided not to use the flamethrower.
When they escaped from the apartment, they didn’t bring many cartridges. There would be no resupply along the way. It could be said that every one they used was one less.
They could use human methods to deal with humans. But in order to save these few cartridges, they almost lost their lives. They didn’t expect these thugs to be so vicious and to try to kill them with every move. Looking at the cars here, the number of people who died should not be small.
She gasped for a few breaths in pain. She was a little strange as to why Wen Yishu fell so easily.
Huo Xiaoguan and Ling Shuang didn’t have time to check on them properly. The two people in the car were piled on top of each other. If they had seen the abnormality in Wen Yishu’s eyes just now, they would not have been relieved to leave the two of them alone.
In a series of dizziness, she saw the green door covered with plants that had appeared when she was in a coma from the first fever.
Her consciousness this time came to a more vast and boundless universe. Spring grass was green in front of her. She walked in the sea of flowers, but her nostrils were filled with cold air.
This was the second time. This door did not seem to be tightly closed like it was at the beginning. A gap had appeared.
Wen Yishu stepped forward and pushed. The door felt very warm to the touch. This time, she heard some sounds, a subconscious grunt.
She suddenly opened her eyes. The blood vessels in her eyes had completely receded. Her hand was pushing on Bai Mi’s waist. Her entire face was buried in her shoulder, and half of her body was pressing on her.
The force of her hand was very great. It was more of a push than a push.
Bai Mi’s face was pale. She frowned slightly, still clearly in a coma.
She hurriedly climbed up from Bai Mi’s body. The scattered light from the car’s headlights shone in through the front window, coating her dazed face with a cold, glazed luster.
The woman in front of her suddenly opened her eyes. Her eyes were like a thin layer of ice, locking all the warmth inside.
Under the car lights, her irises were almost transparent, like two beautiful glass beads.
A strange feeling arose in Wen Yishu’s heart. It appeared again, this kind of look.
It gave her a sense of familiarity, a strange, eerie sense of familiarity.
It wasn’t the robot butler from the apartment below, but…
She turned her head to look at the pitch-black car window. It reflected her own face. When she wasn’t smiling, her expression was cold and distant.
It was like her, like herself!
When she was in a coma just now, her consciousness was still as clear as it was during the fever. The experience of that door seemed to be only a moment. She seemed to be able to see the situation of two worlds.
So, she knew everything that happened afterward.
This kind of cold person would only show emotions when they were in her hands. The previous times were not her imagination.
She was imitating, imitating her every move. When she couldn’t move, she lost her reference object.
She simply grabbed Bai Mi’s collar and pulled her up.
Wen Yishu knelt on her legs, her eyes looking straight at Bai Mi, not letting go of her every expression.
She still looked very weak. Her lips were pale, but her tone was still gentle. She was not offended at all by her impolite behavior: “What’s wrong? Why are you treating me like this?”
Her fingertips rested on her warm, soft neck. It was a normal human body temperature, but it was also abnormal.
The air conditioner was not on in the RV. Wen Yishu’s fingers were already a little numb from the cold. A normal person, when touched by such cold fingers, would instinctively shrink their neck. But she didn’t.
She simply put her whole hand on it. A neck like this, if she used a little force, she could really snap it. Bai Mi suddenly pursed her lips and looked down at the hand that was choking her neck.
Wen Yishu did not move away. Instead, she moved closer. She could almost feel the rhythm of the other person’s breathing. It was too regular, without the slightest bit of a mess.
“Team leader, shouldn’t your danger judgment be in effect at this moment?” She increased the force on her hand.
Seeing the other person’s pale face gradually turn red, but her pulse was still steady, Wen Yishu let go.
Bai Mi’s voice came from her throat with difficulty. She asked in a weak voice: “What are you talking about?”
“Perhaps you don’t have this alarm device.” Wen Yishu still did not let go of her collar. Her knuckles were a little white.
“You don’t know to put on more clothes when it’s cold, you don’t have conditioned reflexes, a constant body temperature, a stable heart rate, and I can smell your scent is pleasant. You don’t sweat. Even when you eat, the frequency of chewing is exactly the same.”
She put two fingers in front of her eyes, but Bai Mi had no intention of avoiding them.
“Just like this, unless you were prepared beforehand, it’s impossible for you not to close your eyes.”
After Wen Yishu finished speaking, the expression on her face finally had a very subtle fluctuation, as if the central processor had not reacted, a brief pause of 0.1 seconds.
It was similar to a human’s mind going blank for a moment, but it quickly returned to normal.
“Is that so?” The hand that Bai Mi was supporting herself with grabbed Wen Yishu’s other hand and pressed it to her heart. Under the hot skin was a heart that had started beating wildly at some point.
Wen Yishu’s breathing stopped.
She slowly moved the hand that was holding her up, and repeatedly grabbed her neck, just as she had done. But there was no force in Bai Mi’s hand. She just carefully placed it there, feeling her equally wild pulse.
Bai Mi: “Do you hope that I’m fake? If I’m not human, then what am I?”
Wen Yishu suddenly grabbed her wrist. The force was so great that it was almost enough to crush her wrist. She gently shook it. The joint was still flexible, and the skin in her hand was still soft and warm, but her pulse was still beating steadily.
She almost asked in a low voice: “This is the proof. Your heart can beat wildly, but your pulse can’t fool anyone.”
Bai Mi: “I have nothing to say to a medical layman like you.”
She was choked by Bai Mi and began to wonder if she had really made a mistake.
“I am human. According to human behavior, shouldn’t you be a little more polite to me?”
Bai Mi calmly looked at her hand that was gripping her. Wen Yishu took a deep breath. She thought back to all the things that happened before. Her suspicions and her intuition should not be wrong. Why could she deny it like this?
“How do you prove it?” Her questioning eyes looked at Bai Mi. “If you’re a real person, do something a human would do.”
She looked back at her. The two of them were very close. A line that was out of place suddenly appeared in Wen Yishu’s mind. She didn’t know where she had seen it.
This close, it’s either a fight or a kiss.
The door of the RV was suddenly pulled open. Ling Shuang’s voice went from loud to soft: “You’re awake! I… I’m sorry to interrupt…”
