Apocalyptic Gratitude Duck - Chapter 24
The car screeched to a halt, its tires screeching in protest.
Qiao Yanyu’s expression changed abruptly. She hadn’t even had a chance to brake when something snagged the rear wheels.
In the next instant, the car shook violently as it slammed into the vehicle behind it with a metallic clang.
Qiao Yanyu’s head nearly struck the steering wheel. Her arms gripped the wheel tightly, barely keeping her upright, while her fingers dug into the seatback. Her sharp gaze fixed on the white figure darting around the car.
It was a massive, snow-white python as thick as a water vat, its body covered in sturdy scales that radiated a cold, icy aura. Even coiled outside the car, its presence chilled the air, its icy breath sweeping over them.
No wonder it had grown so cold earlier, with snowflakes beginning to fall. This mutated giant python possessed ice-type abilities.
The python’s thick tail lashed out, denting the car’s body and shattering the windows.
“What do we do now?” Zhang Ping shouted, leaning against the shattered window.
The constant thrashing of the Giant Python was making everyone sick, trapped inside the car. The discomfort was unbearable, but considering the python’s massive size, stepping out now would be like offering itself as a meal.
Qiao Yanyu frowned deeply. At this rate, the car would soon be crushed by the dents caused by the python’s physical attacks. There was no escaping this absolute threat; running was futile.
Their only option was to fight together!
“Let’s attack together and see what this Giant Python is made of!”
Qiao Yanyu activated her Space Ability, launching the first strike. Surrounding rocks transformed into razor-sharp giant swords, each carrying a fierce gale as they slashed toward the python’s body.
Screech!
The ear-piercing sound of the White Scales scraping against the giant swords echoed.
Flames sparked from the collision, mixing with falling snow. The python’s body shed only a portion of its white scales, revealing pale flesh tinged with crimson beneath.
Blood slowly seeped from the python’s wounds. Enraged by the pain, its tail lashed out, shattering the rock-formed swords.
Zhang Ping followed swiftly, his muscles bulging with power. With a lupine ferocity, he thrust a devastating punch through the shattered window, slamming into the python’s body.
Zhang Ping was now a Level 2 Ability User, and his Iron Fist was powerful enough to crush the skull of a Level 1 Strength Zombie.
Yet the Giant Python’s body merely twisted slightly. Its serpentine form writhed with lethal intent, its azure eyes blazing with killing intent as it coiled around the car, relentlessly constricting the space, determined to crush Zhang Ping and the others inside.
“Chuyue, Youming, attack its weak point together!”
Realizing death was imminent, Zhang Ping’s mind screamed with alarm. His combat experience kicked in, and he immediately shifted to a new offensive strategy.
With a furious roar, he unleashed a barrage of punches like a torrential rain!
Li Youming and Chen Chuyue joined the assault, unleashing a torrent of flames and ice spikes at the Giant Python’s body. The flames only scorched a patch of its scales, and the ice spikes barely pierced a few. The Giant Python remained largely unharmed.
The car’s doors and hardware were on the verge of breaking, the cracking and splintering sounds continuing relentlessly. If the doors failed, they would lose their last line of defense.
“Damn it, get your weapons!”
Zhang Ping was nearly insane, his eyes bloodshot as he drew the two machetes at his waist. Reaching through the shattered car window, he swung wildly at the Giant Python with reckless abandon.
The machetes sliced through the Giant Python’s body like they were striking newly forged iron. A single strike might only cause superficial wounds, but what about three, four, or a hundred?
The combined physical prowess of three Level 2 Ability Users amplified their strength exponentially. Their desperate, relentless onslaught finally carved a long, narrow gash across the Giant Python’s scales.
The Giant Python, which viewed humans as mere prey, grew even more frenzied upon tasting its own blood.
Damn humans!
It coiled its massive body, opening its foul-smelling maw to swallow the entire car whole. Just as its jaws clamped down on the vehicle’s front end, a searing heat erupted from behind. The Giant Python whipped its head around to see its tail engulfed in a sea of flames. Its icy scales were blistered and burning, the flames spreading relentlessly.
A golden duck appeared behind them, its golden eyes shimmering brilliantly. Flames burned fiercely on its wings, resembling a rising sun.
Damn it! Another Level 3 Mutated Beast!
The inherent conflict between ice and fire caused the Giant Python to feel a bone-deep hatred for Kexin the moment she appeared. It spat out the half-swallowed car and immediately changed direction, launching an attack towards Kexin.
The snowflakes in the air froze in a bizarre manner, then coalesced into a dense barrage of icy arrows that shot towards Kexin like a hailstorm.
Even if Kexin managed to dodge this arrow shower, the likelihood of being slashed by the icy projectiles was high. Without hesitation, Qiao Yanyu channeled her Ability again, using the scattered rocks around her to form a protective shield to block the attack.
The powerful barrage quickly shattered the stone shield. In the next instant, the shield reformed, but a few ice arrows pierced through the gaps, grazing Kexin’s wings. Instantly, a thick layer of frost coated her feathers.
The constant collapse and reformation of the stone shields rapidly drained Qiao Yanyu’s energy.
As Kexin approached the Giant Python, Qiao Yanyu’s energy was completely depleted. The stone shields could no longer solidify for protection, and the stones crumbled into dust. At that moment, a transparent shield instantly enveloped Kexin’s body.
“Qiao-jie, I’m here to help Kexin!” Meng Nuo stepped forward and activated her own shield.
The transparent shield withstood only one volley of arrows before it began to tremble and weaken. Meng Nuo’s face paled, but she continued to maintain her Ability with all her strength.
Protected by the shield, Kexin charged through the arrow storm. Her massive combat form dove swiftly toward the Giant Python, her razor-sharp claws plunging into the gaping wounds left by previous strikes, tearing out a bloody chunk of flesh.
The intense pain made the Giant Python lash its tail, attempting to fling Kexin away. However, Kexin’s combat form shifted again, and the icy serpent tail swept through empty air, slicing only a few duck feathers.
Feeling utterly humiliated by the duck’s audacity, the Giant Python roared with fury and charged after Kexin.
